The Jaguar XF is a mid-size luxury car produced by British car manufacturer Jaguar. The XF replaced the Jaguar S-Type and was launched at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

2013 Jaguar XF Sportbrake

We absolutely just love talking about wagons that we’ll never get to see on our side of the pond. Wait, scratch that. It actually sucks to hear that Jaguar has finally unveiled the XF Sportbrake and Europe will be one of the few that will actually revel in its luxurious five door space. It’s not their fault that the British brand is going where the wagon demand is at its highest nor that we decided bigger was better before giving these in-between vehicles a chance, but we’re still a little envious.

The XF Sportbrake was supposed to make its world debut in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but Jaguar decided to offer the first details one week before the actual event. While the car’s front is identical to the sedan version, the new XF Sportbrake is entirely new from the B-pillar and back. Under the hood, Jaguar has placed a range of four-cylinder 2.2-liter and V6 3.0-liter diesel engines with power going up to 275 HP.

UPDATE 03/13/2012: Jaguar has unveiled a new video featuring the car’s designers explaining all the little details that went into creating the stunning new wagon. Hit the jump to watch the video.

2014 Jaguar XFR Sportbrake

Now that Jaguar has officially announced the new XF Sportbrake what would you think about a XFR Sportbrake version? We are pretty sure that this will be Jaguar’s next step and today we have a rendering for you that might help you make a pretty good idea on how the XFR Sportbrake will look like.

Just like with the XF-R sedan the Sportbrake version will be featuring a more aggressive look thanks to a new front grille, a new hood, modified front fenders, redesigned LED taillights and a special exhaust system with four end pipes.

Under the hood Jaguar will place the same 5.0-liter V8 engine in its supercharged version that will deliver a total of 510 HP. Of course the Sportbrake won’t be as fast as the sedan version, but expect to see a 0 to 60 mph sprint time kept in the 5.0 seconds area.

You should expect the new XFR Sportbrake by the end of 2013.

Jaguar’s New Campaign Emphasizes Beauty and Power

Jaguar’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular, but to give the guys over in Marketing something to do with their time, Jaguar has launched a new campaign that highlights the beauty and power of the top three dogs: the Jaguar XF, XJ, and XKR-S.

The Jaguar XF has been described as the quintessential sedan. It’s sportiness and elegance are accompanied by a choice of three diesel powertrains and two petrol versions. For the diesel, you can opt for a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine, and a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine, with power ranging from 187 HP to 275 HP. As for the two petrol engines, you have a choice between a 5.0-liter V8 and a 5.0-liter turbocharged V8. The former comes with 385 horsepower and 380 lb/ft of torque whereas the latter hits 510 horsepower and 461 lb/ft of torque.

The newest generation XJ is the first Jaguar model built on the company’s aerospace-inspired aluminum body technology. It sports a sleek and sophisticated design that’s a far departure from the past versions of the luxury car. The all-new Jaguar XJ brings a daring new spirit to automotive luxury, offering a seductive mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and engineering without compromise. US customers will only get the 5.0-liter V8 engine, in both naturally aspirated and supercharged versions, delivering a range from 385 hp to 510 hp. European customers will also get a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine producing 187 HP.

The new Jaguar XKR-S features exclusive new paint colors that reflect Jaguar’s racing heritage. As with competition Jaguar cars of the past, the exterior of the XKR-S adheres to the principle of form following function. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director, describes the car as a "bold and exciting new model for Jaguar". He adds: "The styling of this car isn’t about image, it’s about true performance. Like other iconic Jaguar cars before it, the styling has been driven by geometry and aerodynamics for genuine design purity." Power for this elegant and stylish sports car comes from an AJ-V8 all-aluminum powerplant with twin-vortex Roots-type supercharger that delivers a total of 550 HP and 501 lb/ft of torque. This setup makes the XKR-S’ engine the most powerful Jaguar road engine ever made.

2014 Jaguar XFR-S

Jaguar certainly knew what they were doing when they presented the XKR-S at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and now they are bringing yet another spark to their lineup with an XF version of the speedier package. At this same event, the company also confirmed a future compact model that will compete with the BMW 3-Series, a four-cylinder diesel option for XF in Europe, a 4x4 drivetrain targeting North America, and a petrol V6 option for the XJ luxury sedan in China.

The firm’s global brand director Adrian Hallmark said in a recent interview: "’I can confirm there is a project to transfer the upgrades from the XKR-S to the XFR, but we haven’t confirmed it for production yet. But it would be great to see the XF with 550hp!"

Jaguar has yet to offer any real details on the future RS package for the XF sedan, but the 550 HP engine from the XKR-S will surely transfer over. Our recent spy shots show the wheels from the XKR-S will also used for the XFR-S.

UPDATE 02/02/2012: In an interview with Autocar, a senior company insider has confirmed that Jaguar is indeed working on an XFR-S sports sedan that will take on models like the BMW M5. The new model will be powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that will deliver a total of 550 HP. As for the exterior, it will receive the same treatment as the XKR-S. On the British market, the XFR-S will be priced at about £70K, or about $110,000 at the current rates.

2012 Jaguar XF SE Business & Sport Edition

After revealing the XJ Sport and Speed at the end of 2011, Jaguar has added two more special editions to their lineup, this time for the XF. The SE Business and Sport Editions can now be ordered on the British market, with prices starting at £31,500 ($49,000 at the current exchange rates) and £34,950 ($54,400 at the current rates) respectively.

The Jaguar XF SE Business version is based on the recently launched 163 HP 2.2 Diesel XF and adds a satellite navigation system complete with a seven inch touchscreen and HDD mapping. Next to these features, the model will be offered with intelligent start stop, a 400W sound system with DAB digital radio, leather and suedecloth seats, and bi-Xenon headlights.

The Jaguar XF SE Sport edition is based on the 190 HP 2.2 Diesel model and is distinguished by a full aerodynamic pack that includes a revised front bumper, a black grille element, side sill extensions, a subtle rear boot lid spoiler, and a black rear valance. The interior gets half leather suedecloth seats, a bond grain trim, and dove contrast stitch. The center console was dressed up with Piano black trim with ’Sport’ decals and the pedals in stainless steel. Practical additions include a heated front windscreen and front seats, a front parking aid plus a reversing camera, and 60/40 folding rear seats.

Video: BMW M5 vs Porsche Panamera S vs Mercedes E63 AMG vs Jaguar XFR

British magazine, EVO, has gone out and pitted a few more competitors against each other to determine which is the better ride. Starting with the very cool BMW M5, EVO gathered up its competitors - the Porsche Panamera S, Mercedes E63 AMG, and Jaguar XFR - for a little one on three action.

Let’s break it down with some numbers. The M5’s 560 HP went up against the 550 HP from the Panamera, the 525 HP from the E63 AMG, and the 510 HP from the XF-R. Basically, the test served up 2,145 HP of phenomenal power, but which sports car landed on top of the heap?

Before watching the video, try to take a stab at who crossed the finish-line first. You may be surprised. We’ll give you a one hint: the Panamera turned out to be the laziest from them all.

The Purr of the Big Cat: Jaguar’s Lineup is both Elegant and Sporty

Jaguar is known for a lot of things with the words "luxurious," "classy," "elegant," and "powerful" being thrown around most often. Their full lineup of vehicles exude power and class, and have done so since 1949 when the XK 120 was born. They have followed the bigger and better trend over the years, but their elegance and sport have always been a staple in their production.

Their new lineup continues this trend with the XJ, XK, XF models glistening in the light of Jaguar’s success, and offering even more sparkle for the future. This is the face of Jaguar and might we add, it’s something that a lot of us have always dreamed of.

More videos highlighting Jaguar’s Lineup can be found after the jump.

Video: Jaguar "At Play" ad speaks to the Big Cat’s fun side

Jaguar is known for a lot of things with the words "luxurious," "classy," "elegant," and powerful being thrown around most often.

Not it appears they’ve added "playful" to their vocabulary.

The British automaker has released a new ad featuring all three of its newest models - the XJ, the XF, and XK - participating in a nice little romp around their natural habitat: the concrete road.

Whether it’s on an isolated and forested area or in an urban warehouse setting, the three models are all at ease with their surroundings, something the company is emphasizing for in their new line.

Cleverly crafted with a fitting tagline - "Welcome to the Jungle" - the new Jaguar ad speaks to the consumer in ways it has never spoken to before. Sure, the cars still fit the words that we have long described them, but now, they’re opening themselves up to a new kind of fun. This is the kind that speaks to the character of these cars as more than just the conservative brand we previously thought they were.

This is the new face of Jaguar. And might we add, it’s something that a lot of us have long waited to see.

2012 Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel

Jaguar came at this year’s New York Auto Show with the facelift version of their XF luxury sedan. But the most impressive thing for the 2012 model year is the addition of a new 2.2 Diesel version, which will even be available on the US market.

The new 2.2-liter diesel unit will deliver a total of 190 HP and 332 lbs ft of torque, while returning 52.3 mpg on the combined cycle and only 149 g/km of CO2. It will feature a water-cooled turbocharger with low-friction pistons, new injectors, and a new crankshaft. The new configuration allowed Jaguar engineers to add a new oil pan and new electronic systems which affect the crankshaft to allow the new intelligent Stop-Start system to operate more efficiently. The new engine will be mated to an advanced eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, with the seventh and eight ratios effectively acting as overdrive gears.

With this type of setup, the diesel XF will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 8.5 seconds and will hit a maximum speed of 140 mph.

UPDATE 11/22/2011: Jaguar has released a short film that shows the progress of the XF 2.2 as it crossed 11 states, 2,884-miles, and three time zones, achieving an average economy figure of 62.9 mpg! We have also added a new set of images for the XF 2.2 Diesel. Enjoy!

Spy Shots: 2014 Jaguar XFR-S Plays with its XKR-S brethren

Our spy photographers were hanging around Jaguar’s test center near the Nurburgring when in the midst of all the XFR models driving around, they came across the vehicle seen in these spy shots. This may look like a standard XFR, but upon closer inspection, we think this is actually a test mule for the XFR-S model previously confirmed by Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark.

This test mule may be missing some special body parts to distinguish it as the XFR-S, but its track looks a bit wider and it is already sporting the wheels found on the XKR-S. Our proof, however, is in the pudding and that’s the sound escaping from the exhaust. The test mule is currently being tested with the XKR-S Convertible prototype and the sounds the car is emitting are nowhere near the standard XFR’s at the same test center. The throttle response on this test mule is also very quick when the driver floors it, which can only be explained by the presence of the future XFR-S model’s 550 HP engine borrowed from the XKR-S.

Jaguar is getting ready to play in the family sports car segment and we’d love to be there when the Audi RS6, BMW M5, and Mercedes E63 AMG experience the competition firsthand.
