2011 Dacia Duster ’No Limit’ Pikes Peak Racer

dacia duster 8217 no limit 8217 pikes peak racer picture

When Renault said that it was going to take a stab at running Pikes Peak in 2011 AND use a Dacia Duster to run the competition, a lot of people, shall we say, scoffed at that idea.

As it turns out, Renault was actually serious about the whole thing because the first photos of the Dacia Duster Pikes Peak have gone live. It seems a little ambitious for Renault to try to compete in one of the most famous - or infamous - hill climbing competitions in the world, especially considering when they’re using their low-cost, Romanian-based brand for the whole competition.

But this isn’t your ordinary Dacia Duster. While details are still limited, there are whispers going around that this particular Duster will carry a Nissan GT-R-sourced V8 engine that produces a staggering 850 horsepower. Last we checked, that’s a load of power, especially for a car that’s been stripped down to weigh just a little less than 900 kg (1,984 lbs).

The car is set to compete on June 26, 2011 at Pikes Peak, Colorado and will be piloted by Jean-Philippe Dayraut. We don’t know how competitive it’s going to be against the Imprezas of the competition, but there’s plenty of power under this Duster’s hood. And if you’ve got that covered, you stand a very good chance of being competitive.

Texas Mile Recap: March 25-27, 2011

The Texas Mile Event has come to an end and this year was another one for the record books. We saw the return of some familiar faces and many newcomers to the runway race-track. As you may recall, the entire point of this event is to see how fast your car can go. That may sound simple, but the idea behind much of racing is to beat your competition around a circuit type track. Simply having the fastest car in a straight line race is more closely related to drag racing where such vehicles as Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters hit 200mph in a ¼ mile.

In a place where everything is bigger - Texas, that is - several fans of speed have put together an event on a much longer straight than a ¼ mile. Anyone in a normal car is able to reach their terminal velocity at this event and that is what makes your adrenaline pump. In all honesty, most people don’t hit more than 100mph in their car at any point in time. Number one, it’s illegal and number two, there is usually not enough room to get up to speed and sustain it for any period of time.

This year’s event gave those speed junkies a chance to let their powerful automobiles and motorcycles reach their maximum speed. The highest speed this year was set by a motorcycle doing 278.6mph. To take a full look at the race results continue reading below.

1st Annual Speed by Spectra 341 Challenge Is In The Books

There is one racing event that takes place in June every year with cars equipped with massive amounts of power and professional racing drivers. We are talking about the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It gathers the most media attention of any hill climb race, but it’s not the only one west of the Mississippi.

Run for more than three decades, the Virginia City Hill Climb, which is not anywhere close to Virginia, is a dangerous 5.2-mile hill climb race that starts in Silver City, Nevada, and takes drivers along Highway 341 North into Virginia City.

During the race, the route is closed with the assistance of local law enforcement to avoid any accidents with locals or trucks.

The route consists of more than twenty turns and multiple long straightaways and is basically in the desert. The route takes drivers on a 1,200-foot change in elevation and is usually missing guardrails on the outside of high-speed turns. There is gravel on the shoulder, blind corners, and narrow passages. This is a true adrenaline rush from the word go.

X-Games Rally Fiesta at the 2009 SEMA Show

When Ford decided to enter a couple of rally cars at the 2009 X-games we were excited to see the new Fiesta wearing a set of bulging boxed fenders, a WRC style wing and some tarmac spec rollers. Perhaps even a showroom version. The blue oval should be happy that they chose to run an assortment of their Fiestas both new and old because the weekend’s broadcast television action sports etravaganza finale featured a 2010 Ford Fiesta going up against the golden boy Travis Pastrana and his fully built Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The boy and his Subaru had taken the gold the year before but after clipping a little too much off of his last apex, it was Indianapolis 500 winner Kenny Brack who was jumping up and down celebrating on the roof of a car that looked alot like this on

2009 world rally championships now on hd theater picture

Have you ever seen a basketball game on High-Definition? If you have, then you must have noticed the sweat dripping from the foreheads of all those basketball players, not to mention those over-sized zits and acnes some players still have.

For better or for worse, that’s the novelty that is HD. If you’re looking for unheard of levels of realism from your TV, then HD is for you.

Now, imagine watching a rally car race on High Definition. Imagine all the dust and dirt being thrown around by those rally cars jumping over dirt mounds and spiralling out of control in the process. We’ll tell you now: its must-see TV.

If you haven’t seen a rally car race on HD yet, here’s your chance. Beginning on the 4th of October the Discovery Channel’s HD Theater will become the new home of the World Rally Championship for the next two and a half months.

What this means is that you can now have a ‘front-couch’ seat at the pulse-pounding, gravel-throwing, car-flying action that is the WRC. To give you an appetizer of one you’re in for, HD theater will be showing six non-stop hours of rally racing from 3 pm to 9 pm ET this Saturday. The schedule continues with a race every Sunday from 8 pm to 9 pm ET until December 20.

Pink haired CEOs will cruise around in high end Italian sports cars for charity

The creative team at Maverick Business Adventures are organizing their latest high end out for Fortune 500 faces to not only interact in a high octane environment, but also give back to those in need. This September 30th, twenty different million dollar CEOs will have their hair dyed pink before setting across California’s magnificent Pacific Coast Highway in 400 HP super cars. Led by hair care expert John Paul Mitchell, the participants in the "Totaly Rad 80’s Maverick Road Rally" will depart from an undisclosed location in L.A. before heading north through San Francisco and eventually ending up in Nappa Valley.

These types of events are intended for up and coming entrepreneurs to socialize in a relaxed environment where they can network and pick up the good habits of their fellow companions. The reason that the captains of industry participating in the "Totaly Rad 80’s Maverick Road Rally" will be wearing an alternatively colored hairpiece is to promote cancer awareness month. The founder of Maverick Business Adventures, Yanik Silver is eager to get the road rally underway, saying that he "can’t wait to watch teenagers dying the hair of millionaire CEOs pink." However, as funny as it seems for a member of the Frtune 500 list to be sporting a very punk like pink hairdo, the “color washes out after two or three washes - apparently.”
