There’s fast and then there’s fast. The new 35 Outlaw marries wild speed and hot looks in one head-turning boat. Like its Outlaw brethren, the 35 Outlaw boasts design that makes drag a thing of the past, thanks to innovative hydro testing, wind tunnel technology and carbon fiber construction. Sharp lines and all the right angles mean this Outlaw’s looks match the fierce rumble of its engines. Amenities abound, and ample room invites the whole neck-craning crowd aboard. But the faint of heart may want to stay on the shore. "Slow" isn’t part of its vocabulary.
Engine
The Baja 35 Outlaw engine hatch doubles as the sun pad. The seat headrests serve a special function: they add another space for the engine to draw air for better performance. Baja offers for the 35 Outlaw four power options: a standard 375 HP Twin MerCruiser® 496 Magnum/Bravo I/Latham Steering engine and three optional engines: a 425 HP Twin MerCruiser® 496 Magnum HO /Bravo X/Latham Steering engine, a 525 HP Twin MerCruiser® HP 525 EFI/Bravo XR/Latham Steering & K Planes engine and a 600 HP Twin MerCruiser® HP 600 SCI /Bravo XR/Latham Steering & K Planes engine.
Exterior
Baja used a closed-mold technology in the boat’s construction and obtain a carbon fiber-braced structure that is light but strong. At the stern you can add an optional extended aluminum swim platform.
Interior
35 Outlaw (cabin)
The cabin of the 35 Outlaw offers enough sleeping room for three persons. In the compact galley you’ll find a microwave oven, a stainless steel sink, a refrigerator and plenty of room to store kitchen utensils and dishes. Across from the galley is the head. The cockpit is very comfortable. At the helm there are Aero bolster seat and the aft bench seat has side panels with two stainless drink holders. At the helm the Livorsi gauges are arranged in an easy-to-read panel above the silver and black custom tilt wheel.
Test drive
The Baja 35 Outlaw can reach a top speed over 72.5 mph. The boat handles aggressively but is easy to control. In hard turns, the 35 Outlaw stays hooked and around the docks the twin engines and power steering gives all the control needed to grease it in any way you want it.
