2007 Bavaria 42 Sport

Posted on by

The 42 Sport is the flag ship of the "Bavaria Stable". This large Volume sports top package offers a voluminous interior with twin private cabins, Central Dining area, L shaped galley huge entertainment deck with L and U shaped seating with aft permanent sun lounge. The Hydraulic Dingy storage compartment aft is a cavernous storage area perfectly designed for coastal cruising.

Engine

The Bavaria 42 Sport powered by the revolutionary Volvo-Penta IPS propulsion system (IPS 400 with 295 hp or IPS 500 with 352 hp available), is an awesome sports boat which boasts exhilarating performance and handling. The engine compartment access can be found below the sun bed. The electric lifter makes access quick and easy. The IPS engines are well laid out with easy access. To accommodate the length of the engines and the gear box, Bavaria has moved the fuel tanks to the outer side of the engine compartment.

Interior

Bavaria 42 Sport

With a length of 43 ft. & 9 in and a 14 ft. & 4 in. beam, the interior volume is incredibly spacious. Bavaria has designed two very large en-suite cabins – a forward double master cabin & a twin bed aft cabin. This enables two couples to have complete privacy and space. Each en-suite comes with a holding tank, WC, shower and all amenities. Both cabins also come with all the storage space you could need for long distance cruising and a large settee/changing area. The 42 also offers great access to the side deck via comfortable steps integrated into the deck. The transom is covered in teak, while an optional teak is available for the side decks and cockpit.

The side decks offer easy access to the forward deck with a handle on the radar arch. The aft seating will comfort-ably seat 7 to 8 adults, while the C shape seating on the port side next to the skipper’s seat can seat 3 people. On the starboard side behind the skipper’s seat you will find space for an optional fridge or an optional is the griller.

At the helm you’ll find the instrument lay-out is superb with excellent spacing for a large LCD display unit. The panel even offers space for the Volvo IPS joystick, which can be added to the boat at a later stage as an aftermarket product. The adjustable steering wheel allows for steering, whether standing or seated. The galley of the 42 Sport has a Siemens double plate stove, Sharp microwave, a large fridge and a freezer box within the counter top. The storage space is abundant. The seating area has its own wine cupboard, storage, and sound system, with seating for 6 to 8 people. The aft cabin has 2 separate large bunks. A full head, including a shower and electric toilet, a small couch which can easily be used for a child to sleep on and a small reading cupboard can be found in this cabin. In the front cabin you’ll find a full double bunk with a small seater, a fully enclosed shower and electric toilet.

Test drive

The Bavaria 42 Sport engines offer a superb handling at low speeds, making maneuvering kid’s play. Bavaria chose the Volvo-Penta IPS engines to power this model because they believe this is the future of the boats over 40 ft. The extra weight of this boat means that the stern drives could cause problems. Stern drives were never designed to really handle more than 350 hp. With a boat of this size it could prove tricky pushing this much weight through the water. The IPS is therefore a logical choice due to the many benefits over the shaft drives. The top speed easily achieved by the 42 Sport is about 40 mph. For a boat that weighs 27,557 lbs (30,864 lbs fully loaded), it’s pretty impressive.
