Imperia, the beautiful town at the Italian Riviera is set to host just another great yachting event. Designed to open the new season for all classic yachts with their owners and crews. Targeted towards the international yacht and charter broker as well as for classic yacht suppliers and owners of yachts, built in the "Spirit Of Tradition".

The setting could not be more beautiful. The picturesque ports of Oneglia and Porto Maurizio are surrounded with cafes, shops and restaurants and even ample parking is available near by.

Many yacht owners will know Imperia from the bi-annually held race week, the "Vele d'Epoca", an event attracting more than a 100 participating yachts. The hosts of the race week have now decided to start the Mediterranean's first dedicated "Classic Yacht Show".

The Imperia Classic Yacht Meeting is planned to take place from April 27 to May 1 2007 in the town of Imperia, Italy, just east of San Remo. In addition to promoting the aesthetic appeal of such an event, Assonautica Imperia, the organizers of the meeting, will be joined as hosts with partners from the yacht charter and brokerage sector, and enjoy official backing from regional and international supporters. The meeting will be hosting trade visitors such as charter brokers and yacht suppliers, providing the opportunity to talk at length to the captains and the crews on board. Individual yacht owners are also invited to exhibit their boats to show them off to brokers or buyers.

The event partly overlaps the dates of the annual Genoa Charter Show, Apr 30-May 4, and visitors to the Genoa show will be able to take a shuttle service to and from Imperia free of charge.

For the curious, the city of Imperia was created in 1923 by the union of Porto Maurizio, once a Roman port, the town of Oneglia, and the surrounding village communes. It takes its name from the Torrente Impero (Impero Stream) that crosses the town.
