Engine

The 2009 RXT iS has under its seat a 255 hp supercharged intercooled 1,494 cc four-stroke, Rotax SOHC with four valves per cylinder that will make your feel like flying.

The Intelligent Throttle Control implemented by Sea-Doo for this model operates electronically, with no cable, meaning that the throttle works progressively.

The Intelligent Brake & Reverse system, another innovation from Sea-Doo, is the world’s first on-water braking system for a PWC, offering a whole new level of safety and control. This system gives you the ability to bring your PWC to a controlled stop, on your terms.

Exterior

The S3 hull of the RXT iS creates a low-pressure zone, reducing drag and keeping the hull glued to the water. This improves handling and top-end speed. Its narrow chine and deep-V design stabilize the watercraft. Lateral wave impact is minimized, resulting in very little roll or change in direction. Also, the innovative material that makes up S3 actually reduces the overall weight of the hull by 50 pounds.

The RXT iS has lots of new features that will make your live easier on the water: The intelligent suspension (iS), the intelligent throttle control (iTC), the new Interactive multifunction digital information center, the new multifunction handlebar and the tilt steering.

The Intelligent Suspension (iS) allows the hull to move independently of the upper deck, isolating the rider and passenger from the impact of rough water with six inches of suspension travel. So you can ride longer, with greater comfort and control, through all types of conditions. The suspension comes factory-set for sport riding on the RXT iS 255 and readily adapts to fit changing conditions, number of passengers or personal preference. Choose one of nine settings or set it to auto calibration.

The Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) brings a new level of precision to every riding situation. Your watercraft now starts up in neutral mode, allowing the engine to run without propelling the craft forward. It makes for easier dockside starts and stress-free maneuverability, even in tight areas. An activity-specific cruise control system lets you customize your speed settings. Set the speed and let the system adjust automatically, while you enjoy an easier ride and better fuel efficiency. And along with iBR, iTC make docking stress-free, with the intuitive combination of throttle, neutral and reverse. Well-placed controls let you keep both hands on the handlebars and both eyes on what you’re doing.

The digital information center’s easy-to-read LCD panel gives you all the info you need at a glance. Available with up to 28 functions, including analog and GPS speedometers, compass, suspension gauge, cruise control and slow-speed mode indicators, Variable Trim System gauge and presets, and Learning Key setting. And you can customize your display and save your preferences, so you only see what you want to.

The handlebar isn’t just for the throttle anymore. Now, control of Intelligent Brake and Reverse, Intelligent Suspension, neutral mode and cruise control are all at your fingertips. It’s all completely intuitive. And it’s all designed to let you make changes while on the move, without ever taking your eyes off the water.

The new tilt steering system allows for a customized, less stressful ride, and when you use the tilt steering to move the handlebar up or down, the multifunction digital information center moves with it. So the gauges are never blocked from your sight.
