2010 Volkswagen Jetta

For the 2010 model year, the Volkswagen Jetta is being offered in two distinct body styles including the traditional four door sedan and an even more practical sport wagon. The 2010 Jetta’s front end gets a narrow double bar grill framed by the traditional metal surround with a pair of halogen headlamps on either side while the sport wagon comes standard with integrated roof racks; however all models come standard with amenities like air conditioning, cruise control, eight speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system with MP3 CD player and auxiliary input as well as an updated instrument cluster and a new three spoke steering wheel. Meanwhile both the SE and TDI versions come complete with chrome window trim.

For 2010 the Jetta will be offered with a choice of two engines. The first being the 2.0 Liter four cylinder clean diesel TDI rated 140 HP and 236 lb-ft of torque that gets as much as 42 MPG on the highway and is eligible for a $1,300 government tax credit as well as a 2.5 Liter gas burning five cylinder that delivers a total of 170 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque with the faster version able to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 8.2 seconds and reach a 130 MPH top speed. The sedan starts at $17,605 and the station wagon goes for $19,265 while the more efficient diesel burning TDI powered versions start at $22,660 for the sedan and $24,310 for the estate.

2010 Volkswagen Golf - US version

Known as the Rabbit until 2009, the well-known Volkswagen Golf is entering the 2010MY with design, both in and out, and a new TDI engine. Prices start at $17,490 for the two-door model, and $19,190 for the four-door version.

Up front the 2010 Golf features a wider, double-bar grille that blends into angled halogen headlamps for a sportier visage (High Intensity Gas-discharged Xenon headlamps are available as an option on the TDI model). The body-colored bumper sits above a revised lower front fascia featuring a wide-mouthed cooling duct. Crystalline oval fog lamps complete the front fascia on TDI models. These elements, combined with the Golf’s wider appearance give the hatchback a more commanding road presence.

Under the hood there is a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a total of 170 hp at 5,700 rpm and 177 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder clean diesel TDI engine that delivers 140 hp at 4,000 rpm, and an impressive 236 lbs.-ft. of torque between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard or a six-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic control.

2010 Kia Forte


Kia is going full speed ahead with is new image. The Soul is erasing the memories of the soulless Rio, and now the Forte is adding style that the Spectra never had. prices range from $13,695 to $18,495.

The 2010 Forte is being offered in three different trims: EX, LX and SX. Forte LX and EX are powered by a 2.0 Liter DOHC four cylinder engine, producing 156 HP and 144 lb-ft of torque, that features Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and multi-port electronic fuel injection. The SX features an upgraded 2.4 Liter inline four cylinder engine, also with CVVT, which delivers 173 HP.

Why are we excited about a new little Kia? Well, budget-friendly Kia seems to be starting to turn a corner. Its Euro-only Cee’d has been getting good reviews for style and performance. This Forte looks great inside and out compared to the Spectra it replaces, and so our hopes are high.

2010 Kia Forte Koup


Kia unveiled the Koup concept in 2008 at the New York Auto Show. Only one year later, at the same show, the Korean automaker brought out the Forte Koup, a model that kept quite faithful to the original concept. The Forte Coupe will be offered in EX and SX versions, with prices starting at $16,595 and $17,695, respectively.

The idea for the car is simple: a sleeker two door coupe version of the Forte sedan, this also means that the engine lineup will carry over from the sedan. The Koup will be available with either a 2.0 Liter four cylinder making 156 HP and a larger 2.4 Liter four banger putting out 173 HP. In either case, both engines are mated to either a six speed manual or a five speed automatic transmission. With standard equipment including: air conditioning, a driver’s seat height adjuster, adjustable rear seat headrests, tilt steering column, rear defroster, center console with dual cup holders, map lamps and variable intermittent wipers.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

Already a name in the automotive industry, the Mitsubishi Lancer will be offered four different trim levels for 2010, with output ranging from 152 HP and going all the way up to 237 HP with prices ranging from $14,790 to $27,190.

The Lancer DE and SE versions are powered by a 2.0 Liter DOHC MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) four cylinder engine pumping out 143 HP at 6,000 RPM and 143 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 RPM. The GTS version will get a 2.4 Liter DOHC MIVEC four cylinder making 168 HP and 167 lb-ft of torque, finally the top of the line Ralliart model gets a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0 Liter four cylinder boosted to 237 HP and 253 lb-ft of torque.

The 2010 Lancer features a a shark nosed front end, distinct wedge like profile and crisp, taut lines. Each model is now equipped with Active Stability Control (ASC) and an anti lock braking system (ABS) as well as electronic brake force distribution (EBD) all standard.
