2007

Five years, five cars. As a commemoration to Volvo’s fifth straight year at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) tradeshow, the Swedish manufacturer will show five highly modified versions of its vehicles.

Scion unveiled today at SEMA the Dalek xD, a concept car designed by Joe Galante and JMI Motoring. The xD Dalek edition features exterior and interior upgrades and also an impressive audio/video customization.

During World War II, the P-51 Mustang was hailed as a savior of aviation and certainly played a major part in ending the conflict. This long range fighter escorted Allied bombers over Europe and Hermann Goering, the head of Germany’s Luftwaffe, summarized the plane’s role by stating, "The day I saw P-51 Mustangs flying over Berlin, I knew the jig was up."

Designed to evoke the emotions of classic sports cars, the Pontiac Solstice SD-290 race concept captures the purposeful design of vintage racecars. The design is dramatic, featuring a passenger cockpit tonneau cover and a driver windscreen, creating a pure racecar that looks ready to take the checkered flag even while sitting on the starting grid.

Designed for enthusiasts who are passionate about performance, the all-new Pontiac G8 performance sedan – arriving at dealerships in early 2008 – is the first North American application of GM’s new global rear-wheel-drive architecture. The V8-powered G8 GT SEMA Edition was displayed at the ’07 SEMA Show with a host of tuner-inspired custom touches, including a hot orange paint scheme with matching leather seat inserts, door panels and instrument panel pad.

"Built for towing," the Dodge Ram BFT is also one "big fast truck." Designed to be the "ultimate" workhorse, the vehicle will appeal to the hardcore truck buyer. And there’s one thing the heavy-duty trucker can never get enough of: a bigger box.

The spirit of the country music culture is infused in this rolling sound stage, which has been used at the Country Music Festival and other country music artist venues. The bed and tonneau cover of the Silverado 3500HD crew cab open to reveal a makeshift stage, complete with lighting and power for microphones and amplifiers.

At the 2007 SEMA Show, Chevrolet revealed the HHR Panel SS – a customized vision that previews a forthcoming production model differing only slightly from the stylized SEMA concept. The Panel SS fuses the production HHR SS’s turbocharged powertrain and race track-bred suspension with the unique HHR Panel body style.

Chrysler will debut eight ultra-customized Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show, the annual showcase of technology, trends and products representing the $36.7 billion automotive parts and accessories industry.
