Jaguar will continue its 75 anniversary with the unveiling of the XJ75 Platinum Concept today at the Pebble Beach Concours. The concept is based on the XJ luxury sedan and "is the company’s first demonstration of the design customization potential."

The XJ75 Platinum Concept is defined by a white and black contrast theme, new ground-hugging front, rear and side sills, exterior chrome elements painted in either a dark chrome or gloss black and 22" black wheels. The concept is painted in Satin Matte Pearlescent White.

On the interior it gets a bespoke clock developed and designed in partnership with the Bremont Watch Company. "On the inside, we played up the XJ’s combination of high-end materials and British flair to really have some fun. The XJ75 Platinum Concept is a design exercise that shows our vision of customization as an inspiration for those enthusiasts who have a taste for strong individuality and visual confidence in their luxury automobiles."

Next to the IPL G Coupe , Infiniti will also be unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance the new G25 Sedan. The new model will go on sale this September at a price of $30,950 USD.

The new G25 sedan is powered by a 2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine that produces 218 HP and 187 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. It will be available in both rear-wheel drive and intelligent all-wheel drive and three trim levels: G25 Sedan, G25 Sedan Journey and G25x Sedan AWD.

The list of standard equipment will include: leather-appointed seating, Shodo aluminum interior trim, 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power front passenger’s seat, Automatic Temperature Control, premium audio system with six speakers, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately), 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, High Intensity Discharge (HID) Xenon headlights, 4-wheel Anti-lock Disc Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).

The Japanese automaker Nissan has revealed the first official details on it’s latest crossover, the Juke , a CUV that will be coming to America this fall, before the car’s official debut in March at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. With an almost identical design to the Qazana concept, the new Juke was designed to "inject some masculinity and dynamism into the small car market" with its chunky wheels, wide tires, extended ground clearance and robust stance. Meanwhile the interior features a center console that was inspired by a motorcycle’s gas tank.

The European market will get three engine choices: one diesel and two 1.6 Liter gas burning units. The most powerful will be the new turbocharged MR16DDT complete with technologies like direct injection to deliver a total of 190 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque. Then there is a 16 valve naturally aspirated unit that produces a more economical 117 HP, while the 1.5 Liter dCi common rail diesel cranking out 110 HP takes over duties for the alternatively fueled crowd.

The new Juke will be offered in Visia, Acenta and Tekna trim levels, with a total of nine color choices for the exterior, including two shades of white, both solid and pearl, and three other hues unique to the Juke: Force Red, Haptic Blue and Machine Brown. One thing is for certain the new Juke will definitely turn the small CUV market on its head.

Updated 08/11/2010: Nissan today announced prices for the 2011 Juke crossover. The car will go on sale in October and will be priced at $18,960 USD. The 2011 Juke is available in eight models, each powered by a standard 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline Turbo engine rated at 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. A couple of months ago we got a first look at Morgan Motor Company’s plans for an EvaGT when they released a teaser image of the future luxury car. The image was a little dark, but it intrigued us nonetheless. The car is set to debut this weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours , but apparently Morgan thought that an extra little teaser a couple of days before the event wouldn’t hurt. They provided the world with this sketch of the EvaGT and, although it is much better than the obscure teasers Ford provided for the Explorer, it still leaves us wanting more. Ahhh, the beauty of teasers.

The EvaGT is built on a modified version of the aluminum chassis featured on the Aero Supersports and is powered by a BMW 3-liter straight six engine that uses mono twin turbo and direct injection technologies and develops a total of 306 hp and a maximum torque of 295 lb-ft. It’s mated to a six speed automatic gearbox or to a six speed manual transmission. The engine sprints the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 170 mph.

If the specifications and teasers are enough to make you want to take a closer look at the EvaGT then come back this weekend as we will have official details once the car debuts at Pebble Beach. But if you are seriously interested then you better act fast; the EvaGT is set to go into production in 2012 with only 100 units planned and Morgan will be taking deposits on Sunday.

The Toyota Highlander was first unveiled in 2000 and it wasn’t until 2008 that the second generation went on sale. Now, in apparent record time for the Highlander, the crossover will be receiving its first major facelift. The new 2011 Highlander will make its debut later this month at the Moscow Motor Show and will go on sale later this year.

The model will come with a redesigned front fascia that includes new headlights, a new grille with two horizontal lines instead of three, and the front bumper. While there are no details on the car’s specifications we expect to see a 273 HP 3.5 liter V6 engine under the hood and a 2.7 liter four-cylinder unit for the American market. A hybrid version will also be unveiled.

We have to inform you that even if you are looking at the European version, the exact same model will also be offered for the North American market. So what you see, is what you get!

The second generation Scion tC made its world debut today at the 2010 New York Auto Show . It comes with an aggressive new look, new engine, and new technologies.

The 2011 tC is built on a new platform and features a specially tuned MacPherson strut front-suspension and a double-wishbone rear-suspension. Under the hood there is a new 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 180 hp (19hp and 11lbs.-ft. or torque more than the previous model) coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission with improved shift-feel or a six-speed automatic with two additional gears and sequential shift.

The exterior design gets protruding fender flares, a sleek front grille, and projector headlamps, while the modified cabin’s shape is inspired by the Scion FUSE concept unveiled back in 2006. Passengers can now relax comfortably in the elongated cabin with reclining rear seat that split 60/40.

The new Scion tC also arrives with key safety features such as standard Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), active front-headrests, and eight airbags.

UPDATE 08/06/2010: Scion has announced prices for the 2011 Scion tC sports coupe. You can purchase the tC with a manual transmission for only $18,275 or with an automatic transmission for $19,275. Both also carry a $720 destination and handling charge.

There are cars out there that come out and you know, right off the bat, they are going to be the golden child. Then there are cars that are produced and people shrug their shoulders and say, "That’s average." Those "average" cars have to work hard and strive to become the automotive men that everyone vehicle hopes to be. The 2010 Mazda6 fits into the average category. The 6 started out as a nothing, a lowborn family sedan that came from the same platform as the rest of the sedans created by Ford’s legion of minions. After years of hard work things have begun to look up. How things have changed for the 6.

No longer a nobody, the midsize Mazda has grown up and moved away. Ford has cut its stake in Mazda to 13% and my, what it has done. This is no reflection on Ford, they make fantastic cars, but now that Mazda is free to create and produce what they please, the 6 has become a man.

The base model Mazda6 is nicely equipped with loads of power stuff and standard stability control; pretty much the usual things you’ll find on most midsize sedans. The price is even highly competitive at $19,220. Who wants base though, it’s like settling for second best. We chose the i Grand Touring, a seemingly luxury sedan with so many different options on it that it would take a while to describe them all. Hope you have time to spare. Our Mazda Mazda 6 came with proximity-sensing keyless entry and push-button start; 17-inch alloy wheels; rain-sensing windshield wipers; auto-dimming heated outside mirrors with "puddle" lights; automatic Xenon headlights and LED taillights; leather upholstery; and a blind-spot monitoring system. Add the optional moon roof/navigation/Bose audio package and tax and title and you’re looking at one pricey ride.

It’s Mazda’s version of a Lexus , without the dull looks.

Inside sources have let out a much anticipated secret; Ford will unveil an ST version for their new Focus at the Paris Motor Show. At that same show we will also see the full production versions of the five-door and estate models.

Rumors have been getting around that the Focus would be an ideal vehicle to boost and those rumors were solidified when Ford’s product development boss, Derrick Kuzak announced back in March that the new model would get "an EcoBoost turbocharged engine, be exciting to drive, great to look at and certainly worth waiting for”.

So you can expect to see a Focus ST powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo engine that will deliver around 250bhp and 350Nm of torque. These figures are a tad bit lower than the Ford Focus RS model. Why endanger a great vehicle, right? The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in around 6 seconds and top speed will be limited to 155 mph.

The future Focus ST will be offered with clever torque vectoring software and a variety of driving modes. It will go on sale in late 2011.

Lincoln unveiled today at the New York Auto Show, the 2011 MKZ Hybrid. This is the company’s first ever hybrid vehicle, but a logical step if you consider both the Ford Fusion and the Mercury Milan are also available with hybrid drivetrains.

The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid uses Ford’s second-generation hybrid technology – the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 hybrid engine, a system that combines gasoline engine and electric battery-driven motors and delivers a total of 191 hp. In pure electric mode, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid can drive with a top speed of up to 47 mph. Compared to its main competitor, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h , the Lincoln hybrid tops their fuel efficiency by 6mpg with 41mpg in the city.

Also, a trump card that can be played against the 2010 Lexus HS 250h is Lincoln’s extra space allowing for one more passenger, segment-exclusive safety features, and more standard luxury. The Lincoln luxury hybrid sedan will be offered with: Smart Smart Gauge with EcoGuide, Lincoln SYNC, 10-Way Power Passenger Seat Seat , Genuine Wood Trim, Reverse Sensing System, Keyless Entry Keypad, Personal Safety System, Acoustic Laminated Windshield and standard Bridge of Weir leather seats. These items will either not be offered with the Lexus or will come with an additional price tag.

Updated 07/22/2010: Lincoln today announced prices for the 2011 MKZ Hybrid that will go on sale this fall. Prices will start at $35,180, a price identical to the 2011 Lincoln MKZ gas model and below the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, the MKZ Hybrid’s nearest competitor.

The Korean automaker Kia has officially released details about the next generation Sportage SUV, the 2011 Kia Sportage.
Sharing the same platform with its compatriot, the Hyundai Tucson , the 2011 Sportage looks to have the leg-up on the Tucson in terms of being a little bigger and wider, which should translate into having a roomier interior.

The design for the 2011 Sportage also seems to have benefitted from the supervision of Peter Schreyer, whose previous design work with Audi has seemingly translated into some of the aesthetic design cues that can be noticed in the new Sportage, including sharper curves, and a completely revamped front end that previous Sportage models didn’t come in.

Featuring a fresh, bold, athletic and sporty design; longer, lower and wider than the previous generation model, the new Sportage will offer more space for people and cargo, with improved ride quality thanks to the longer wheelbase; the new Sportage will go on sale later this year, with a choice of both diesel and gasoline engines following its debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
