Pininfarina and Ferrari are two companies in the automotive industry that live and breathe pure excellence. Match them up with one of the most luxurious events of the year - the Villa d Este Concorso D’Eleganza - and the outcome is a one-off model based on either the 599 GTB Fiorano or the P540 Superfast Aperta (pictured).

It is described as a "convertible, 6 cilindri, 6000 ccm" model. While we only have the first details at the momemt, the official press release says:

"A recent and fascinating trend in the rarefied world of top end Ferrari collectors is the commissioning of one off bespoke version of high end models from Italian coach builders. Several ‘special clients’ have approached Pininfarina (and others) in recent years to build uniquely styled cars, an idea that goes back to the fifties went customers like film director Roberto Rossellini had a special car built for his wife, Ingrid Bergman. The Jeep Wrangler is not only one of the most capable off road vehicles ever made, but also one of the most historically significant. The first Jeep vehicle to wear the Wrangler badge actually appeared in 1987, yet its roots go back to the 1941 Willy MB Army Jeep. That quarter ton vehicle carried the United States military through conflict after conflict essentially until invention of the HUMVEE.

Today, the Wrangler remains a favorite amongst the off-roading crowd and tends to be heavily modified by many. The new 2011 Jeep Wrangler body has given this classic vehicle a new lease on life, especially as far as the interior goes. These off road behemoths can now become capable on the outside and full of comfort on the inside. Hundreds of parts and accessories companies exist for the Wrangler, but the most complete and radical designs have come from a young company by the name of Hauk Designs.

If you have been in the off-road marketplace then the name River Raider Off Road may come to mind and this new full service company has come out of that. We recently spoke with Kenny Hauk of Hauk Designs and talked to him about the various models that the company now builds for its customers. He mentioned that the custom designed and fabricated parts that River Raider was building became so popular that his customers were asking to have their Jeeps completely built by the company. The current business plan features three distinct models each with a myriad of options to choose from.

BMW is set to unveil the new generation 1-Series codenamed F20 in just a few months, so it is only natural that they release a few teaser images before that time. The first teaser image has already been revealed on the site, www.2originals.com, but it doesn’t reveal much of what the new hatchback will bring to the table.

Thankfully, we already know a little bit about the new 1-Series. The 2012 MY hatchback will be offered as a five-door first and will then be followed with other variants for the next year after that. Spy shots revealed that the new 1-Series will be built on a longer wheelbase and wider track than the current model, and that it will also be offered with new engines and improved technologies.

These are the only details BMW has allowed us to gather at the moment, but we should have more for you when the car makes its world debut in September at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

It was onlt a year ago that we saw the Opel GTC Paris Concept car, but the company is ready with the production version, the Astra GTC. This model will be offered in both 3- and 5-door versions and will make its world debut in September at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The funny part about a debut in September is that full details, including pricing, technology, equipment, and powertrains for the vehicle, will be revealed on June 7th, around the same time Opel will begin taking orders for the car.

As of right now, the only details we have are that the production GTC will feature a 3-door body with dramatic proportions, yet will be capable of carrying five adults. It will feature the very best of Opel’s latest technology, as well as unique chassis features. No details have been revealed about the engine, but the concept featured a 2.0 liter Turbo with direct injection fitted with Start/Stop technology and a six-speed manual gearbox.

Just as BMW promised back in February, they have arrived at the 2011 New York Auto Show with the return of a 4-cylinder engine to the US line-up. The first vehicle to benefit from this new engine is the Z4 sDrive28i. This new model will go on sale this fall and will replace the Z4 sDrive30i (pictured).

The new 4-cylinder engine delivers a total of 240 HP at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 260 lb-ft at only 1,250 rpm. This power will allow 30% more torque than the inline-six engine and achieves 1,500 rpm earlier.

The 4-cylinder engine features an all-aluminum crankcase and is lighter and more compact than a 6-cylinder engine. The turbocharger is a twin-scroll system. The exhaust streams out in two separate pairs of cylinders, flowing through the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger, then circulating to the turbine wheel.

The new Z4 sDrive28i will be offered with an eight speed automatic transmission and will offer a fuel efficiency gain of approximately 20% over the naturally aspirated engine it replaces.

When Shelby unveiled their new, slithery GT500 Super Snake , we thought this was all that we were going to get in New York. Don’t get us wrong, we were pleased with the package, but now that the company has also unveiled the GTS package based on the V6 Mustang , we twice as happy as we were at the beginning. The GTS package will be offered in both coupe and convertible version with prices starting from $9,995.

The main add-on for the GTS package is a Ford Racing handling pack including new springs, tuned stabilizer bars, and front strut tower brace, and the fresh air package for the normally aspirated V6 tune or V8. Other noteworthy additions are the new Borla exhaust system, Shelby Shelby / Baer brakes, redesigned classic Shelby hood, a black billet upper grill with Ford “Running Pony” emblem, unique Shelby front fascias, and Shelby stripes and badges. The Mustang also comes with an official Shelby CSM interior plate.

"Our Shelby GTS is a fantastic way to pump up the capabilities of a stock Mustang within a budget without sacrificing performance," added Mr. Luft. "It’s a car that reaches a younger buyer while acknowledging the economic realities of our times."
