Mitsubishi will unveil in March at the Geneva Motor show the new generation Outlander - a model that "is meant to better comply with the times." The new model will be similar in sizes to the car it replaces, but will adopt the latest Mitsubishi design language defined by "Solid – Safe – Simple".

On the interior the company focused on offering a better driver concentration. For this the new Outlander will be featuring an ergonomic steering wheel controls as well as high-resolution and easy-to-read instrument displays. Mitsubishi will also be offering better materials like: padded surfaces, soft-touch finish, silver accents, gloss black appliques.

The new generation Outlander will go on sale this summer.

Based on the MX-5 Miata Grand Touring model, the car will be limited to only 450 models, distinguishing itself with a number of unique additions that include two new exterior colors, a black-only power retractable hard top, blah exterior accents, a new set of 17" gunmetal wheels, heated black leather seats, and interior finishes dressed in piano black.

Performance specs will remain the same, which means that the car will sport a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that produces 167 horsepower and 158 lb/ft of torque and will be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed sport automatic transmission.

The MX-5 Miata Special Edition’s participation at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show was done as a tribute to Mazda’s debut on the global stage back in 1989. Sin Sin ce then, the Miata has become one of the most popular roadsters in the world, selling over a million models since it made its debut 23 years ago.

UPDATE 02/08/2012: The special edition Mazda MX-5 has made its debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Limited to only 450 units, the model will go on sale at the end of February 2012 at a starting price of $31,225 for the manual transmission and $31,675 when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. The model is equipped with both the Premium and Suspension packages as standard.

The GMC Acadia began its history back in 2007 when the standard model was first introduced to the market. In 2010, GMC added the Denali version and just one year later, in 2011, the model had the best sales in its five-year history. Wanting to keep the momentum going, GMC is offering some refreshing updates to the 2013 model year for both the standard and Denali versions, which it introduced at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Sales will begin in late 2012.

"With an award-winning combination of space, capability and fuel-efficiency, Acadia epitomizes GMC’s ’never say never’ attitude," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of GMC Marketing. "For 2013, our engineers and designers applied that same attitude to developing the new Acadia."

Changes for the 2013 GMC Acadia include a new exterior design highlighted by signature LED lighting, plus a refined interior with soft-touch materials, accent stitching, and ambient lighting. As for power, GMC has kept the usual 3.6L direct injection V-6 engine under the hood.

The Nissan Pathfinder entered the market in 1986 and is currently only in its third generation (which began in 2005). With seven years under its belt, it’s high time for this SUV to enter the next chapter of its life and Nissan is prepping that with its first concept version unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The concept’s exterior will mostly be remained untouched in the production version and includes a wide chrome grille and large aerodynamic headlights, recessed front windshield wipers, chrome door handles and large rear combination lights.

The new Pathfinder Concept is powered by a refined V6 engine and next-generation Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that ensure a fuel economy increase of over 25%.

"Nissan is in a great position today. Sales are up, market share is increasing and our dealers have a great selection of 2012 Nissan cars, trucks and SUVs in inventory," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "This new Pathfinder Concept is just the beginning of a far-reaching wave of new products on the horizon for Nissan. By the end of 2012, more than 70 percent of our sales volume will be all-new or redesigned."

UPDATE 02/08/12: A full month after the Pathfinder Concept’s unveiling, Nissan is offering new details on the preview SUV’s interior features. It seems that the concept, and the future production version, will be offered with leather upholstery, heated / cooled front seats, a power tilt / telescoping steering wheel, and a Bose audio system. There’s also a push-button ignition, tri-zone climate control, Bluetooth/iPod connectivity, GPS navigation, and a rear seat entertainment system. As a bonus to this news, Nissan is also offering new images and a new video showing the concept during cold weather testing.

The history of the SVT (Ford’s Special Vehicle Team) began at the 1992 Chicago Auto Show with the unveiling of the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning and now, as a celebration of their 20th anniversary, Ford has unveiled the 2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.

Just like with the coupe version , the GT500 Convertible is powered by a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 650 HP. When equipped with the optional Performance Package, the new GT500 Convertible is nearly 3.5 seconds faster than the outgoing model at Sebring International Raceway.

"The Shelby GT500 convertible is every bit the performer that the coupe is," said Kerry Baldori, SVT Global Performance Vehicles chief engineer. "All of the significant changes we made in the program were instrumental in delivering a convertible that could really shine on the track but can still be driven on a daily basis."

Volkswagen already offers a Cabriolet version for their standard Golf VI model , but the 2012 Geneva Motor Show will set the stage for the unveiling of the GTI Convertible. In fact, this model has already been previewed with the unveiling of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet Concept last year, but of course the production model does not look as aggressive as the concept.

The new GTI Convertible carries the typical visual trademarks of the GTI that include red framing at the top and bottom of the radiator grille, a large air inlet screen, a new rear diffuser and chrome tailpipes on the left and right under the rear bumper.

Under the hood you will find the usual 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 210 HP and sprints the car from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds (0.4 seconds slower than the GTI hatch) and up to a top speed of 147 mph.

Nissan will be unveiling a preview version of a new addition to the B-segment at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The Invitation concept will be introduced next to the Micra city car and the Juke crossover. The production version of the Invitation will follow sometime in 2013.

The first details of the Invitation offered by Nissan state that the concept will combine "fresh style, innovation, and excitement." The concept’s sides are dominated by a distinctive character line, known internally as the "Squash Line," which adds a powerful dynamism to its profile with distinctive sculpted front and rear wings. The interior combines the latest technologies with high quality materials.

At this point, Nissan hasn’t revealed what engine will be used for the Invitation, but they have confirmed that it will offer an ultra-low CO2 emission target of under 100g/km. This tells us that we should expect to see the supercharged 1.0-litre engine already used in the Micra . However, whichever engine ends up underneath that hood, Nissan has promised class-leading levels of fuel efficiency and emissions.

Nissan 370Z

This news may come as a surprise considering that, before this, we have never heard about an updated version of the 370Z nor have we seen spy shots to indicate its existence. However, it has now been reported that Nissan will be bringing an updated version of the 370Z , both coupe and roadster models, to next week’s Chicago Auto Show.

With an announcement like this, no other information was necessary to create a buzz, so no other details were provided. But since the updated sports car has kept its "370Z" nomenclature, don’t expect any major changes under the hood. We expect it to keep its usual 3.7-liter V6 engine with an output of 332 HP at 7,000 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. However, we do expect changes in terms of fuel economy because it’s what many, if not all, automakers are focusing on.

Changes will also be made to both the exterior and interior, but considering the model was just launched in 2009, nothing major is expected.

More details will be revealed next week at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, so stay tuned!

A few days ago, Chrysler created an official Facebook page for their upcoming SRT Viper and promised that if the page received 10,000 likes by February 1st, they would reveal a teaser image of the next Viper. As expected, the page had received 10,000 likes in just a few hours and now Chrysler has kept their promise. This first teaser image isn’t much, but at least it allows us an idea of how cool the new Viper will be.

As many already know, the future supercar will drop the "Dodge " name and will instead be simply called the SRT Viper. It has been rumored that the next generation Viper will keep its V10 engine, but unlike the previous generation, will use an 8.7 liter displacement instead. Output is believed to be in the 700 HP area.

The new SRT Viper will be making its world debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show in April. Stay tuned for more details!
