2011 Abarth 500 "Motore Centrale R230" by Anzom

Aznom’s work on the Abarth 500 isn’t so much about the added output the little Italian hatch gets – 230 ponies for good measure – but more so on how they did it. You don’t get to wake up everyday and see an engine placed inside a clear, transparent box, do you? Yeah, we didn’t think so.

Traditionally a front-engine car, the folks over at Aznom decided to turn the Abarth hatch into a mid-engine, rear-drive vehicle, one that harkens back to the days of the original 500. Even better than rearranging the car’s overall set-up was the fact that the tuning company also tuned the car’s 1.4-liter turbo four engine all the way up to 230 horsepower and 243 lb/ft of torque. Figures may not mean much in a world littered with 300+ horsepower sports cars, but for a tiny hatch that weighs less than a ton, that’s a mighty impressive number.

Throw in other goodies like a new suspension with Bilstein dampers, upgraded brakes, and a set of Kumho tires, and you’ll have a car that’s going to make heads turn for all the right reasons. Let’s just all hope that the people over at Aznom won’t charge as hefty a price tag for the privilege of owning one in the future.

I like this cool and cute concept made here. Another hatchback that took my attention, definitely shows more beauty and very petite and young design.

I find it more covenant to drive and at the same time to make loads in your car. Small yet efficient for speed lightweight and style.

Well, I have to say that the car has an awesome speed performance. The front engine of the car produce an impressive speed performance. I like the styling of the Abarth 500.

I really like the styling of Abarth vehicle. This is much better compare to Fiat! I was impressed with the 230 ponies deliver by its engine. Anzom really makes an awesome job in here.

I notice the color of the side mirror and for me, it does not fit on the car. As a hatchback car, the output is fine but being fine is not enough for Abarth to be happy. Change is permanent in the world of cars, so they must give more tweaks on this one.

Yeah! The styling was great and I think they have made an awesome work here! It seems that the Anzom made an awesome modification here.

Nice! I like the details on the exterior of this car. Pretty smart and they have perfectly differ the platform of the Abarth into Smart cars! I’m really impressed with the look and as well as the figure performance of this car.

Well, that’s really what this one is all about, dressing up a compact car. And I would say that they did a great job on this one. Also love the work that they did on the engine.

Talking about the design, Well this is definitely not the best compact cars that I have seen! BTW, the aesthetic of this car is more appropriate to be called a small car.

I have to say that this is the most beautiful compact car that I have seen and comparing it to the 500., well, its far better! The power performance is kind of amazing.

If I remember it right this one looks like a mazda, the car model used in a shampoo commercial although the doors are different since the doors on that that commercial is located on sides unlike this one where one door is at the back.

@Ping Guerrero I would definitely agree with you on that one. These compact cars are really improving a lot in the past few years, both in terms of power and fuel efficiency.

When it comes to the design, there is no difference between the Mini, Fiat and the Abarth. I want to see them on the car race!

Of all the compact cars, i think the Abarth is the most consistent with their design. There car is sporty and the performance quite good.

hmm. I have to say that this car looks similar with the Smart car. However, the performance same with Megane. And compared to the RenaultSport, the latter looks more sporty and reliable.

Well, there’s a growing popularity among compact cars, since they are very fuel-efficient and the performance is not far from a midsize car. I think this car is the solution for fuel crisis!

Hmm, a mid engined Abarth 500, that would definitely be quite an interesting build. They really made a great project out of this one.

Hmm, this one really looks kind of cute. But it was really surprising how they were able to do the engine on this one, especially the mid-engine conversion.
