We’ve all seen and heard from Tune It! Safe! over the years for their rather ambitious projects in turning just about every car - exotic or otherwise - they get their hands on into something dressed in police livery. Or in their case, "Polizia".
So it really wasn’t all that surprising to see these guys at the Essen Motor Show proudly displaying their latest work, one that involves an ABT Sportsline-tuned Audi R8 GTR that has been dressed with - what else? - police regalia.
Taking the police livery - which, by the way, was done by Foliatec - out of the equation, this R8 GTR does come with plenty of enhancements on its own, including an extensive carbon fiber body kit, an "RTK-7" police lights from Hella, a sports-tuned suspension system, a new set of 19" wheels wrapped in Hankook tires with carbon ceramic brakes, Recaro seats, and a fully-prepped rollbar.
Since Tune It! Safe! went and used an ABT R8 GTR - one of the 25 available units, we suppose - it goes without saying that the police-dressed supercar comes packed with plenty of performance upgrades, one that ended up bumping the 5.2-liter V10 engine’s output all the way up to a mouth-watering 620 horsepower and 406 lb/ft of torque. These numbers translate to a 0-62 mph time of just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph.
Quirkiness aside, we actually dig what these guys did with the ABT R8 GTR. And if we were running away from the cops, this is one police car that we wouldn’t want too see in our rear-view mirrors.
If it was an actual one, that is.
With 340 HP, the Audi RS3 is no doubt a very powerful wagon. Of course, that doesn’t mean that tuning firms are going to leave the vehicle untouched; hey, station wagons need a little love too. German tuner, ABT Sportsline’s love translates into 80 extra horsepower - up to 420 HP - with a second stage bringing out 470 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque! Who says, station wagons are boring?
In order to obtain the extra 130 HP for the second stage, the tuner installed an ABT turbocharger, a modified motor management, and a two-pipe stainless steel ABT exhaust system. This allows the Audi Rs3 to deliver a 0 to 60 mph sprint of just under 4 seconds. Both the first and second stage also get their top speed limiter removed allowing for a top speed of 177 mph.
Next to the engine upgrades, the tuner is also offering a new set of ABT light alloy wheels, size 19", wrapped in high-performance tires, 255/30 R19 on the front axle and 225/35 R19 on the rear.
The Volkswagen Tiguan has just recently received a facelift so it would make perfect sense for ABT Sportsline to revise the tuning package they prepared back in 2007. Their latest tuning kit includes a series of exterior and interior upgrades, plus plenty of engine upgrades for all the models in the line-up.
The exterior package refines the look of the SUV with a prominent front grill, door strips, and a rear wing set with a pronounced rear muffler. The tuner is also advising its clients to opt for a new set of DR alloys wheels in combination with high-performance tires.
So far, the package is a big fat yawn, but then we get into the modifications made under the hood. ABT Sportsline has taken the 2.0 TDI version and increased its output from 140 HP to 170 HP. They then followed it with the 1.4 liter turbo which jumped from 160 HP to 210 HP. If the power jump isn’t enough for these two engines, they succeeded in keeping the fuel consumption exactly the same. Although exact figures weren’t provided, we can’t say the same for the top version, the 2.0-TSI engine, which has received a jump from 210 HP to 250 HP. All of these updates were done by using ABT’s Power upgrade system.
The most impressive model ABT brought to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show was the R8 GT S, but alongside the luscious R8, the German tuner also brought a nifty package for the new generation Audi A6. The modified A6 includes a some exterior updates and some changes under the hood too.
The exterior package includes new side skirts, a front spoiler, a rear skirt insert, 4-end pipes, and a new rear spoiler. No changes were made for the interior, but the luxury sedan is luxurious for a reason, so no changes were necessary for the inside of it.
For the most powerful engine in the A6 line-up, ABT Sportsline reworked the power from a standard 300 HP to an impressive 410 HP. However, the 3.0 TDI engine has also received two different updates, getting the power up to 282 HP or 310 HP from a standard 245 HP.

What does it take to transform a good looking car into an amazing piece of fiery carbon fiber goodness? Well, for starters, it takes tons of carbon fiber (a given), a red exterior paint job, and an engine update fit for a street king. Potential suitor, meet your mate in the Audi R8 Spyder made over by ABT Sportsline. Their package, called the R8 GT S, made its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and instantly grabbed hold of our hearts.
For this project, ABT took the standard V10 engine and updated its output to an impressive 620 HP, up from the standard 525 HP. The result is a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph. But the most impressive feature for the new R8 GT S is its exterior and interior look. ABT has chosen to dress up the Audi R8 in full carbon fiber garbs, from the bonnet to the rear wing, and then doused it with a sleek red paint finish. The same treatment has also been applied in the interior.
