After revealing the ILX Concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January, Acura has quickly followed it up with the production version at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Carrying the same ILX name, the new sedan will be offered with a choice of two different engines, as well as a Hybrid version for those with a particular love for the environment.
The Acura ILX addresses the young buyers that are looking for their first luxury vehicle. Acura has promised the ILX will be a cheaper alternative to models like the Buick Verano and the Audi A3.
"First-time luxury buyers tend to place a high value on exterior styling, affordability and environmental issues, and that’s what we have created with the new Acura ILX," said Jon Ikeda, head of the Acura Design Studio. "The strategy behind this new model is to position ILX as the first opportunity for many young buyers to enter the luxury market."

Years after Seinfeld went off air, Jerry Seinfeld still has comedic timing intact. That Acura NSX commercial he did for the Super Bowl with Jay Leno was a hoot and a half.
Drawing from the overwhelmingly positive reception they received from the ad, Acura has decided to add to the comedy by releasing extra footages from all the "offerings" Jerry made to the first prospective owner of the NSX.
Check out all the ads after the jump and watch how he tries to convince the owner to take a munchkin, watch him do sock puppet reprisals of Jersey Gangland, make small talk with the "omelet guy", and even do a painfully awkward, albeit hilarious, stand-up routine during a family dinner.
Everything we love about Jerry Seinfeld was on full display in the ad. And knowing how Acura can milk this for everything its worth leading up to the NSX’s release, we’re pretty sure that we haven’t seen the last of Jerry Seinfeld in his quest to own the very first production Acura NSX.
Whereas other car companies are making do with creative Super Bowl commercials, Honda is doing it with a lot of star power. We’ve seen Matthew Broderick bring his Ferris Bueller role back to life for the Honda CR-V and now, Honda’s sister company, Acura, has upped the ante with Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno.
Granted, the car being featured in the ad - the new NSX - is being touted as the next great Japanese sports car so it figures that Acura would go all out in promoting the car during the Super Bowl.
In the ad, Jerry Seinfeld goes through extreme lengths to convince the one guy that’s going to get the NSX before him to switch places with him. He brings him an alien in a body bag, he does a stand-up routine over a family dinner, and he even brings back the last "supposedly dead" munchkin to life.
And just when he thought that he had finally convinced the guy to hand over the number 1 spot, Jay Leno comes from out of nowhere riding a jet pack and promising a flight from New York to LA in just 20 minutes.
Do you remember the Acura Concept spied a while ago on the movie set for The Avengers? Well, If you do, you may be interested in knowing that this high speed roadster is priced at an amazing $9,198,000 and gets 234 mpg!
Movie website, Collider, was able to get up close and personal with the Acura star car and have provided pictures of all of its nifty features. For example, the concept is powered by a palladium-powered 80,000 TOHC 32-valve engine with titanium-forged block and nitrous fuel-injection system combined with a 9-Speed HYPER-Shift transmission. There aren’t any details on the engine’s output, but the concept can achieve 234 mpg in city traffic and 302 mpg on the highway. Now that’s efficiency!
The exterior of the concept shows off an underbody kit with an aero-dynamic spoiler lip and black-night painted-wheels with particle matter technology. Since this is a superhero movie car, it was also equipped with plenty of defensive systems like advanced radar-deflecting capabilities with wave modifier, a bullet and foreign element-proof clear coat, and metal skin and bulletproof hyper-traction tires.
Wouldn’t be cool to see a vehicle like this on the streets one day? As long as it comes with a cheaper price, we’re all in!
The new re-imagined Acura NSX made its debut just yesterday and it is already the star in a video for Gran Turismo 5, joined by the original NSX. This isn’t exactly an official confirmation of the future sports car’s entrance into the gaming world, but it’s a pretty solid hint. Think of it this way: The same thing happened with the recently launched Toyota GT 86 and it is now being offered in the 2.02 update of GT5.
The Acura NSX Concept previews the future NSX supercar and presents the first application of Acura’s innovative new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system. This system combines a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system that allows the car to instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering. Throw in Acura’s next generation VTEC 3.5-liter V6 with direct-injection and a dual clutch transmission with a built-in electric motor, and you’re looking at a future production car with insane capabilities and killer style.
