Alfa Romeo Milano

Alfa Romeo Milano

The Italian automaker Alfa Romeo introduced a new baby Alfa into their lineup when the compact Milano model replaced the classic 147 city car. Named after the world renowned fashion capital, the Milano takes its design inspiration from other models like the Alfa 8C Competizione super car, with its classic Alfa Romeo front end defined by sporty details like the inverted triangle shaped grill. The new Milano will share its platform with the next generation Alfa 159, or Giulia as it is more commonly known. The platform, called C-Evo, is able to accommodate both front and four wheel drive layouts. With the grip of 4WD reserved for future high performance GTA models. Under the hood, the 147’s replacement will be powered by both four and six cylinder engines, giving the Milano an output anywhere from 120 HP to 265 HP, with the latter making for one very hot hatch.

Progetto940.it revealed today a new rendering of the future Alfa Romeo 149 , this time inspired by the Kamal Concept and with the same styling as the new Mito and the 8C Competizione . If this sketch becomes the production car, it is just one more reason we want Alfa to return to the U.S.

The successor of the 147 will be built on an entirely new platform, internally known as the "C-Evo". The chassis is taken from Fiat Bravo and Lancia Lancia Delta Delta . Under the hood Alfa Romeo will place a 1.4 T-jet engine with output between 120 and 150 hp. The GTA version will be offered with either a 1.6 or a 1.8-liter engine with output up to 190 hp.

For Europe, the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show will be the place for the 149’s unveiling. Untiil then we speculate! This latest rendering come from the Italian page OmniAuto.

A brand new Italian hot-hatch is currently in development by Alfa Romeo. Coming to replace the 147 that charmed all of us with an unmistakable design back in the year 2000, the new vehicle will be called 149. Following the Alfa Romeo’s “Cuore Sportivo” (sporty soul) slogan, the Italian compact to be launched in late 2007 is expected to surpass in terms of looks of all its competitors and offer a great driving experience. Let us hope that reliability and durability will be there to sustain such a beautiful design.
