Here’s a quick recipe for a rendering of the Alfa Romeo Milano GTA: start with the spy shots, take a few hints from the teaser image, and then photoshop what was learned over the MiTo GTA photos. While this formula would normally not earn a spot on our page, the result from an Alfa Blog submitter was done strikingly well. As Alfa Romeo changes the remaining number cars to names, the Milano will be the replacement for the 147. This will be an entry into the luxury small car market, so the Milano’s name competition will be models like the Audi A3 range. We expect the engine lineup to include four and six cylinder engines starting at 120 hp and topping out with the GTA at about 265 hp.

 Alfa Romeo is preparing a successor for the 147. As Alfa’s evolution goes we were predicting it would be called the 149, but last month Chrysler accidentally revealed that number scheme was going out the door. Now we know its planned to be called Milano, and that there are plans to sell it in the U.S. If this teaser image is to be believed, it would will be a welcomed rival to cars like the Audi A3. Although we can’t see much, the linage to the little brother MiTo is obvious. When this curvy little car finally breaks cover, we expect a lineup that includes four and six cylinder engines making 120 to 265 hp.

 Alfa Romeo is working on a successor for the 147. It was supposed to be called 149, but Chrysler revealed by mistake its official name: Milano. The appearance of the Milano in Chrysler’s viability plan raised serious questions about if more Alfa cars will be heading stateside in the near future. When/if the Milano appears in North America, the up-market hot-hatch would be a competitor for the Audi A3. Engine choices should range between four and six cylinder, making 120 to 265 hp. While enthusiasts are big fans of hot-hatches, pricing will have to be very competitive for this to be successful with usually hatch-fearing mainstream America.

After last details about the Alfa Romeo 149 revealed last week, we bring you today new rendering of the future small car created specially for TopSpeed by our designer. The 149 is based on the same platform as the Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta. Just like the Alfa’s smallest car, the MiTo, the 149 will borrow from the lines of the 8C Competizione and translate it into a small hatch — not a bad place to start. Under the hood Alfa Romeo will place a range of 1.4-liter gas turbo and 1.9 diesel units ranging from 120bhp to 250bhp. Its world debut will be made early in 2009 with production to begin later in the year.

It will be offered in both three and five doors version and will go on sale in the middle of next year as a direct rival to Ford’s Focus (European version). The 149 is based on the same platform as the Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta. Just like the Alfa’s smallest car, the MiTo, the 149 will borrow from the lines of the 8C Competizione and translate it into a small hatch — not a bad place to start. Under the hood Alfa Romeo will place a range of 1.4-liter gas turbo and 1.9 diesel units ranging from 120bhp to 250bhp. This is the exact kind of design that will make small cars popular in the U.S. If (and this is a big IF) Alfa can bring this here as both stylish and frugal, it may have a revolution on its hands.

If this sketch becomes the production car, it is just one more reason we want Alfa to return to the U.S. The successor of the 147 will be built on an entirely new platform, internally known as the "C-Evo". The future Alfa Romeo 149 will be built on a somewhat new platform that will be used in the future for other compact models. The platform, internally known as the "C-Evo" takes the chassis from Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta and modifies it enough to be able to call it new. This platform will be use on all future segment C and D of the group, including the successor for the 159.

MiTo will be the replacement for the three-door version of the 147, while the 149 will be successor for the 147 five-door version. 149 will offer between 120 and 265 hp, the top version being powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine. Its world debut will be made early in 2009 with production to begin later in the year.

MiTo will be the replacement for the three-doors version of the 147, while the 149 will be successor for the 147 five-doors version. But the future 149 will not be built on the same platform as the current Fiat Punto, as previously reported.
