Is Alfa Romeo preparing a new 8C Competizione? Well, if recent viewings of prototypes caught testing have any say in it (which they always do) then we would have to say, “Yes!” It also helps that we have been hearing about this version for a few years now so production pretty much seems to be set in stone at this point. The new Competizione will be called the Alfa Romeo 8C GTA (Gran Turismo Allegerito) and is said to be a more exotic version of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. . It is also said to be modeled after the classic 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA. Pictures of the new Alfa Romeo->ke1386 8C GTA have already been floating around the web, but here are some nice renderings of the new beast that will surely tickle some fancies.

Full story after the jump.

2010 Alfa Romeo 8C GTA

Specifications
  • Make: Array
  • Model: 2010 Alfa Romeo 8C GTA
  • [do not use] Vehicle Model: Array

The “Allegerito” is in the name stand for lightened in Italian and that is exactly what the GTA will be. This model is said to lose as much as 150kg and will get an increase in performance that will launch it over the 500bhp mark. The jump in horsepower will be made by recalibrating the existing 4.7 liter V8 engine. A slight increment in wheel track and larger wheel passes will be made to host larger wheels prepared to welcome the boost of power. All that power will also be supported by a lower stance, revised aerodynamics, and larger air intakes. The additional muscle means that the 8C GTA will be able to make a 0 to 60 MPH sprint in less than 4 seconds, while the top speed will be raised to 200 MPH.

This model is said to be unveiled sometime this year, but will be limited to only 100 units. As a reminder, that is much less than the offerings of the Alfa Romeo->ke1386 8C Competizione at 500 coupes and 500 roadsters so we know this car will be that much better.

Prices will start at over 200,000 EUR so start preparing now. It’s a small price to pay for a high performance variant of the already extravagant 8C Competizione.
