Alfa Romeo->ke1386 may not be one of the most wide-reaching brands in the world, but that’s not to say that the Italian automaker isn’t one of the better brands out on the market today.

Despite not having the reach of brands like Toyota->ke88 and Volkswagen->ke94, Alfa Romeo still boasts of a fairly impressive line-up of cars, one of which is the 159->ke1912 model.

Recently, Alfa released a special “Super” edition of the 159, a model that comes loaded with loads of new aesthetic features on both the exterior and interior of the car. While the engine was left untouched – it has the standard 2.0 JDTM engine with 136 horsepower - there are still plenty of additions done on the car to make it worth a second, third, and fourth look.

The “Super” designation isn’t actually a newly conceived concept from Alfa Romeo. Back in the 70’s, the same tag was used for a sports version of the Giulietta->ke3589.

A little over 30 years later, the Alfa Romeo "Super" designation is back and ready to roar into action.

Exterior and Interior

For today's 159 Super, the exterior was dressed up with a satin finish for the door mirrors, and, on top of that, was outfitted with a set of 17” wheels with a five double-spoke design lined up in a dark finish. As for the interior, you’ll get more goodies in the form of a navigation system that comes with maps of European countries, a Bluetooth-capable Blue & Me system, a handful of carbon fiber trims, specifically on the center console, and a multi-functioning steering wheel, among others.

Performance

The Alfa Romeo 159 Super is powered by a 2.0 JDTM engine that produces 136 horsepower.

Pricing

The Super option will be available for the 2011 sedan and the station wagon with a corresponding price tag of €23,700 and €24,900 (about $32,100 and $33,700), respectively.

Competition

While the Alfa Romeo 159 is an attractive looking car on its own, it still doesn't have the same cache and brand appreciation compared to its German counterparts, particularly the BMW 3-Series, the Audi A4, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In terms of performance, the Alfa Romeo 159 falls a little short compared to its German rivals, making it the kind of purchase that you'd make if the 159 is a choice based solely on British preference.
