Ascari Ecosse

Ascari Ecosse

The Ascari Ecosse is a mid engine sports car produced by Lee Noble and his British based super car builder Ascari. The Escosse was the first production car released by Ascari Cars in 1998 and is based on the Ascari FGT Concept. The production version is powered by a 4.7 Liter BMW V8 engine tuned by the high performance specialists at Hartge to produce 400 HP. Weighing in at 2,756 pounds, the Ecosse is capable of ripping from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 200 MPH. Only 17 examples are known to have ever been produced in the super car's two year production run.

Although the Essen Motor Show finished over a week ago, occasionally we find a few cars that slip through the cracks. Unusually we wouldn’t bother posting pics about new wheels on a car that has been out of production for over a decade, But this is different. There are less than ten Ascari Ecosse still out there, so spotting one is a rare sight.

So what makes the the Ecosse so special? It’s powered by a 300 hp 4.4 liter V8 or a 400 hp 4.7-liter both sourced from BMW. When equipped with the latter engine, the lightweight Ecosse can make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds and can hit a top speed of 200 mph. While this car may seem impressive, it was just the launching pad for Ascari’s superfast KZ1 .
