After seven years of successful history, the Aston Martin DB9 has received a complete package of styling, engineering, and equipment enhancements. Prices in the UK will begin at £122,445 ($182,775) for the Coupe and £131,445 ($196,000) for the Volante. On the exterior the biggest change is a new bumper with a re-shaped lower intake featuring hexagonal mesh to compliment the new bright finish radiator grille. The DB9 also gets a more prominent ‘hockey stick’ curve ahead of the rear wheels, silver brake calipers, 20-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels as standard, together with new design option wheels and a bright finish grille. Under the hood there is a 6.0-liter V12 engine delivering an unchanged 470bhp and 442lb ft of torque and mated to a choice of six-speed ‘Touchtronic’ paddle-shift automatic or six-speed H-pattern manual transmission. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in just 4.6 seconds and top speed goes up to 190 mph. Also the DB9’s passive damping system has been replaced by a new Adaptive Damping System (ADS), which offers enhanced ride comfort together with sharper handling when switched to Sport mode. Updated 09/07/2010: Aston Martin today announced US prices for the 2011 DB9 sports car that will go on sale in the third quarter of this year. The coupe version will be priced at $187,615 for the Coupe, and $201,115 for the Volante. Press release after the jump. Press release In the most significant programme of upgrades since its world debut in 2003, Aston Martin’s DB9 range has received a complete package of styling, engineering and equipment enhancements. BackgroundThe introduction of the DB9 marked the beginning of Aston Martin’s 21st Century renaissance. The first new model to be built at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, and the first to be built around Aston Martin’s rigid, lightweight, bonded aluminium VH architecture; the DB9 was an immediate and unparalleled success, setting a new tone for Aston Martins of the future. EngineeringSince the DB9’s introduction Aston Martin has demonstrated the versatility of the VH architecture by developing the Vantage, DBS and Rapide model ranges. In the process Aston Martin’s engineers have gained an increasingly detailed understanding of the VH platform, which in turn has led to the constant improvement and evolution of existing established models. DesignImproving upon what many consider to be one of the most beautiful cars in the world is a delicate exercise. According to Aston Martin’s Director of Design, Marek Reichman, subtlety and fine attention to detail is the key: “The beauty of an Aston Martin comes from harmonious proportions, a ground-hugging stance, taut surfacing and a complete and thorough attention to detail. The DB9 epitomises these qualities; it is beautiful but subtle – not attention seeking.” MotorsportMirroring the DB9’s road-going success, Aston Martin Racing’s DBR9 and DBRS9 endurance racers have proved hugely successful on racetracks around the world. With a total of some 20 DBR9 and 30 DBRS9s built and delivered to customer teams around the world, Aston Martins have consistently scored victories in a host of national and international championships. 24 comments: Aston Martin DB9 Rob_Cortez (419) Posted on 12.15.2011 It looks very decent on its neat body paint! Moreover, I still find it oozing with angst in spite of having only a simple abstract design. It’s a good thing as well that it has a powerful and efficient engine.
SmokingTires (261) Posted on 12.8.2011 Yeah! I have to agree with that. It really looks so admiring on its very neat appearance and exclusivity, but I find out that there are still more powerful convertible vehicles out there like Chevrolet.
Sebastian_Dom (419) Posted on 12.5.2011 This vehicle is truly so admiring and very attractive on its refinement! Well, this one really has a complete package for a luxury sports sedan for it also have an impressive engine.
chester_moore (464) Posted on 04.18.2011 I carefully read and understands its new refinement. I really admired how it perfectly designed for sporting tourer. Just keep on making improvements!
joe_young (339) Posted on 03.12.2011 I’m not impressed with its recent facelift, maybe am just expecting too much. I am not a big fan of its rear, kinda weird and too extreme.
kim_tatel (276) Posted on 10.8.2010 Did you read the article at all or even research a picture of the previous DBS?
nestorhunter (119) Posted on 09.29.2010 What ever gives those idiots the idea that they need to "improve" the most gorgeous cars on the planet?
Mikko_Salvatore (553) Posted on 09.12.2010 This long coupe is one of the most elegant cars that contain the best interiors when you by it even without upgrades.
sammy_james (693) Posted on 09.7.2010 Maybe they don’t want to change it because its a trademark or something like they want it to stay the same as their previous models.
Andress (1243) Posted on 08.31.2010 I’ve been craving a DBS Volante for quite some time, but I’d be willing to settle for a DB9 Volante
rielle_brown (859) Posted on 08.9.2010 I’m trying to decide what’s most egregious here. I think the obvious candidate is the arch over the front wheel. Just because Mercedes has them?
anthonyevers37 (1029) Posted on 08.9.2010 The new mandated side mirrors are much more of an atrocity than the front bumper cover change, or the fact that it has mesh inserts.
Andress (1243) Posted on 08.3.2010 I agree, I liked the previous lower front bumper better. This new one looks like what I would expect to find in a KIA.
sammy_james (693) Posted on 07.27.2010 Martin is making some noise recently introducing newly designed DB9 and now it is the N420 edition of the V8 Vantage. The new V8 Vantage N420 is a special edition.
Andress (1243) Posted on 07.25.2010 This long coupe is one of the most elegant cars that contain the best interiors when you by it even without upgrades.
Jackson_white (614) Posted on 07.14.2010 DB9 is a lot more fun to drive than the Ferrari and Lambo, it’s handling are very superb and responsive enough to deal with hair pin curve.
Ping_Guererro (939) Posted on 07.12.2010 it may not be the fastest and the best, but this is the most fun to drive than the Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Omarion_Steve (767) Posted on 07.11.2010 The DB9 is the quintessential sporting grand tourer and offers an unrivalled combination of driver involvement, character, luxury and refinement,” said Aston Martin CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez.
