  The Audi A3 is a premium compact hatchback from the German automaker and, when it went into production in 1996, featured the same styling as the A4 had at the time. The A3 was powered by a variety of four cylinder power plants with the Euro only 225 HP 1.8T equipped S3 with Quattro all wheel drive as the premier model. This version accelerated from 0 to 60 MPH in 6.6 seconds and reached a top speed of 151 MPH. In 2003, Audi released the second generation A3 for the global market. This four ring hatch is powered by everything from a 1.4 Liter TFSI motor to a 3.2 Liter FSI power plant making 247 HP and 236 lb-ft of torque with the TDI model winning a host of COTY awards. As of 2010, the pricey V6 engine has been dropped and a 2.0L turbo engine producing 200hp has been added. These engine options are mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Audi, the inventor of TDI, blazes a trail in the field of engine manufacture. At the 27th annual Lake Wörther Tour being held at the end of May in the Austrian province of Carinthia, the brand behind the four rings is showcasing this technology’s potential with a sensational study. The two-liter TDI unit under the bonnet of the Audi A3 Audi A3 TDI clubsport quattro delivers 224 hp and musters up 331.90 lb-ft of torque – the sort of pulling power normally associated with a sports car. The show car races from 0 to 62.14 mph in just 6.6 seconds and attains a top speed of 149.13 mph.

The Audi A3 TDI clubsport quattro projects its power with supreme confidence – both acoustically courtesy of its sonorous exhaust and visually with a series of exclusive parts mounted on the body and in the interior. Exterior components such as the large DTM-look rear spoiler and the bolt-on wheel arch extensions give the car a dynamic air, while the racing bucket seats and open gear lever gate in aluminum form the highlights of the interior.

The show car is a true high-tech sports car. The drive power is directed to the 20-inch wheels via a six-speed transmission and the quattro all-wheel-drive system. At the front wheels, stopping power is provided by six-piston brake calipers and ceramic discs. The Audi drive select driving dynamics system allows the driver to vary at will the throttle response characteristic, the exhaust sound, the level of power assistance for the steering, the cut-in thresholds for the ESP stabilization system, as well as the operating mode of the dampers. The dampers deploy Audi magnetic ride technology, enabling them to react to changes in the driving situation with lightning speed.

Although the Audi A3 Cabriolet was launched few months ago H&R unveiled already their product line for the new cabriolet. With H&R sport springs the A3 Convertible got lower with 35 millimieter which improved the aerodynamics without modifying the comfort.

For the customers who want a little more H&R can decrease the distance from ground with almost 45 millimeters but for this stage the comfort of the vehicle was sacrificed. Of course you have to know that all the parts are TUV approved.

TheAudi A3 , offered in the USA exclusively with the five-door body style, raises its sporty profile with a raft of improvements and an accentuated design. Innovative technologies such as the S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi magnetic ride, the suspension control system, makes for even greater driving pleasure.

Its sharper, more striking design lends even greater expression to the A3. Dealer deliveries will coincide with the change of the model year, around September 2008, with pricing and equipment not yet finalized for the USA.

Audi is bringing the five-door A3 onto the U.S. market with two different gasoline engines. The 2.0 TFSI has 200 hp, while the 3.2 quattro with its six cylinders musters 250 hp.

Pricing and equipment will be available in Fall 2008 upon arrival at U.S. dealers.

Audi is bringing the A3 and A3 Sportback onto the market with eight different engines – five gasoline and three diesel versions. Six of them are pioneering four-cylinder direct injection units with turbocharging.

The 1.6 unit develops 102 hp, the 1.4 TFSI 125 hp, the 1.8 TFSI 160 hp and the 2.0 TFSI 200 hp, while the 3.2 quattro with its six cylinders musters 250 hp. The 1.9 TDI delivers 105 hp and the 2.0 TDI 140 hp or 170 hp, depending on specification. Both two-liter diesel engines have been extensively reengineered – a new common rail injection system now assures ultra-refined running.

The 1.6-liter gasoline engine can also be supplied in conjunction with manual transmission for low-cost running on ethanol E 85 fuel. The diesel with an output of 105 hp is the power unit of the extremely efficient 1.9 TDI e version which, thanks to special fine-tuning measures, clocks up 100 kilometers on a mere 4.5 liters of diesel (52.27 mpg).

The dynamic range-topping member of the A3 family sports new features, too. There is now a second top model on the market, with the S3 Sportback joining the three-door Audi S3. Both versions are equipped with the same engine, the reengineered 2.0 TFSI with an output of 265 hp. With 258.15 lb-ft of torque available constantly from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm, the direct-injection, two-liter turbo catapults the three-door model from 0 to 62.14 mph in 5.7 seconds (Sportback: 5.8 seconds); the top speed is limited electronically to 155.34 mph.

Audi will launch the next generation A3 in 2011. Next to the standard version: a notchback and a SUV. The notchback version (premium sedan) will be placed between models like BMW 1-Series and BMW 3-Series.

The future A3 notchback will not be a simple sedan with backpack, but a completely new car: the needed space will be obtained by an additional 14 centimeters to the current A4 length.

As about the SUV version, we are talking about the Q3 of course, it will be based on the Volkswagen Tiguan platform and will debut sometime after the nothcback version.

The ideal antidote to the winter blues, the new Audi A3 Cabriolet, can be administered by Audi Centres from this week as the brand’s first premium compact class ‘open top’ opens for order in standard, Sport and S line trim with OTR prices ranging from £20,750 to £27,060. Deliveries will begin in May.

The majority of the strong and responsive TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines powering the A3 and A3 Sportback are carried over to the new Cabriolet, including the 160PS 1.8 TFSI petrol, the 200PS 2.0 TFSI petrol, the 105PS 1.9 TDI and the 2.0 TDI with common rail piezo fuel injection, developing 140PS. These are combined with either a five or six-speed manual gearbox, depending on version, or the option, for all models bar the 1.9 TDI, of the acclaimed S tronic twin-clutch transmission.

A new aerodynamic body-styling kit for the Audi A3 8L is being put on the market as from today by the tuning specialist RDX Racedesign Automotive, Germany. It brushes up the first-generation A3 with rejuvenating body-styling at the same time giving it a really sporty appearance.

The aerodynamic kit comprises a front bumper spoiler (299.- euros), intended for use with a single-frame grille. It can be combined with the original Audi grille for the A3/8P Sportback as well es with various other single-frame grilles supplied by RDX Racedesign. In addition it can also be used on vehicles with or without headlight washing systems. The final detail, so-to-speak the "crowning" detail, is the chance to have Audi S6 day lights fitted, which can be ordered from Audi dealers.

Optical lowering and more side "muscles" are provided by a side skirt set (129.95 euros), which shows off the sporty air scoops on each side The new appearance is finished off by a new RDX Racedesign rear apron fitted with an attractive design fold for 255.00 euros. The rear part is supplied without openings for the exhaust unit. They can be cut out to size as required.

The kit is available as a set for 615.56 euros. A price advantage of around 70 euros!

Auto Motor Und Sport voted four Audi models as best in their class. The Audi R8 won the title of thw best sports car, the A4 was voted best in the sedan class, the A3 compact model came top of its class for the fourth time and Audi A6 was the winner once again among midsize luxury cars.

"The reader poll is an important indicator for us. And Audi’s success with ams readers shows us that we’ve got the right products,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, upon being presented with the commendation. “At the same time, the great results are an incentive for the entire team."
