Audi A6

  The Audi A6 is a full size executive sedan from the German luxury automaker that was introduced to replace the Audi 100 in 1994 and is currently in its fourth generation. Powered by everything from the tiny 1.8T four cylinder to V8s with Fuel Stratified Injection, the A6 competes head to head with the BMW 5-Series. While an M5 may be in the same league as the S6 powered by a Lamborghini derived 5.2 Liter all aluminum V10 that made 429 HP and 398 lb-ft of torque accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.2 seconds and runs the quarter mile in only 13.5, but BMW has nothing on the 572 HP Biturbo RS6.

Audi released the US price on the 2009 A6 sedan, A6 Avant and S6 sedan, which will go on sale starting January 2009. Pricing are as follow: the Audi A6 3.2 sedan Premium will start at $45,100. The Audi A6 3.0T quattro sedan Premium will start at $50,100. The Audi A6 3.0T quattro Avant Premium will start at $53,310. The Audi A6 4.2 quattro sedan will start at $60,950, and the Audi S6 will start at $75,900.

For 2009 the A6 will be offered in three equipment levels – Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The 3.0 TFSI V6 engine will deliver 300 hp and a powerful 310 lb.-ft of torque. The 3.2 FSI V6 engine, which produces 255 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft of torque, will be available in the Audi A6 Premium and Premium Plus equipment levels. The 3.2 FSI will be paired with front-wheel drive and multitronic transmission. The Audi A6 Audi A6 4.2 comes fully loaded with a 350-hp 4.2 FSI V8 engine, Tiptronic automatic transmission, quattro all-wheel drive, S-line exterior and the Prestige equipment level as standard.

The 2009 Audi S6 features a 5.2 FSI V10 engine mated to the Audi Tiptronic automatic transmission, which kicks up 435 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 398 lb.-ft of torque.

Audi will unveil the RS6 Sedan at the Paris Motor Show in October. Spy photographers from Auto Motor Und Sport caught it while testing!

The RS6 was already unveiled in the Avant version, but the sedan will feature new rear lights. Audi will put in the RS6 Sedan the well-known lights from the A4-Facelift.

Under the hood there will be the same V10 engine with FSI direct injection and twin turbochargers from the RS6 Avant version that will develop 580 hp.


Audi will unveil the facelift version of the Audi A6 Avant this autumn at the Paris Motor Show. There are no big changes regarding the design: a new front end with a single frame grille and a cleaner front bumper next to a squared-out bumper at the rear.

Audi will keep the current engine line-u, but will also add a 290hp supercharged V6.

This will be the final redesigned version until 2011 when Audi will unveil the next-generation A6.


We were reporting yesterday thatAudi will launch 15 new models by 2011 . One of those 15 is the future generation A6 that will be unveiled in 2010. It will come to compete with the next generation BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-class .

The 2010 A6 will feature a multi-material space frame in order to improve handling, economy and emissions in the process. It’s body architecture will be inspired by the new TT. It will be made of aluminum, but there are steel and foam reinforcements where necessary. In addition, Audi is developing lightweight front and rear sub frames which are integral parts of the compact but strong modular nose and tail structures.

The second-generation ASF system will be introduced top-down, starting with the next A6 and A8, along with the new A7. Audi will struggle to use the high-tech solution on its smaller cars, but engineers are examining how alloys can be used on the Mk2 A3 and A1.

The engine line-up will include the following power choices: 2.8 V6 FSI, 190bhp, 2.8 V6 FSI, 224bhp, 3.2 V6 FSI, 265bhp, 4.2 V8 FSI, 350bhp, 5.2 V10 FSI, 420bhp (S6), 5.0 V10 FSI Biturbo, 580bhp (RS7) and two diesel engines: 2.7 V6 TDI, 185bhp and 3.0 V6 TDI, 238bhp.

Auto Motor Und Sport voted four Audi models as best in their class. The Audi R8 won the title of thw best sports car, the A4 was voted best in the sedan class, the A3 compact model came top of its class for the fourth time and Audi A6 was the winner once again among midsize luxury cars.

"The reader poll is an important indicator for us. And Audi’s success with ams readers shows us that we’ve got the right products,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, upon being presented with the commendation. “At the same time, the great results are an incentive for the entire team."

Audi will unveil the next generation A6 as a prototype in 2009 and a production version will follow in 2010. More modern and sporty, the new A6 will use the same design cues as the latest A5 and A4. It will compete with the next generation BMW 5-Series, the Infiniti M and Mercedes E-Class.

Autobild published new renderings of the upcoming A6 facelift. The new A6 will be available starting Summer of 2008 and a RS6 version will be unveiled this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Audi will offer a facelift version of the A6 in the Summer of 2008. The new A6 will have a more modern and sporty design. It will feature for the first time the LED day headlights, which were used only in the S6. Also the interior will feature a significant change. It will have the same bumpers used in the A5, new air intakes and totally redesigned lights.

The readers’ poll of the “AUTO BILD alles allrad” trade journal saw two Audi models beating all the competition to claim the “2007 Four-wheel-drive Car of the Year” title. First place went to the Audi A4 Audi A4 quattro in the “mid-size passenger car” category, while the Audi A6 quattro was voted the best “luxury-class four-wheel-drive passenger car”.
