Closed Course: An Interactive A6 Driving Video
Technology just keeps getting cooler and cooler. The time to sit idly by while videos played out their predetermined route has come and gone. Audi Canada has released an interactive video in which the viewer can decide in which direction their new A6 will go. It’s kind of like those adventure novels where the reader had to choose their path throughout the story, but in this case, the viewer gets to choose their path along a track. Okay, so it’s not as cool as Need for Speed or Forza Motorsport, but it does the trick. Just follow these simple keys and you’ll get to be behind the wheel of the Audi A6.
Audi A6 stars in television drama: Untitled Jersey City Project
Studio Progress Films in association with FX are bringing us the latest in television drama with an entertainment concept called Untitled Jersey City Project. The project is a unique experiment consisting of eight episodes, leading to a larger story of money, fame, power, and death. This isn’t part of the drinking, smooshing, and idiocy craze of Jersey Shore. This story takes place on the Jersey City waterfront where developers are cashing in on the city’s need to expand - and expand quickly - to match the buzzing sounds of Manhattan just across the river. Audi’s role in this budding drama is clear. Whether it’s the hardworking architects trying to build their business, the bare-knuckle negotiator/developer exerting his power, or the up and coming journalist trying to catch her big break, Audi models are the choice for transportation because of their style, comfort, luxury, and sportiness. The star of this trailer is the 2012 Audi A6. With its new aluminum hybrid body and harmonious proportions, the A6 is a new beast in the world of sedans, bringing together luxury and sport in a beautiful Audi package. “Audi is excited to partner with FX Networks on this exciting new short-form original series,” said Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer of Audi of America. “Since our inception, Audi has embraced creativity, innovation and new ways of thinking. What better way to engage with our progressive audience than through forward-thinking entertainment. .” High end drama or pure automotive eye candy; it’s a win/win situation. 2013 Audi A6 Allroad
 
Initially it was believed that Audi will bring the new A6 Allroad Quattro in March at the Geneva Motor Show, but it seems that the company decided to offer us the official details a few months earlier. The model will go on sale in Germany this Spring at a starting price of €54,600 or about $70,000 at the current exchange rates. Compared to a standard A6 Avant the A6 Allroad Quattro is 2.36 inches higher and is distinguished by trim strips on the side sills, more widely flared fenders and a single-frame grille with vertical slats. At the rear the exhaust system ends in two large, flattened tailpipes and the wheel well edges, the bumpers and the sills are painted in a contrasting color. The new A6 Allroad Quattro will be offered with a choice of four engines: one TFSI gasoline engine and three TDI units with power ranging from 204 HP to 313 HP. The three other engines are paired with the seven-speed S tronic and a quattro permanent four-wheel drive system. At the Frankfurt Motor Show last week, Audi managed to overload our senses with the release of their entire new S line-up. Included in this new armada of sporty Audis are the new S6, the S6 Avant, the S7 Sportback, and the S8. As for the new Audi S6 Avant, the changes done on the car’s exterior and interior won’t get you to notice them at first glance. While there are subtle modifications, the most important difference between the new and old model - as well as all of the other new S-line models - is the new powertrain. We’ve said it before with the other cars, but it certainly bears repeating. The new S6 Avant will carry Audi’s new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 406 lb/ft of torque, roughly the same numbers as that of the new S6. The 2012 Audi A6 Avant has received a new tuning kit courtesy of Audi tuner extraordinaire, ABT Sportsline. Aesthetic upgrades are part of the package, but the main ingredient of the whole thing is an extensive performance upgrade that takes the output of the estate car to a whole new level. Among the changes you’ll notice on the exterior include a new front spoiler, new sidebars, a custom rear spoiler, a new rear apron that integrates four exhaust pipes, and a set of 19", 20", and 21" lightweight wheels that comes wrapped with high-speed tires. As for the engine, the 2012 A6 Avant is powered by a number of engine options, including a 3.0-liter TDI engine with a choice output of 204 horsepower and 245 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TFSI engine that produces 300 horsepower. On it’s own, these engines are impressive, right? Not to ABT Sportsline. Using a few engine modifications, the German tuner was able to bump up the output of the two 3.0-liter TDI variants from 204 horsepower to 240 horsepower and 245 horsepower to 300 horsepower. As for the gas-powered 2.0 TFSI engine, the original output of 300 horsepower has been juiced up to a mouth-watering 420 horsepower, improving the car’s 0-62 mph time to just under five seconds. ABT Sportsline’s upgrade on the 2012 A6 Avant has turned an already attractive car into one impressive piece of business. Audi has just revealed the A6 Avant in Berlin. The Avant is the most successful business-class station wagon in Europe and the new model will be offered with a choice of six engines with an 18% fuel consumption, a lightweight body, and many additional innovations. The base version will be offered with a 177 HP 2.0 TDI engine, while the top model gets a 313 HP 3.0 TDI engine. The 2.0L TDI version is the most impressive when it comes to fuel economy with a total of 47 mpg on the highway. Like with all the other models, the A6 Avant will also get a S-Line sports package that will lower the body by 30 millimeters and includes large wheels, appearance modifications, and many special details for the all-black interior. The seventh generation Audi A6 Avant will go on sale on the European markets in late summer 2011 with a base price of 40,850 euros - or about $58,000 at the current exchange rates. Audi’s got a new car in the pipeline but in typical fashion, the company’s going to squeeze out every ounce of curiosity from all of us before unveiling their new ride. The folks from Ingolstadt even released a couple of photos showing off their fleet of new cars with one car intriguingly draped in a white blanket. Apparently, that car is Audi’s answer to the BMW 5-Series, the 2012 Audi A6 sedan. . Not many details have been released for Audi’s refreshed sedan, but a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words and, although these pictures are disguised to say the least, information can still be gathered. UPDATE 03/15/11: Audi has released a new commercial featuring the Audi A6, highlighted by the car’s new aluminum hybrid body. Titled "Manipulation", the commercial asks the question of what we would do if we could mold metal in anyway we saw fit. What would we do with it? Over at Audi, they understand the benefits of the new aluminum hybrid body on the new A6 and as such, wasted no time in promoting the light and sturdy structure that will define the true meaning of ’Audi luxury’. This will be the base version of the model: meaning a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo version with an output of 211-hp and 258 lb-ft. The most impressive model ABT brought to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show was the R8 GT S, but alongside the luscious R8, the German tuner also brought a nifty package for the new generation Audi A6. The modified A6 includes a some exterior updates and some changes under the hood too. The exterior package includes new side skirts, a front spoiler, a rear skirt insert, 4-end pipes, and a new rear spoiler. No changes were made for the interior, but the luxury sedan is luxurious for a reason, so no changes were necessary for the inside of it. For the most powerful engine in the A6 line-up, ABT Sportsline reworked the power from a standard 300 HP to an impressive 410 HP. Thanks to a design that features an elegant yet sporty proportions featuring a long engine hood, a low, sweeping roofline and prominent lines on the flanks that create an overall dynamic appearance, the new Audi A6 was awarded with the 2011 EyesOn Design title at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. It’s the fourth time in the past three years – a remarkable achievement in every sense of the word – that Audi has scooped up an EyesOn Design award for one of their vehicles. For this year, the new A6 was recognized with the “Best Production Vehicle” design displayed at the event, further strengthening Audi’s increasing position as one of the world’s best in automotive design. In accepting the EyesOn Design trophy, Achim Badstuebner, head of exterior design for AUDI AG, was pleased with the reception the A6 received from the panel of judges. “This is strong feedback that we have done our homework," he said. Over the past few years, Audi has scooped up EyesOn Design awards at an impressive rate. Back in 2009, Audi bagged two awards for “Best Production Car Design” with the Audi R8 V10 and “Best Concept Vehicle” for the Audi Sportback Concept, the same concept that later became the inspiration for the A7 Sportback. A year later at the 2010 NAIAs, Audi picked up from where they left off by winning another “Best Production Car Design” title with the Audi A8 luxury sedan. Make that four in three years for Audi with the new A6. From the looks of things, it’s going to take a lot more from its competitors to take the mantle off of Audi in the near future. Next to the standard A6, Audi has also revealed today details on the A6 hybrid, the company’s second hybrid model after the Q5 hybrid quattro. However, the hybrid version will be available at a later date. Its hybrid system combines a 211 HP 2.0 TFSI engine with an electric motor that delivers 45 HP and 211 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a modified 8-speed tiptronic transmission that sends torque to the front wheels. It will deliver an average fuel consumption of only 6.2 liters per 100 km (37.94 US mpg). For the A6 Hybrid the equipment list will include: Audi drive select dynamic handling system, sporty ESP with electronic limited-slip differential on board, adaptive air suspension with controlled damping is available as an option and a dynamic steering will be available soon, also as an option.
