Audi RS5 coming to compete with BMW M3

Audi RS5 coming to compete with BMW M3

The October issue of the Car Magazine will feature a very interesting article of the 2010 Audi RS5, a model that will be a serious competitor to the BMW M3.

The RS5 will be powered by the same twin-turbo V10 engine from the RS6 with output around 580 hp.

The engine will be mated to Audi’s latest 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission (a.k.a. DSG). The new RS cars will also benefit from Audi Drive Select (ADS) - controlling suspension, steering weight and ratio, throttle mapping, and shift points on S-tronic models.

Audi RS4 and RS5 will get V8 engine

Audi RS4 and RS5 will get V8 engine

Fourtitude revealed the first official information about the future RS4 and RS5. It seems the car will feature the same V8 engine. Power will come from a 4.0 TFSI turbocharged engine, same that will be used for the next-generation A8. This means the output will be around 470 hp.

Considering that spy shots of the RS4 have been circulating on the internet for a long time now, we presume the car is about its debut. Unlike the RS5, which there have been no spy images.

Here are a few very nice photoshops of the 2009 RS5 made by Quinty. The RS5 is supposed to be launched this autumn at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Rumors say it will be powered by Lamborghini 5.2 liter V10 engine that produces 500 horsepower in the Gallardo. Audi will fit the RS5 with Quattro all-wheel-drive. The body will take on a much more aggressive look than the S5 along with a sportier interior.

Audi TTRS and RS5 new informations

Audi TTRS and RS5 new informations

About the existence of the TTRS and RS5 coupes we already knew, and now here’s another details about the two new future sports-cars from Audi. The TTRS will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this autumn, while the RS5 will come sometime in 2009.

According to Fourtitude, the TTRS will be powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liters 5-cylinder engine that delivers 350 hp.

About the RS5’s powerplant they only make speculations like everyone else. First choice is a V10 Twin Turbo engine used in the RS6, but they say is an unlikely choice. Second choice is V10 Normally Aspirated, same choice as the Road & Track magazine. Third choice is a 4.2-liter FSI engine that delivers 450 hp and 500 ft-lbs. And finally a V8 Normally Aspirated engine that delivers 420 hp. But which one will actually power the RS5 no one knows at the moment. Only time will tell!
