We are all well aware of the benefits of modifying a used vehicle, for starters they are cheaper than buying a new car to start fiddling around with and even better, the older the vehicle the less likely that there are any warranties to void by swapping in a few high performance parts either. One such example is the first generation Audi RS6, produced between 2002 and 2004, the midsize A6 super car makes use of a 40 Valve 4.2 Liter biturbo V8 making 444 HP and 413 lb-ft of torque straight from the factory driving Audi’s patented Quattro all wheel drive system, and if you can find an example of the more practical avant version, even better.

MFK Autosport has developed a new tuning package that takes the twin turbocharged eight cylinder super sedan and boosts the RS6’s output all the way up to 520 HP without the aid of any wild wings or vinyl decals. MFK focused on retuning the Audi’s engine computer in order to make the most of the factory hardware along with a larger diameter Y pipe and a set of high flow catalytic converters to almost eliminate backpressure and let the turbos spool up as soon as possible. The only additional bling that MFK Autosport saw fit to add to the RS6 are a set of satin black three piece aluminum Schmidt Revolution CC-Line rims measuring 20 inches in diameter to add a bit more aggression to this even faster wagon.

We here at Top Speed love tuned machines, we love them even more when they are racing, but there is a special spot in out hearts for fast wagons. The owner of the BMW M5 must not have known what he was looking at when the Audi RS6 Avant built by tuners MTM rolled up and challenged him to a race. It appears that the BMW is equipped with a Super Sprint exhaust, good for another 40 HP over the 5.0 Liter V10’s 500 HP, but one thing is for certain, an exhaust is no match for a fully built 700+ HP machine.

It is nice to see the return of the sport wagon. This white Audi RS6 built by Berlin based tuners AVUS Performance is a perfect example. As if a 580 HP Biturbo V10 with Quattro isn’t enough AVUS boosts the four ringed estate to 700 HP and restricts the top speed to preserve the tires.

The French enthusiasts at Grip have set up an interesting competition between an MTM modified Audi RS6 Avant and a Ski-Doo snowmobile. The German tuners MTM have boosted the Audi’s 5.0 Liter TFSI 10 cylinder engine from the standard 580 HP to an astonishing 730 HP. The driver is banking on the Quattro all wheel drive system of the MTM RS6 R to get all that power to the snow covered surface. Watch and see how the tuned twin turbo V10 stacks up against the 1200 cc Rotax motor in this downhill battle. The action starts at around 1:00.

VW tuners Sportec have turned their attention to the Audi RS6. Thanks to a reprogrammed computer and some high flowing catalytic converters the turbocharged V10 is now producing 700 HP and able to sprint to 60 MPH (100 km/h) in only 4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 192 MPH (310 km/h).

Finally, the 2009 Audi RS6 was unveiled! Featuring the 5.0 liter V10 engine, the new sports car from Audi promises to be a dreaded rival for its main competitors like Bmw and Mercedes-Benz. Capable to develop an astonishing 580 hp and 480 ft lbs of torque, the engine catapults the car from 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph or, at customer’s request to 174. The new Audi RS6 also has to be comfortable at speed, and to help accomplish this, the front axle features four lightweight aluminum control arms per wheel.

The German manufacturer also installed a new damping technology called Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) which reduces reduces pitch and roll using purely mechanical means. The vehicle features a new ESP system which offers driving fun without compromising safety, but it can also be entirely deactivated for uncompromised fun.

The 2009 Audi RS6 features 19 inch alloy wheels and comes with 390 millimeters brake disks on the front and 365 millimeters on the rear. Also 20 inch wheels are offered as an option as well as a ceramic brake system fitted with 420 millimeters brake disks in the front and 356 millimeters in the rear wheels.

The new model from Audi will be launched in mid-October and will be available for 105,550 euros (about $157,000.)

Audi seems to be an alphabet soup of future coupes. We know there will be a V10 version of the R8, we’re waiting on seeing a concept car for a sedan/coupe A7, and looking for a V12 diesel version of the R8 likely caller the R10.

But those are the known quantities. What Audi is keeping us in limbo about are the smaller coupes. Audi could be working on an R3 as a version of Volkswagen’s new roadster (and a replacement for the TT); there could also be a R4 based on the upcoming smaller Porsche Boxster; or there are also rumors about a R6 to compete with the current Boxster’s size.

If the R4 or the R6 make it to production will probably depend on the wishes of Audi’s new corporate parent Porsche. If Porsche sees an opportunity to build one of both of these cars without cannibalizing from its own sales, then these will likely see the light of day.

O.CT Tuning loves Audi vehicles and in order to demonstrate this unveiled today its customization programme for the R8 and the recently launched RS6 Avant. In the vision of fans the Audi R8 was the perfect car but O.CT thought something else and with the help of a new power exhaust-system the car gained an extra 26 hp which helps it to be with 1,5 seconds quicker, than the standard R8, in the sprint from 0 to 124 mph.

KW suspensions, is known in Germany as the best specialist for performance suspension system but also as the main manufacturer used in the DTM races. KW teamed up with Audi, and its astonishing RS6 Avant Type 4F in order to offer a new suspension system for the 580 hp station wagon.

According to the manufacturer, the KW suspension kit can be used with the factory suspension system but also with Audi’s Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). With the new kit installed, the car is lowered with up to 45 mm, but still this doesn’t only improve the appearance, also the handling capabilities.

Even though many tuners released a sport package for the Audi RS6 Avant, this didn’t stop Sportec in developing its own sport Stage 1 performance kit for the same car. The new package features a reprogrammed ECU which ads 70HP to the car’s 5.0L bi-turbocharged V10 reaching to 650hP at 6,300rpm. With the new kit aboard the RS6 is now capable of reaching 160 mph in under 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph. There is also available a lowering kit and a set of 20 or 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

IMSA, a German tuner specializing in high-end sport cars such as Lamborghini, unveiled today its latest tuning kit for the Audi RS6 Avant. The new program consists in a power boost of 70 hp, a modest one if we think at the 715 hp Audi RS6 Avant by B&B or the 702 hp RS6 Avant by MTM. However, the vehicle can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, that’s 0.1 seconds faster than the Kicherer Mercedes SL63 AMG. The sprint from 0-124 mph is made in 13.8 seconds.

In order to obtain these performance figures the tuner added new high-flow air intakes as well as a new exhaust system. A new suspension system was also added, lowering the car with up to 25 millimeters, providing better stability at high speeds.

A car that goes this fast also has to be able to well. To accomplish this, a new set of brake discs were mounted, measuring 14” in front and 13.8” the back as well as new 20” ultra-light alloy wheels.

The Audi RS6 Avant is becoming a popular customizing car. After ABT, MTM and B&B versions, Kicherer of Germany unveiled today its customization options for the Audi RS6 Avant. Dubbed Audi R-S-Street, the vehicle comes with a power increase from 580 hp to 700 hp. The extra horses make the 0-60 mph sprint is achieved in 4.3 seconds, the 0-124 mph is made in 13 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 173 mph.

In order to deliver better stability the car not only received a new suspension system that lowers the car by 25 millimeters, but also gets a new rear air diffuser. A new exhaust system is used for a better sound of the engine. The body kit of the vehicle includes carbon fiber mirror covers and front lip spoiler. What is really special at this car is the custom body paint and the custom 22 inch wheels which complement the kit.

After ABT unveiled its customized Audi RS6 Avant with 700 hp and 590 ft lbs of torque, its main rival, B&B unveiled its new tuning kit for the German car. The new program from B&B has 4 versions of boost for the V10 TFSI engine, developing 650, 670, 700 and 715 hp. With the 4th level installed, the car can hit 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, with 0.3 seconds faster than the ABT RS6 Avant, and has a top speed of 200 mph.
