Here’s a nice little twist none of us saw coming. Remember when we reported the story about Audi->ke14 bringing the S1 to the Paris Motor Show a couple of weeks ago? Well, it turns out that while they are bringing the car, the car may not be called the S1.

It turns out that Audi just announced a ‘modified’ A1->ke1729 that will come with a dual-charged 1.4 TFSI engine that produces 185 horsepower and 184 lb/ft of torque. Creatively enough, the folks from Ingolstadt have christened this model as the Audi A1 1.4 TFSI.

We’re not entirely sure if this is the same model that the organizers of the Paris Motor Show were talking about, although it does make us wonder if Audi intentionally released this model days ahead of the Paris Motor Show->ke227 while also bringing another version to the event. Maybe it’s their way of diverting attention to the cars they’re bringing to Paris with them.

Continued after the jump.

Specifications

  • Model: 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI
  • [do not use] Vehicle Model: Array

Whatever the case may be, it’s worth pointing out that the A1 1.4 TFSI is an upgraded version of the A1. In addition to its engine specs, the model also comes with a number of features including an ESP stabilization program that boasts of an electronic limited slip differential and improved front brakes to help the system. Other features of the A1 1.4 TFSI includes an S-line exterior package, manual A/C units, an LED interior light package, Ambition equipment line, and 17-inch wheels, among other things.

Similar to the A1, it’s highly unlikely for the A1 1.4 TFSI to find its way in this part of the world, but for the folks over at Europe, the premium hatchback is being targeted for a late 2010 release with a sticker price of €24,250.

We can’t help but be intrigued by this car and wonder whether or not this was the supposed S1 that’s scheduled to appear at the Paris Motor Show. In case it isn’t, then the Paris Motor Show just got a lot more interesting.
