2012 Audi R8 LMS by APR Motosport

A few months ago, Audi announced that the R8 LMS race car was officially coming to America for its inaugural race at Daytona. That was followed by the introduction of the Grand-Am-spec R8 LMS racer that has been tuned specifically to adhere to "stricter" Grand-Am regulations.

Now, we can officially confirm that the first racing team to field the R8 LMS is going to be APR Motorsport, which will use the race cars at the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January of 2012.

The team, which is the race division of APR Tuned, has been known for entering Audi’s in US-based racing series and will continue with that tradition by bringing in the R8 LMS to make its US debut next January.

The R8 LMS was born in 2009 and has evolved to be one of the most powerful and reliable race cars in the world. Tuned to racing specifications to meet Grand-Am regulations, the R8 LMS Grand-Am will receive a number of new equipment, including a thicker roll cage, a new front splitter, rear diffuser and a custom rear spoiler. Similarly, the race car’s 5.2-liter V10 engine has been tuned to produce a ’limited’ output range of 450 horsepower to 470 horsepower.

APR Motorsport has released sketches of their R8 LMS race car, complete with all the graphics and decals that come with it. Hopefully, we’re going to see the car in all its race glory before it jumps into action at Daytona this coming January.

UPDATE 12/28/11: APR Motorsport has finally taken delivery of their Daytona-bound Audi R8 LMS. Check out the fresh batch of photos of the pair of R8 racers in the gallery below!

Nice gallery! This Audi is something that we all want for our garage to have. The tires look so big for the wheels. Anyway, isn’t it too bulky on that front hood?

Audi this a car that can use for racing so many many years audi var had a ugrade to new look as you can see a face of car is very luxuiry and then audi car this a lower car but two or more person have came on.physical car is great with fashion its a clear and nice to develop them.

Wow! Audi R8 gets the best appearance when it comes to designs. It is one of the good looking sports vehicle in this generation. It’s pretty good due to it’s two engine option.

I believe that this Audie is either annoying or impressive. I just can’t explain. It looks good on its aesthetic design yet I found it overly dressed. But I am truly impressed with its V10 engine with an output of 470 horsepower.

This Audi R8 LMS is indeed a beautiful car and the sporty looks of it has added its angst to the people. But i am not really impressed with it. I guess I am not into cars like this.

Wow! I really don’t like the normal R8. Yes I have my reasons. But this looks so good. It looks very futuristic to me. I would defiantly want this car in my garage. What a great idea; showing it off at the Rolex Grand-Am Race. Because this year the Audi R8 is actually racing this year along with Ferrari. Beautiful car

It is one of the good-looking annoying sports vehicles! I just really don’t like the fact that it has a limited engine output. Anyway, I can’t also wait for the official outlook of this Audi R8.

Its graphic pictures seem very interesting. Moreover, V10 engine on it is really so cool, but it is so irritating to know that it has an output limitation, and I wonder why is that happen.

Its initial appearance is really cool, but I still want to see if the official outlook of this Audi R8 is impressive as well. Anyway, it’s so great to know that they use a powerful engine for this race car.

Wow! I love the sporty appearance of this R8, and I would really love to see the final outlook of this sport vehicle. I’m also glad that it had a two engine option! smiley
