Initially it was believed that Audi will bring the new A6 Allroad Quattro in March at the Geneva Motor Show, but it seems that the company decided to offer us the official details a few months earlier. The model will go on sale in Germany this Spring at a starting price of €54,600 or about $70,000 at the current exchange rates.
Compared to a standard A6 Avant the A6 Allroad Quattro is 2.36 inches higher and is distinguished by trim strips on the side sills, more widely flared fenders and a single-frame grille with vertical slats. At the rear the exhaust system ends in two large, flattened tailpipes and the wheel well edges, the bumpers and the sills are painted in a contrasting color.
The new A6 Allroad Quattro will be offered with a choice of four engines: one TFSI gasoline engine and three TDI units with power ranging from 204 HP to 313 HP. The three other engines are paired with the seven-speed S tronic and a quattro permanent four-wheel drive system.

The exterior and the interior
The new A6 Allroad Quattro measures 16.21 ft long, 6.23 ft wide and 4.82 ft) tall - or about a few inches longer than the A6 Avant. The car has been built using a Audi’s ultra lightweight construction principle familiar from the sedan that makes the car about 154 lbs lighter than the previous model.
The model will be distinguished by the other A6 models by progressive LED technology as an option for the headlights and tail lights, trim strips on the side sills, more widely flared fenders and a single-frame grille with vertical slats. The rear of the car is protected by stainless steel covers and will be distinguished by an exhaust system with two large, flattened tailpipes. The roof rails are mounted on double bars and the wheel well edges, the bumpers and the sills are painted in a contrasting color. The A6 Allroad will be offered in an exclusive Java Braun exterior paint.
And while the exterior has been built to challenge any kind of road out there, the interior combines luxury with elegance. It is painted in Santos Brown combined with optional aluminum inlays and as standard equipment Audi is offering the MMI operating system.
Under the hood Audi has placed a choice of four engines: one TFSI gasoline engine and three TDI units. The gasoline engine, a 3.0 TFSI delivers a total of 310 HP and 324.53 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates the A6 allroad quattro from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph. All this while delivering a fuel economy of 26.43 US mpg.
The 3.0 TDI engine is offered in three versions: a 204 HP, a 245 HP and a 313 hp. The top version will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5,6 seconds and up to a top speed of 155.34 mph.
The three engines will be combined with a seven-speed S tronic sporty dual-clutch transmission and a quattro permanent four-wheel drive system paired with torque vectoring.
The model will be offered with radar-based adaptive cruise control with stop & go function that keeps the new A6 allroad quattro at the proper distance from the car ahead.

There are lots of competitors out there for the new Audi A6 Allroad Quattro, but we will keep our attention to the Subaru Outback and Cadillac SRX. The Outback is offered with a choice of 170 hp 2.5-liter boxer four or the 256 hp 3.6-liter boxer six cylinder engine. The SRX will be offered with a choice of two six cylinder power plants, delivering either 265 HP or 300 HP.
