At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Audi->ke14 will be bringing along a special edition SQ5 TDI model called the Executive Concept.

To be fair, we're looking forward to seeing this car on the showroom floor for a number of reasons including a unique body color that we haven't seen before from an Audi. The concept also promises a luxurious interior befitting its "Exclusive Concept" designation.

Other than that, there's not a whole lot to be excited about when it comes to the SQ TDI Exclusive Concept. (Wait until you hear how much it's going to cost).

In any case, the car is scheduled to make an appearance in Paris, which, in itself, is worthy of coverage. It won't be the sexiest or the most eye-popping of the cars headed to France, but we're still interested to see if Audi can change our minds on our initial underwhelming opinion of this production-ready, limited-run concept.

Exterior

Not much in the way of exterior upgrades on this one with the only notable exception being its Aral Blue crystal effect finish, which is the only model in Audi's line-up that carries the color.

Interior

Inside the SQ5 TDI Exclusive Concept is where it makes its name. For starters, the black sport seats have been dressed in Fine Nappa leather, a material that you can also find on the gear lever gaiter, the center armrest, and the dashboard cover. The leather is then accentuated by a snow white contrast stitching, which is also visible on the sport seats. Likewise, black and woven leather have been used on the center section of the seats, the first of its kind to be used on a production vehicle. At least that's what Audi claims.

The interior also comes with Alcantara headlining, which, together with the blind for the enormous front-to-rear sunroof and the inlays and applications in the doors are all in snow white whereas the inlays are in natural grain ash. Audi exclusive badges are also visible throughout the interior, particularly on the door trims and the entry sills.

Performance

Oddly enough, the SQ5 TDI Exclusive Concept carries the same 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 diesel engine that produces 308 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque as the standard SQ5 TDI model. Why do we find this weird? It's because...

Pricing

...the SQ5 TDI Exclusive Concept carries a price tag of €92,000, which is just about $120,000 based on current exchange rates. That price is almost twice as much as the price - €58,500, about $75,000 - of the regular model. Sales will begin early next year with Audi producing only 50 units of this model.

Competition

Quite frankly, aside from the lavish interior, we don't know what's so special about the SQ5 TDI Exclusive Concept. So instead of comparing it to a competing brand, we'll take a different route and compare it to the standard model.

Take out the interior and you're left with a unique Aral Blue crystal finish as the only distinguishing characteristic of the SQ5 TDI Exclusive Concept. Besides, even with all the Alcantara, Fine Nappa, and snow white stitching, we can't justify that price tag.
