2013 Audi TT RS by ABT Sportsline

Posted on by

When Audi announced that it would offer the TT RS to the North American market, we were stoked about it. Though the TT RS is mighty impressive, we were a little bit disappointed that this awesome sports coupe only delivered 360 horsepower. Lucky for us, ABT Sportsline seems to agree with us that the TT RS can much better.

To help satisfy our power hunger, ABT Sportsline developed an upgrade kit for both the TT RS and the TT RS Plus models that pushes it to extreme levels. The tuner installed a self-developed ABT air-to-air intercooler and an ABT turbocharger.

The end result is an increase in output up to a total of 470 horsepower and 464 pound-feet – up from 343 pound-feet in the stock model. With the extra power under the hood, the ABT TT RS sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 177 mph – this equals a 0.2-second faster 0-to-60 mph time and a 3 mph increase in top speed.

As with any other upgrade kit offered by the ABT Sportsline, the TT RS was equipped with an attractive rear spoiler that completely transforms the look of the TT. There is also a set of ABT suspension springs that lower the car’s center of gravity by 1.18 inches.

ABT offered up something for you exhaust-note lovers too, as the tuner installed a stainless-steel exhaust system with middle and rear silencers.

As always, ABT offers a wide choice of wheels. You can choose between 19- or 20-inch rollers in multiple designs. No matter the choice you make, you will also get an ABT sport brake system to help keep all of that extra power in check.

Press Release

The Audi TT is a real work of art when it comes to its design. The car combines elegance, dynamism and compact dimensions to the best effect. “That’s how a car should look like,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt, the CEO of the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, who has a predilection for the TT: “For us, both the coupé and the roadster are an ideal basis to work with. After all, you can tell that it wants to perform by simply looking at a TT“, Abt adds. The traditional Bavarian company has therefore done something with all RS versions – and with up to 470 hp (346 kW) provides pure ABT POWER S. The Audi TT RS thus doesn’t only look like a super sports car, it actually is one, too. Or, to put it more succinctly: The ABT TT RS is a big automotive dream car of only 4.2m in length...

What the ABT Sportsline engineers have done is really breathtaking. An optimised engine management and the use of a self-developed ABT air-to-air intercooler and an
ABT turbocharger turn a solid 340 hp (250 kW) into up to 470 hp (346 kW). Torque is increased from 450 to a gigantic 630 Nm. The ABT TT RS is very powerful in all speed ranges. The chic sports car only needs 3.9 seconds to get from 0 to 100 kph. Its top speed is 285 kph. To put this ABT POWER on the road in the right design, a visually attractive rear spoiler for both the coupé and roadster has been developed which harmonises with the TT’s dynamic silhouette and underscores its superiority. And thanks to the ABT suspension springs the car’s CoG is lowered by another 30mm. An optimised carbon footprint and better sound is seen to by the ABT stainless steel exhaust system (middle and rear silencer). The ABT sport brake system will remain cool even in critical situations.

We also recommend the CR, DR and ER sport-type wheels in 19 or 20 inches to go with the TT. It’s up to you which wheel you choose, of course, but the wheels were consistently weight-reduced and optimised. The unsprung masses were kept as small as possible, which improves the car’s road and damping behaviour a lot. The ABT wheel highlight is certainly the new high-performance wheel ER with its ten spokes and a dynamic bent. For the TT RS, the wheel is available as a cast version, ER-C, and as an extravagant, forged version, ER-F. It goes without saying that all wheels can be bought in combination with high-performance tires. After all, “Really Sporty” starts with those.
