The Audi A8->ke1089 may be a luxury car->ke505 by appearance, but it has a lot more to offer than just its good looks. Any aftermarket company that has built tuning programs for the A8 will attest to this, none more profoundly than Senner Tuning. The German aftermarket company has built programs for a wide range of Audi->ke14 models. This time around, it has set its sights on the four rings’ flagship luxury sedan.

Admittedly, the program lacks the visual appeal that Senner Tuning’s other Audi programs have had. But that isn’t a reason to gripe. This kit is all about polishing the luxury sedan’s->ke142 performance credentials, which has plenty of room for improvement. That’s what Senner Tuning zeroed in on, and the results are pretty impressive.

To be fair, the program does have some visual upgrades if you can even describe an LED number plate lighting as a “visual upgrade." But for the most part, Senner Tuning decided to focus on the A8’s engine and in doing so, gave it enough of an upgrade to be more formidable on the road. The A8 is more than just class and luxury, folks. Look no further than this program Senner Tuning developed for the A8 as proof of that.

The entire program costs around €9,500, including VAT. Based on the exchange rate on 9/18/2014, that price translates to about $12,250.

Senner Tuning’s work on the A8’s 4.2-liter, V-8 engine involved finding the right mix of performance optimization without compromising the luxury sedan. In order to accomplish that, the German tuner worked on the tweaking the A8’s ECU, as well as adding a power converter and two new sports air filters. After all that work, output from the V-8 improved from 321 horsepower and 328 pound-feet of torque to an impressive 397 horsepower and 351 pound-feet of torque. Despite the power increase, Senner Tuning was also able to cut fuel consumption by 1.5 to 2.0 liters per 100 km. That’s what I like to call hitting two birds with one stone.

You're probably wondering what's so neat about the A8's rear section. Well, if you haven't noticed, Senner Tuning installed its stainless-steel exhaust system that has a pre-silencer with 100-mm (3.9-inch) end pipes. This allows the car's improved power to coarse through its new system smoothly and without any hitches, all while producing that glorious V-8 sound we've all come to love. These are the types of modifications that won't grab headlines, but that doesn't mean they're any less effective.

Senner also replaced the Audi A8's old wheels with a massive set of 22-inch Oxigin14 Oxrock wheels finished in Black Full Polish and wrapped in Continental Sport Contact 3 tires.

A new lowering module from the folks at KW also makes its way onto the A8, giving drivers the ability to adjust the sedan's suspension manually through an iPhone app.
