Last year, Audi unveiled the Q1 Quattro, but that model was never offered in the U.S. market and it was limited to only 333 units. Needless to say, not many people had the chance to enjoy it. Now Audi is developing a new pocket-rocket version of the A1 super-mini and we have the first spy shots of the next S1 Sportback.
The future Audi S1 will feature the usual quad-exit exhaust pipes, but will come with a milder and less-extreme body kit to fulfill the demands of its customers. Under the hood, Audi will place an updated version of the current 2.0-liter TFSI engine that will deliver about 220 to 240 horsepower. The power will be sent to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system.
The model is expected to be unveiled in 2013 and will be offered in both 3-door hatch and 5-door Sportback versions.
