The third-generation Audi A8->ke1089 was officially unveiled back in 2009, but, just like any other model in the company's lineup, the luxury sedan is also going to receive a small revision. Our spy photographers have caught the model testing for the first time somewhere in Germany.

Audi->ke14 tried to hide the updates under some heavy camouflage, but even so, we already know what to expect when the revised A8 arrives on the market. Updates will be nearly identical to what we have seen on all the other updated Audi models.

The revised A8 is going to receive small changes to the front bumper, a new grille and new headlights. For the rear, the revised A8 will feature new lights and an updated bumper. The interior is also going to receive some small updates, plus an updated infotainment system.

Expect the revised Audi A8 to be unveiled later in the year, most likely at a major show like the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Spy shots

Even though it is not visible in these spy shots, it is pretty clear that the revised A8 is going to receive the same "wave-like" LED headlamps just like we have seen in all the other revised models. There is also going to be a modified front grille and a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes.

For the rear Audi will offer a new bumper and new taillights with the same "wave-like" LEDs.

Competition

BMW 7-Series

BMW was one step ahead Audi, and its 7-Series luxury sedan has already received a revision for the 2013MY. The model received updates to both the exterior and the interior, but just like with the A8, they were minimal and included new full-LED headlights, a prominent BMW kidney grille and a modified front apron.

The engine lineup remains unchanged, so the most powerful version is still the 760i with its 6.0-liter V-12 engine with an output of 544 horsepower.

Mercedes S-Class

Unlike the other two German makers, which decided to offer only small revision, Mercedes believes it’s time for the S-Class to enter a completely new generation. It should be ready for the 2014MY and will offer a new exterior design language, plus a revised engine lineup.
