Audi has finally pulled the covers off of the new Audi A3 Sedan and with it, the German automaker also introduced its S-variant, the equally new S3 Sedan . Oh joy.

Scheduled to meet the world at the New York Auto Show , the new S3 is already getting quite the attention from a lot of people in large part because Audi hasn’t had a small sports sedan in its line-up in a long time.

So you can say that the new S3 has a lot of expectations attached to it, in large part because you can never have enough people clamoring for a German sports sedan that they can actually afford.

Mercedes went ahead and revealed the CLA-Class earlier this year, so it was only the right time for Audi to join the German sports sedan party in America. There’s a sentence we never thought we’d write.

If you’ve been waiting for this day to come, well, wait no longer because details of the new Audi S3 Sedan can be found after the jump.

Updated 06/19/2014: Audi announced today prices for the 2015 S3 sedan set to go on sale late summer of this year. Prices will start from $41,100.

Audi is pioneering a new method of vehicle repair and service with the ART Robot, a human-sized device that allows local Audi technicians to directly communicate with Audi of America engineers located back at HQ — in real time, just as if the two were standing side by side.

The new robot, whose full name is Audi Robotic Telepresence, is capable of moving around a vehicle and inspecting items with a borescope and hand-held camera system. A video monitor allows both people to see each other and the issues related to the vehicle repair.

The ART Robot is designed to give local technicians technical support with difficult repairs or unusual problems that may occur. Audi is initially rolling out 100 of the ART Robots at dealerships across the U.S. in hopes of streamlining the repair process and cutting service times for intricate repairs.

Audi ’s brand-new electric turbodiesel engine, which was showcased in the RS5 TDI Concept last month, is set to become more than just an experiment. That’s the word from Australian outlet Drive, which claims the drivetrain will hit the streets in the next-generation Q7 SUV . Needless to say, we are not surprised.

The said oil burner displaces 3.0 liters and features an all-new e-boost unit that provides maximum torque from just 1,250 rpm, until the regular turbo kicks in at 3,000 rpm. This technology eliminates turbo lag, and enables the diesel to perform better and respond quicker when the gas pedal hits the floor.

The concept version of the engine mounted in the RS5 TDI delivers 385 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to push the coupe from naught to 62 mph in only four seconds and label it as the fastest six-cylinder diesel vehicle ever developed within the Volkswagen Group . We expect these numbers to change once the production engine finds its way into the Q7’s bay, but the SUV should be quite the performer.

Audi ’s recent focus on compelling design and high-quality interiors has proven to be a smart move, allowing it to carve out its own niche in the luxury market and become a true competitor to BMW and Mercedes-Benz . Journalists love the company’s extreme, go-fast models and they help improve Audi’s image, but the real money comes from its mainstream sedans and crossover SUVs. While Audi has plenty of the former, ranging from the A3 all the way up to the A8, the latter is limited to just the Q5 , Q3 and Q7 .In 2016, however, Audi is set to release the Q1, a crossover SUV that will slot underneath the Q3, making it the smallest crossover SUV on sale.

While tiny crossover SUVs aren’t particularly exciting to anyone other than accountants and car salesmen, Audi appears to be planning something more exciting that just the plain, vanilla Q1. If reports are true, the Q1 will receive the full RS treatment in the form of the Q1 RS a year after the base model hits showrooms.

When it comes to press cars and review cars, there are few machines I know more intimately than the 2014 Audi A6 TDI . Last year I joined a collection of fellow lunatics and set out on a 48-hour cannonball run from LA to New York City to test out Audi’s new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine, and really test its real-world fuel economy. After 46 hours and nearly 3,000 miles, I had spent several hours in every seat, tried to eat, sleep, and work inside of its wood-filled interior, and used almost every gadget it contained to keep myself entertained.

I have made lots of big road trips in lots of cars including the Nissan GT-R and Porsche Cayman S , but this was a whole new experience.

After such an experience, I have lots of things to say about Audi’s full-size luxury sedan . From equipment and pricing to performance and fuel economy, the Audi made major impressions. But where all those impressions good, would I do the trip again, and do I think it’s a car worth spending money on?

Audi prevailed at Le Mans once again this weekend, after a tough race against its main LMP1 class competitors — event returnee Porsche , and polesitter and favorite Toyota . Audi took the checkered flag in first and second, with the No. 2 car driven by Fassler, Lotterer and Treluyer having completed 379 laps. This is Audi’s 13th success in Le Mans history, all of which were obtained the past 15 years.

The winning crew took the lead for the first time Sunday morning, shorty after 5 a.m. The No. 2 R18 e-tron quattro had been chasing the leading Toyota TS040 Hybrid throughout the night, with Porsche charging in for some captivating duels. The three-way fight went on to provide one of the most fascinating races in recent Le Mans history until the 22nd hour, when technical difficulties forced Mark Webber ’s Porsche 919 Hybrid to spend nearly an hour and a half in the pits.

British design house Kahn Design may be known for its Land Rover -based projects, but its offerings aren’t limited to beefed-up Range Rover Sport and Evoque SUVs . In recent years, the Brits set their sight on a number of Audi and Porsche models as well, including the Q3 , the Q5 and the mighty Cayenne .

You probably remember 2015 Q5 Wide Track , a crossover that gained a more appealing body kit and a wider track for enhanced stability. What it didn’t get, however, was a more capable powertrain, being stuck with the same 2.0-liter TDI engine it came with from the factory. That’s actually a tradition for Kahn Design, who focuses on visual upgrades rather than power bumps.

Same goes for the recently unveiled Q5 2.0 TDI quattro S-Tronic Wide Track. Wait, what? Is this a re-release? No, it is not! It’s a totally different approach that replaces the elegance seen on the previous model with a menacing new look by means of a triple-black coating and a number of new styling elements.

This just in from the Le Mans track: one of the three Audi R18 e-tron quattro race cars race cars set to start in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans event got blown to smithereens in a crash that occurred during practice.

The No. 1 R18 e-tron quattro had Loic Duval at its helm when it went airborne and slammed into a concrete wall with its rear end, Jalopnik reports. Although the hybrid vehicle sustained massive damage, Duval is conscious and talking, with no signs of severe injuries.

The Frenchman is, however, under intense medical observation in a nearby hospital. Judging by the way the car looks after the massive crash, Loic is one lucky fellow, but we have a hunch FIA’s demanding safety regulations and Audi ’s adherence to them when designing the R18 played a key role in avoiding a tragedy.

Getting back to the wreckage, the footage reveals that likely nothing can be salvaged from the No. 1 car. Losing the chassis is terrible news for Audi, which now has to decide whether to bring a replacement unit and face a penalty or use only two cars in the big race.

The No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro is supposed to lap the Circuit de la Sarthe with Loic Duval, Lucas di Grassi and Tom Kristinsen behind the wheel. The remaining cars will be driven by Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer, Filipe Albuqurque, Marco Bonanomi and Oliver Jarvis.

Audi Sport has dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in recent years. The team is vying for its fifth-straight title and its seventh in eight years. But even with this string of recent dominance, Audi still isn’t the most-awarded automaker to compete in the famed endurance race. Porsche has that distinction, and after 15 years of skipping Le Mans, the German automaker is making a comeback in 2014.

Porsche will certainly have its hands full. It’s going to deal with a plethora of competitive vehicles, not the least of which is Audi Sport.

Ahead of the start of the 2014 Le Mans, Audi Sport released a video directed at Porsche. The team didn’t outwardly call out Porsche for returning to Le Mans. Instead, it used the new video to officially welcome back its Le Mans rival, doing it in typical Audi burnout fashion.

Having Porsche and Audi competing in Le Mans is great for the race. Here you have the old guard going up against the new king. It’s a fitting spectacle ahead and during the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday, June 14.

Time for some juicy prototype supercar footage and speculation. The cool kids at TouriClips have scored some new film of the new Audi R8 blasting around the Nurburgring . Based on the sound of the engine, this appears to be a V-10-powered car. There are some weird things happening though. At certain points, there appears to be what sounds like the whistle of a turbocharger.

This is crazy for many reasons, not the least of which is the idea of a turbocharged V10 production car. For starters, the Lamborghini Huracan uses a sister engine, and I don’t see the Volkswagen bosses letting the Audi outpace the Lamborghini .

Otherwise, the video is full of what we traditionally expect. Plenty of speed, hard cornering and engine noise. Take a look at the video and keep your ears open.
