The Bentley Brooklands is a $150,000 full size luxury sedan introduced in 1992 as a replacement for the Bentley Mulsanne and Bentley Eight models. It served as a more affordable alternative to the Bentley Turbo R and was powered by a Rolls Royce 6.75 Liter V8 making 300 HP. The model was later replaced by the Bentley Arnage in 1998. Bentley decided to revive the model in 2008 and it now features the Azure's 6.8L twin turbo V8. The engine now produces 530hp and 774lb-ft of torque. Getting from 0-60mph is done in just 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 184mph.
Bentley Brooklands was unveiled last year at the Geneva Auto Show and it was a big success ever since. The luxury Coupe is now also available on the US market. First model has been purchased for $450,000 at a charity auction held during the 2008 Naples Winter Wine Festival.
The Brooklands is the coupe version of the Arnage sedan and the Azure convertible. Larger than a Continental GT, the Brooklands was designed to blend great performance and unbridled opulence and is created for an exclusive clientele. The Brooklands takes its design cues from the GT, one of the most successful cars for Bentley since its unveiling in 2004. The luxury Coupe is powered by a Crewe-built V8 engine that delivers 530 hp and a peak torque of 774 lbs-ft.
Sales on the US market will begin in the second quarter this year.
