Bentley Continental Flying Spur

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Flying Spur Speed is a full size luxury four door sedan from the English automaker. Both models are powered by a 6.0L twin turbocharged W12 that is mated to a six-speed automatic, but the Flying Spur only gets 552hp and 479lb-ft of torque while the Flying Spur Speed gets 600 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque. These numbers help the Bentley accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.8 seconds and reach a 200 MPH top speed making it the world's fastest four door saloon.

Bentley , in collaboration with British design company, Linley, has announced a special edition Continental Flying Spur limited to only 10 units. The model will be sold in China where large four-door models are the most successful.

The special edition Continental Flying Spur Linley features a special rose-wood applied to the fascia, center console, waistrail, and roof console. The veneers cover the entire wood surfaces of the model, where Bentley chestnut or walnut would normally be used.

A unique Linley Helix motif has been taken from the distinctive Linley Helix Furniture Collection and is being used on the waist-rails and picnic table of the Flying Spurs. The Helix pattern is made up of four different types of veneer which contrast with the Santos rosewood to show the wave effect delivered by the marquetry. In addition, the rear console is being modified for a customer-commissioned Linley humidor.

Brett Boydell, senior designer at Bentley, says: "A special box has been designed by Linley which drops into a unique console. We have reconfigured the console so that the box can fit in, moving things around and creating a space. It was an engineering feat to meet the quality requirements of a Bentley and the design cues of Linley."

Remember theContinental Series 51 ? Well Bentley figured that they shouldn’t waste a perfectly good tuning kit on one vehicle so they have applied the same treatment for the 2012 Continental Flying Spur. The company is offering its clients the opportunity to choose from a range of 14 Series 51 designs, that include different color and trim combinations.

For the Series 51 model, there is a main interior color (typically a darker shade)with a second insert color that provides an eye-catching contrast. A very special choice is the limited-edition Sapelli Pomelle veneer (which provides a rare, naturally occurring quilted effect in the wood) for the Series 51 Flying Spur and a range of further options, including Bentley’s leather trimmed child seat and scatter cushions for the rear seats.

The Flying Spur Series 51 models will be distinguished by a unique Series 51 graphite-finished nine-spoke, 19-inch sports alloy wheel, while twin Series 51 wing badges, positioned behind the front wheel arches. Another special feature is the new 30GB touchscreen infotainment system, seamlessly integrated into their handcrafted cabins.

Oh, those rock stars. They think they can get away with just about anything and expect no repercussions for their actions. Running rebels, are ya?

Well, one company isn’t letting the name of one iconic rock and roller from filing a lawsuit against the aforementioned star and now resident douche.

Bentley isn’t at all happy with Guns N’ Roses leadman, Axl Rose, for his direct involvement in turning a leased Continental Flying Spur from an exquisite luxury car to a destroyed heap on four wheels. Bentley Financials filed the suit seeking for payment to the damages done to the car that included, among other things, a cracked windshield, scratched wheels and trims, dented doors, gouged bumper cover, and even a missing remote key. And that’s not even getting into the part where he exceeded the car’s mileage limit by 42,000 miles.

As a result of the trashing, Bentley is requiring Mr. Guns N’ Roses to fork over $74,000 for all the damage he did to the car.

It’s one thing to go bonkers and trash a hotel room with your groupies, but for the love of God, you never, ever, destroy a car as awesome as a Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Shame on you, Axl Rose.

Now that the Middle East represents 10% of Bentley sales worldwide, the company has decided to throw them a little treat for their loyalty to the brand. Bentley has unveiled two special edition Continental models, designed exclusively for the Middle East market. Both models are powered by a 6.0 liter W12 engine, but while the Flying Spur Arabia can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of 193 mph, the Flying Spur Speed Arabia delivers a total of 600 HP and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, while top speed goes up to 200 mph.

The Continental Flying Spur Arabia gets an elegant set of 14-spoke diamond alloy wheels, while the Flying Spur Speed Arabia gets sporty, bright silver, 10-spoke, 20-inch wheels and optional carbon ceramic brakes.

Nature keeps itself in balance. There’s a reason elephants aren’t fast and chetahs aren’t big. But man can sometimes do something completely unnatural and make something great. For example the Bentley Continental GT Speed and Flying Spur Speed are large luxury vehicles that can top 200 mph.

Then again Renntech’s president Hartmut Feyhl is a man, too. His company decided that Bentley did not go far enough with the Continental pair. He’s changed the ECU software to increase horsepower from 602 to an even 640. The cost? Well you’re a Bentley owner, so the cost doesn’t matter (but if you slip Mr. Feyhl $5,800 his people will probably get to work on your car.)

Just make sure you can handle all the power in this 2300 lbs car. You don’t want to skid off the road and anger Mother Nature.

Bentley today unveiled the 2009 Continental Flying Spur and the new version Spur Speed. The new model is set to deliver even greater levels of refinement, comfort and opportunities for customer personalization.

Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Continental Flying Spur Speed

The Continental Flying Spur is powered by the new Bentley’s 6-litre, twin turbocharged W12 engine, the most compact 12-cylinder engine in production. The 48-valve head employs four camshafts and continually variable valve timing. Power is transmitted via an uprated ZF six-speed automatic transmission.

The W12 engine continues to produce 552bhp at 6100 rev/min and a maximum torque of 479lb ft from 1600 rev/min across virtually the entire rev range.

Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Continental Flying Spur Speed

The Speed engine develops 15 percent more torque and nine percent more power than the standard Flying Spur, while engine efficiency is optimised by the use of lower friction, lighter-weight components and a new engine management system. The resultant performance is exceptional, with a top speed of 200mph (322km/h), a zero to 60mph sprint time of just 4.5 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.8s) and effortless overtaking capability.
