Bentley unveiled the facelift version of the Continental GT towards the end of 2010, so the next logical step was to refresh their Continental GTC as well. The Speed model is still based on the original Continental GT that was launched in 2003, but has been given updates to make it look fresh and new. And now, leading up to the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley has officially unveiled the 2012 Continental GTC. Just like all of the spy photos we’ve seen of the car, the new Continental GTC comes with an aggressive front fascia, a vented hood, and new headlights. The back of the Bentley also got tweaked with the addition of a trunk-mounted spoiler, slimmer taillights, and a revised exhaust system. The luxury sportster also benefits from an increase in output from its 6.0-liter W12 engine, a fact that should make fans of the model smile from ear to ear. UPDATE 11/16/2011: The new Bentley Continental GTC made its North American debut today at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. During the show, Bentley announced that the model will go on sale in late 2011 at a price of $212,800. Find out more about the 2012 Bentley Continental GTC after the jump. ExteriorThe design of the 2012 Bentley Continental GTC lends itself to certain styling cues from the GT coupe version that was launched last year. The more sculpted body and sharp power lines of the model come as a result of advanced production techniques, such as aluminum Super Forming. The sporty and luxurious tone of the car is highlighted by unique jeweled headlamps with LED daytime running lights, as well as the more upright matrix radiator grille and the new ’double horseshow’ rear profile that Bentley first unveiled on their luxury flagship sedan, the Mulsanne. Another first for the Continental GTC is the set of 20" wheels with a pair of 21" variants serving as added options to further encompass the sporting stance of the luxury convertible. With these changes, Bentley’s uncompromising focus on quality is no more evident than in the clean and high-end design of the Continental GTC. InteriorAs for the interior, Bentley offers a more spacious and luxurious hand-crafted cabin with soft-touch leather hides while also providing an extensive range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals, and deep-pile carpets. 17 standard soft-touch leather hide colors with six color split combinations are available and complemented by a range of seven veneers, all of which come courtesy of Bentley’s renowned group of talented craftsmen and women. The seats of the vehicle carry a distinctive ’cobra style’ to provide posh comfort and aid in enhancing rear cabin space. There’s also a new touchscreen, 30GB infotainment system that introduces advanced satellite navigation with dynamic route guidance, seven-digit postcode entry, and Google Map compatibility. The audio system features the latest wide-frequency Balance Mode Radiator speakers. PerformanceThe 2012 Bentley Continental GTC will be powered by a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine mated to the company’s new QuickShift transmission, allowing for faster gear changes than ever before, cutting shift changes by over 50%. The resulting output of the Continental GTC nets 575 horsepower and 516 lb/ft of torque. All this allows the car to hit 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 10.9 seconds, and a top speed of 195 mph. PricingDuring the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, Bentley announced that the model will go on sale in late 2011 at a price of $212,800. CompetitionSpeak of Bentley and invariably, comparison conversations almost always lead to Rolls-Royce. In this particular case, the sporty nature of the Continental GTC doesn’t have a Rolls-Royce equivalent, thanks to the latter’s proclivity to the best of what luxury craftsmanship has to offer. One of the most plausible comps for the Bentley Continental GTC is the Aston Martin DBS Volante. Make no mistake, Aston Martin is one of the most desirable automotive brands in the world today, but it still has a ways to go before it can reach the esteemed level of Bentley. However, with cars like the DBS Volante, you can make a case that it’s getting there. The DBS Volante comes with a 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 510 horsepower and 420 lb/ft of torque, good enough for a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 191 mph. These numbers are almost identical to that of the Continental GTC so it’s really a wash when it comes to performance. It’s unfortunate that the Continental GTC still doesn’t have a price tag attached to it, but if it’s anywhere close to the $286,000 sticker of the DBS Volante, then we’d take the former in a heartbeat, with all due respect to the latter. The epitome of sports luxury More powerful engine Eye-sparkling design No price yet It won’t come cheap Competition might have a lot to say 37 comments: Bentley Continental GTC The figure performance of this GTC is really quite impressive for this kind of car, and for the fact that this one is a sports car, I didn’t expect it to be such a luxurious and classy one.
The Continental GT is the most famous production car of Bentley. I think it is the main reason, why Bentley still continues building other versions of this. The most promising upgrade is with the engine, the 6.0 liter W12 engine, which is very powerful.
I’m so fascinated with the dressed-up interior of this Continental GTC! It looks very cozy and entertaining on that. Moreover, it’s really a good thing that it has a very efficient and impressive engine.
Impressive enough! It looks very sporty for me, and I noticed that the front design or styling is so cool and aggressive even the interior seems so cozy and relaxing.
Well, expect it, guys that it will be too pricey when they already put this one on market production, but they are right that even if it’s only the facelift of their previous model. It will still stand out.
I simply love this continental GTC for having an aesthetic platform and styling but this convertible car is oozing with car appeal. The interior touch seems very cozy and relaxing.
For sure, Bentley has released a facelift version to grant the wishes of some loyal fans of the continental GT. It has a powerful engine, and it has a fine styling as well.
Bentley has a luxurious and classy look which I found very appealing. I’m also impressed with the spacious interior and handcrafted cabin of it. It seems so soft! Well, I bet that this one will surely be too expensive.
Continental is really looking so awesome with its luxury appearance and with its cozy interior. Well, I can’t wait for its debut! I’m sure every car lover would truly love to have this.
