After releasing a video showing off the sound of Bentley’s new V8 engine, the company has officially announced details on the new Continental GT V8 before its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 9, 2012. The new 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 engine will be offered for both the CT coupe and GTC convertible models and will go on sale in the summer of 2012.

The new V8 engine delivers 500 HP at 6000 rpm and 487 lb-ft of torque available between 1700 to 5000 rpm. The models equipped with this new engine will be offered with a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission and will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, while top speed will go up to 180 mph. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions have been improved significantly, but official figures will be released in early 2012. Bentley has promised that when equipped with the new V8 engine, the Continental models will be capable of traveling over 500 miles (800km) on a single tank of fuel.

"With the new 4.0 liter V8 engine we are widening the appeal of the latest generation of Continentals, introducing a completely new driving experience. The major addition to the new Continental GT V8 will obviously be the new engine, Bentley has also done some work on the aesthetics of the vehicle. Both the Continental GT and GTC will be distinguished by a black gloss matrix grille with chrome frame and center bar, a red enamel Bentley "B" badge, and a black matrix three-segment lower front bumper divided by distinctive body-colored strakes, as well as the option of three different hood colors. At the rear, the vehicles will get unique chromed "figure eight’ exhaust tailpipes, a dark lower valance, and red enamel "B" bootlid badge. Both models will also be offered with standard 20-inch alloy wheels or an optional 21-inch six-spoke design which is available in dramatic Diamond Black (exclusive to the Continental V8) or Diamond Silver finishes.

Everything else aside, the big news for the new Continental GT and GTC V8 is the new engine. The new 4.0 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine delivers a total of 500 HP at 6000 rpm and an extraordinary peak torque of 487 lb-ft available across virtually the entire rev range from 1700 to 5000 rpm. The engine is combined with a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission, which together will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 180 mph. By comparison, the models equipped with a 6.0 liter W12 engine will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 198 mph.

However, Bentley has promised that the new V8 engine will come with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Official numbers will be announced in early 2012, but until then, the company said that the Continental V8 will be capable of traveling over 500 miles (800km) on a single tank of gas.

these vehicles as well as the design and color because he was dark blue and he had nothing but rooftop can also apply also.the headlight bhe was four large and the steam machine is great as well and then
The car seat is very soft and considerably more space inside her.

I am truly amazed on Bentley cars! They can always produce a nice designed car with an outstanding engine. I can’t blame this car for having that expensive price. Anyway, V8 engine is good but I think they should boost it even more.

Bentley’s vehicle is one of the best and most luxurious cars that I ever saw! Well, I will not get surprised if this car is too expensive on its market price. Moreover, I still find it very exciting to drive with on its V8 engine.

Yeah! Its engine is still great on it, and the fact that it is not a sports car; I don’t think that it needs to have that kind of super powerful engine. Anyway, it’s a good thing that Bentley maintained its luxury image.

Well, even though they didn’t use a V12 engine on this, it still quite powerful for this luxury vehicle and that is the good thing on it. Moreover, I must say that I’m as yet so impressed on its interior, especially on its center console!

Yeah! I have to agree with that. This newly developed Bentley is really interesting than on before. However, I wonder if why didn’t use a V12 engine like they use to adapt for their vehicles.

Every developed car, turn into more interesting car after the configuration and enhancement. That’s the reason why I’m after to what’s new and improvements of the car. Special those I critic before.

I don’t get why there are a lot that still use the v8 technology when it produced a less power output. I was really impressed with the success of the continental GT.

If not mistaken, Bentley just released a new production for this car. I wonder why does the w12 technology hasn’t boosted the figure performance of the car.

If Bentley if preferring to use that new turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 engine in a series of their cars, maybe it’s their best shot as of this moment. Though it would not be as powerful as the 6.0 liter W-12 engine, Its lower emission is a good concept..

This Bentley Continental really has an impressive performance. For a luxury car, it really shows luxury. I do like the fact they are now using a 4.0 liter engine. A turbo charged v8 will really be an outstanding engine.

This vehicle has a classy styling just like any British design style. I love the sexiness of this vehicle and its upgraded high technology features. I would definitely take away the Audi R8 over the Continental GT V8!

This future production is quite an interesting production. The design of the car is quite similar to Bugatti though it has a less power output. I’m glad to see an upgraded electronics for the car into a modern day standard. The redesign look so nice.
