The Bentley Mulsanne was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and launched in the United States for the 2010 model year. Developed as a competitor to the Rolls-Royce Ghost , the Mulsanne revived a nameplate previously used between 1980 and 1992 and replaced the Bentley Arnage . The Mulsanne remained unchanged since its introduction, with only an equipment update in 2013 and a few special-edition models keeping the luxury sedan somewhat fresh until 2014.

For 2015, the Mulsanne gains its first true facelift in five years, one that brings upgrades in the engine department as well. The venerable, 6.75-liter, V-8 mill is in for a hefty performance bump, while a re-tuned chassis comes to improve handling and responsiveness. A hotter version of the Mulsanne that takes inspiration from the Bentley GT3-R is also in the books, but the Brits are still keeping all the important details in the vault. Bentley is planning to field a factory team at the Nurburgring 24 Hours next year. The British automaker will tackle the famed endurance event using its Continental GT3 race car. The announcement comes ahead of the 2014 race this weekend.

Bentley revealed that it is also considering other endurance races in 2015, but the automaker declined to get too deep in the detail. The Brits did, however, confirm that the Bentley Continental GT3 will take part in the Blancplain Endurance Series in 2015, most likely with a two-car lineup. What’s more, Bentley Motorsport will extend the Continental GT3 program to include several customer teams.

In the meantime, the Continental GT3 will face its first official 24-hour test in the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa on July 27th. The race will take place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and is the fourth event of the 2014 Blancplain Endurance Series.

Last time our spy photographers caught the upcoming Bentley SUV roaming the streets of Britain, the mule was cleverly disguised as an Audi Q7 . Not exactly surprising considering the two will share the same platform, but obviously disappointing for those anxious to see the looks of the new luxury SUV , us included. Less than a month has passed since then, and we can finally see some of the details adorning the company’s first ever SUV, as the Audi -like mule just turned into a proper Bentley prototype wearing a heap of familiar details.

As expected, the overall styling goes back to the EXP 9 F concept that previewed the production model. However, the large family ride is set to receive a host of cues already present on other Bentley models.

Essentially a beefier Flying Spur with a wagon -like rear end, the SUV shares the sedan’s massive mesh grille and headlamps. What sets this SUV apart are the large intakes flanking the grille, a more pronounced hood, and a more angular front end. However, the latter might be just an effect that could disappear as soon as the camo is taken away. Either way, the front fascia is imposing enough for a luxury SUV of this stature.

Ultra-luxury brands beware, another one of your comrades is falling down the shame spiral and building a - gasp - SUV! Sure that’s a little dramatic, but so are all of the people that are scoffing at the fact that Bentley has now confirmed a new SUV scheduled to hit their lineup sometime in 2015. If everyone remembers correctly, these are the same people that were horrified that Porsche decided to build the Cayenne and look how well that turned out for them.

Now, with a 37-percent increase in sales in 2011 (to 7,003 vehicles sold), Bentley is looking to double this number by the time this new SUV, rumored to have the name "Falcon Falcon " — comes out by making it "the world’s most luxurious 4x4" SUV and targeting growing SUV markets like the U.S. and China. The "luxurious" title will also match the price; rumors point to the starting price for this future SUV coming in at $271,000, making the $48,200 starting price of the Porsche Cayenne look like it belongs on a Kia Sportage .

So, what constitutes the jumbo price tag? Other than the supposedly tremendous amount of luxury built into the future SUV, rumors are swirling that a V-8 twin-turbocharged engine would be the standard powerplant and a W-12 engine is a possible option.

Bentley is taking a big step with its improving sales by giving an SUV a chance to flourish. Does the world need a strong competitor for the Porsche Cayenne? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean that high-end customers with deep pockets won’t be writing out checks for a chance to wallow in the luxurious nature promised by Bentley.

Updated 05/27/2014: Bentley launched a new website for its upcoming SUV. The automaker will update the site continuously with details on the future model. Described as the "world’s most powerful and luxurious SUV," the new Bentley will put its new SUV on sale in 2016, with a plug-in hybrid option set to follow in 2017.

Updated 06/30/2014: In a recent interview with the British magazine AutoCar Bentley boss Wolfgang Dürheimer confirmed that the company’s future SUV will be the most expensive SUV currently available on the market. It will be priced at about £130,000 - or $220,000 at the current exchange rates. This is a lot indeed, but its less than initially expected: £200,000 - or $340,000 at the current exchange rates.

The Bugatti Veyron may be the world’s fastest production car according to the Guinness Book of World Records, but the Molsheim-built supercar is far from being the most powerful road-legal vehicle ever built.

The Hennessey Venom GT , for instance, is one of the very few machines that surpass the Veyron in terms of ponies. The American hypercar has no less than 1,244 horses pushing it from behind, while the Bugatti benefits from "just" 1,200 horsepower. Then there’s the amazing Koenigsegg One:1 , a 1,340-horsepower packed vehicle that threatens to obliterate all production car records.

But the Swedish supercar is no match to the Bentley Continental GT that’s ready to shake the Santa Pod raceway located in the United Kingdom this weekend. Don’t let its GT configuration and luxurious status fool ya, this is no regular Continental GT, but a heavily modified that’s hiding 3,124 horsepower under the hood.

As you might have already guessed, the GT is no longer sporting a Bentley powerplant under the, but a Chevrolet-sourced, 10.2-liter, V-8 crate engine with twin turbochargers. It also features a strengthened steel body shell and a lightweight interior consisting of several carbon-fiber parts that reduce the car’s overall weight.

Built in about eight months by a team of enthusiasts that spent in excess of $400,000 for the mods, the monstrous Bentley Continental GT will compete in the Street Eliminator class for road-legal vehicles, part of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

“Wait, didn’t that headline read ‘Bentley’?” Yes, it sure did. At first glance, this is just an Audi Q7 mule out for testing somewhere in England. Look closer though, and a few things start to look suspicious. First up are those UK plates. Audi is German, but Bentley hails from the land of tea and crumpets. Those fenders are also looking quite wide compared to a standard Q7. Perhaps this is just a clever disguise by the Volkswagen Group to hide Bentley’s first-ever SUV .

Diving into the details of the pictures reveals larger air intakes below the headlights. Also expanded are those fenders that cover a larger and wider wheel and tire package. Why have larger air intakes and wheels? At the mule-testing stage, it isn’t a design feature but a mechanical one. A premium Bentley will require the biggest and best brakes to slow the roll from a massive engine not normally found in the Q7’s engine bay.

This isn’t the first time we’ve suggested VW Group might be putting the 6.0-liter, W-12 engine into the Bentley off-roader. Remember, that engine is twin-turbocharged, and large intercoolers will be needed to keep temperatures in check.

However, this is basically an educated guess as to what Audi/Bentley/VW Group is up to. Stay tuned to TopSpeed for any further developments.

It certainly goes without saying that there are few automakers in this world that can compete with Bentley’s status as a premier luxury brand . But being identified with luxury isn’t the only thing that Bentley is proud of; the company also has this goal of combining all that class and elegance with technology. So the company developed a new four-minute short film, titled "Intelligent Details," to specifically showcase how it has achieved blending luxury and technology in one package.

The short film is told through the words of Bentley Director of Design Luc Donckerwolke and Head of Exterior Design Sang Yup Lee. While riding the Mulsanne in the streets of New York, the two describe the company’s goal of offering
"performance that’s compatible with luxury", something Donckerwolke proudly claims no other auto brand in the world can claim.

The two also talk about a new goal for the company to turn the interior of its vehicles into its own living space that’s largely attributed to a renewed sense of empowering it with interior infotainment technology. This is where the short film comes circle in a really cool way. We’re not going to spoil you the ending of the video, but what Bentley used to develop, create, and edit this four-minute short film certainly may shock you, given its professional quality.

Founded in 1919 by Walter Own Bentley, British luxury automaker Bentley is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the Crewe-based manufacturer is rolling out a special-edition Mulsanne that will be sold with in special heritage colors, and with exclusive features inside and out.

Dubbed Mulsanne 95, the limited edition four-door sedan was created with help from the company’s iconic Mulliner division, who will also be in charge with the vehicle’s hand-crafted assembly process.

Three bespoke exterior colors have been conceived specifically for the Mulsanne 95, while a Flying B mascot finished in a dark tint and large, 21-inch five-spoke wheels will further add to the sedan ’s sumptuous appearance. The details are much more intriguing on the inside, where customers will be greeted by luxurious wood veneers and bespoke "Ninety Five" scripts.

But before we take a deeper dive into the Mulsanne 95, we’d like to break the only bad news about it. Only 15 examples of this limousine will be built and all of them will be sold sold in the United Kingdom exclusively. No soup for you, North America!

With 521 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque under the hood, the 2014 Bentley Continental GT V8 S is no slouch. However, it appears that the said model is about to be stripped of its range-topping status as Bentley was caught testing what looks to be an even hotter version of the Conti GT V8.

Although the Brits have yet to say anything on the matter, a slightly modified Continental GT V8 S was recently spotted at the Nurburgring , and this suggests that a more powerful version of the coupe — possibly an RS model — is on its way.

The photos that we received from our trusty spy photographers of this model testing reveal an aerodynamically enhanced V8 GT that takes to the track with a front splitter, a fixed rear wing and a lowered, and likely stiffer, suspension.

There’s no word as to how many horses might be pushing out, but we see it fit for the British manufacturer to have tuned the twin-turbo, 4.0-liter, V-8 engine to deliver at least 550 horsepower.

Is Bentley finally taking the know how from the Continental GT3 race car into a road-going model? Guess we’ll just have to wait a little bit longer to find out. Then again, could this just be Bentley doing random testing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Okay, we’ve seen Porsche , BMW and Audi all experimenting with hybrid and electric cars , which is okay. But now things are getting a little more upscale in the electrification of luxury cars to help boost mpgs without losing performance and comfort. The latest of the entrants is Bentley with its Beijing-bound Hybrid Concept, which is little more than an electrified and copper-accented Mulsanne . Hey, if you’re gonna reveal a new hybrid engine, then why not show it off in your flagship sedan?

The details are still a little scarce on the Hybrid Concept, but Bentlry did let us in on a few details. We know that the hybrid drivetrain will carry the same 6.75-liter V-8 gas burner as the base model, but with electric motors added to boost fuel economy and output, while decreasing CO2 emissions. According to Bentley, this drivetrain bumps fuel economy up by 25 percent and guts CO2 by 70 percent.

What’s more, this drivetrain is in Bentley’s future plans, and it will slowly make its way into every Bentley vehicle.
