Toyota Camry Hybrid - 2007 Green Car of the Year

Toyota Camry Hybrid was named 2007 Green Car of the Year and Toyota dedicated the award to Dave Hermance, the company’s lead engineer on hybrid projects who died in a private airplane crash less than a week ago.

The Camry Hybrid beat out four other finalists that included the Honda Civic GX, Lexus LS450H, Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec and Saturn Vue Green Line.

The Camry hybrid has fuel economy ratings of 43 mpg city/37 mpg highway. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, aluminum alloy block with aluminum alloy head engine with an output of 147 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 138 lbs-ft of torque.
