BMW 4-Series

Shortly after BMW unveiled the 4 Series Coupe , the first details on the Convertible version were also dropped. The model will be making its world debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show , but BMW decided to stop making us waiting and came up with pretty much there was to known on the model.

The new 4 Series Convertible will be a cheaper alternative to the high-end 6-Series Convertible and the company hopes it will appeal to the younger crowd. The model took pretty much all its design elements from the coupe version, except of course the three-piece retractable hardtop that can be operated in only 20 seconds.

For the American market BMW will only offer two variants: 428i priced at $49,675 and 435i priced at $55,825. Sales will begin in the first quarter of 2014.

Updated 10/14/2013: This review was updated with the official details, images and specs.

BMW M4 Coupe

BMW was established in 1916, so in 2016 the company will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To mark the event, the company will launch a hardcore version of the upcoming M4 Coupe .

While details on this new model are limited at this point, numerous BMW sources have indicated that the new M4 will be similar to the M3 GTS the Bimmer launched in 2010. It will get more power, weight less, feature just two seats and a manual transmission.

When compared to the 2014 M4 Coupe set to be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show , this hopped-up M4 will be about 220 pounds lighter. To achieve this drastic weight loss, BMW plans to use carbon fiber for the roof, trunk lid, hood and front wings, while the doors will be from aluminum.

BMW will keep interior equipment to a minimum, as it will remove the rear seats and replace the front seats with light carbon shells wrapped in lightweight Alcantara.

No details are available on the the engine just yet, but considering that the M3 GTS delivered a total of 450 horsepower (a 36-horsepower increase over the base M3), we expect the next M4 GTS to deliver around 465 horsepower from its brand new, six-cylinder engine.

When it comes to updating Bimmers , AC Schnitzer does some of the the most incredible work. Its latest kit announced for the 4 Series Coupe is no exception to the norm. Though this is not the first upgrade announced for BMW’s latest coupe , the package revealed today by AC Schnitzer is definitely the coolest yet.

As usual, the tuner’s upgrades can be applied to the entire 4 Series lineup, and it includes updates nearly every aspect of the car.

The tuner started its work under the hood where it opted to improve both the gasoline and diesel models. The base 428i sees an improvement from 245 to 294 horsepower, while top gasoline model — the 435i — goes from 306 to 360 horsepower. For the diesel variant — the 420d — the output jumps from 184 to 218 horsepower. Along with the engine upgrades, the 4 Series’ exhaust system also gets an update, with new sports rear silencer that features two chromed "Racing" tailpipes.

Believe it not, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe is set to receive its first upgrade kit. The German tuner, JMS, offers up this kit for the upcoming 4 Series Coupe , which is set to hit the Market in October. For now updates are kept to a minimum and are still in the computer-generation phase, but JMS promised that in the near future, it will also offer a new exhaust system, more exterior upgrades and some tuning, via performance chipping.

For now, customers will have to be satisfied with what BMW offers from factory. The 4 Series’ factory offerings start out with the 428i, which is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 240 horsepower. To date, the top model is the 435i, which features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter, in-line-six engine with 300 horsepower.

JMS’ upgrade kit will be available in early 2014, and it includes an updated exterior look, new wheels and an updated suspension.

BMW 4 Series Gran Coupè

While most of the world is waiting for the official unveiling of the production version BMW i8 , BMW engineers are busy testing cars that we are not going to see just yet; like this 4 Series GranCoupe caught in less camo then ever before.

When compared to the 3 Series GT, the new 4 Series GranCoupe rides much lower and has a more elegant body that is sleek and sexy.

The exterior of the new 4 Series GranCoupe will combine design elements recently unveiled by the 4 Series Coupe with a four-door coupe-like look. The engine lineup will also be shared with the recently launched 4 Series Coupe and, depending on the market, will include both gasoline and diesel engines.

Expect the BMW 4 Series GranCoupe to arrive in 2014 as a 2015 model.

The BMW Concept M4’s official images were revealed today in Pebble Beach, where the Concept M4 will join the vintage 507 Cabriolet and a few other greatest hits on the BMW show grass this week. The Concept M4 previews one of the most exciting new cars of next year, and BMW ’s M car concept history tells us that the production car will pack all of the drama and technical beauty of this stunning concept.

No details yet on the powertrain or the performance, but considering that the 335i hits 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds - the extra performance of the M4 should bring the times into the high 3’s for the first time. Explosive turbocharged power is a sure thing - and goes very well with the stunning visual feast that is the Concept M4.

Away from the glamor and sun-drenched crowds at Pebble Beach, the 2015 BMW M4 production model is undergoing final testing and handling tweaks, with its arrival in U.S. dealers some time next summer to battle the Nissan GT-R , Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe and the Audi RS5 .

The 2013 running of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance just keeps getting better with every passing hour as we approach the start of the show. BMW has just announced that it will be at Pebble Beach in full effect with the 2013 Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupè , which will make this the North American debut for this concept, and a BMW 507 Roadster, which only made its way to 250 lucky owners through the late 1950s.

While those two tidbits of information are awesome in their own right, the big news has something to do with a slightly newer model. Yes, the all-new 2014 BMW 428i will make its way to the Concours and BMW will actually be raffling off the brand-new coupe. That’s right, one lucky spectator will have a free 428i with the Sportline Premium Package in tow delivered to his or her home in January 2014. The estimated value of the total package is about $50k.

Tickets are available for purchase by calling (831) 455-4712 or by downloading the entry form here and emailing, faxing or mailing the form. The raffle tickets are $100 each and you do not need to be in attendance to win the vehicle. Simply check off the "I will NOT be present" box on the form or alert the operator you speak to on the phone that you will not be in Pebble Beach. Only 2,000 raffle tickets will be offered, so you had better get to sending in your forms or dialing your phone.

To boot, the money collected from the raffle will go to supporting abused, neglected and abandoned children by way of the Kinship Center.

Now that the new BMW 4 Series Coupe is out and live, we are simply waiting for the convertible version to come.

Of course, there will be no surprises when it finally debuts, but we are still happy that our our spy photographers sent us these sweet spy shots that reveal the 4 Series Convertible in a stunning Melbourne Red hue and featuring the M Sport Package .

It looks like the engineers took the car out for a testing session at high altitude and since it was a sunny day, they were kind enough to open the top for our spy shooters.

As no surprise, the 4 Series Convertible will share its technology with its hard-top brethren, including the engine lineup, the transmissions and the equipment features. The M Sport package will make it look a little more aggressive and prepares us for the upcoming M4 Convertible.

BMW will put the new BMW 4 Series Convertible into production by the end of 2013.

While most of us we have only seen pictures of the new BMW 4 Series , Chris Harris was a little bit more lucky. He was invited to Portugal where he had the chance to test the new 435i. Yes, a 306-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive Bimmer — sadly, it’s not the one that included the M Performance Parts .

A little refresher course on the 435i for those of you who do not remember; the 435i is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter in-line-six engine with 306 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The 435i hits 60 mph in about 5 seconds with the standard eight-speed automatic and 5.3 seconds with the six-speed manual. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.

After testing it, Harris reviewed the 435i as a "very good performance car, but a little bit ordinary." Do you agree with him?

When BMW handed Harris the keys to the 435i the representatives said "No drifting, please." So, do you think did Harris resist the temptation? Check the video to find out!

With the 2014 4 Series Coupe finally made official and Bimmer outlining all of the juicy details, we were simply in a holding pattern waiting for the mighty M4 . Well, BMW hasn’t released that just yet, but it has unveiled a 4 Series model bearing all of the M Performance parts available for the new model during a press event in Lisbon, Portugal.

Sure, this isn’t a 400-plus horsepower coupe, but the grouping of M Performance Parts hanging on the base 4 Series helps give us idea just what the M4 will look like. From the first details, we know that the M Division will offer up a full aero kit in carbon fiber, a fancy set of rims, a few interior updates and even a mild performance hike across the 4 Series range.

So, is this kit actually worth the king’s ransom that BMW will likely charge for it?
