  The BMW 6-Series began its life back in 1976 with the E24 6 Series and saw its second generation unfold in 2003 with the E63/E64 6 Series. This generation 6-Series was powered by a 3.0L inline-six engine (petrol and diesel), a 4.8L V8, and a 5.0L V10 BMW M6 engine. These engines were mated to a choice of a six-speed manual or automatic, and a seven-speed SMGIII. The third generation of the 6-Series is nearing with the first model appearing as the 650i Convertible. The vehicle will be powered by two gas engines: a 6 cylinder twin turbo engine producing 320hp at 5800rpm and a V8 twin turbo engine producing 407hp at 5500 rpm.

What is the appeal of a really hardcore performance sedan ? There are a dozen valid reasons, and most car guys will not need much persuading to get on-board. Killer pace starts from the new Panamera Turbo ’s projected 3.2-second blastoff to 60 mph.

The ingredients for the recipe are deceptively simple: big power all over the rev dial, rear-drive bias strongly preferred, and a manual box unless the automatic is absolutely state of the art.

The last and least important part? Those rear doors. Buyers of the hottest full-size performance sedans typically do not mind a tiny back seat. After all, the best possible passengers back there will probably be adoring ladies in thousand-dollar outfits.

So, megalux atmosphere back there is more important than true comfort and versatility. After all, you cannot take three beautiful and giggling best friends for a windows-down, radio-up spin in the hills without a swanky coupe-like sedan.

Even better is a stomping acceleration soundtrack and real panache outside the hottest bars and restaurants. No longer just Euro exclusives: all the cars on this list can be bought or ordered right here in the U.S. for 2013 or 2014.

When G-Power released the first M6 Bi-Tronic III kit , we were rather impressed by the stunning 640 horsepower and 573 pound-feet of torque the tuner was able so milk from the 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Well, color us astounded, as G-Force went right back into the garage and churned on the Bi-Tronic-III V2 kit for the F13 M6 that makes this one of the fastest and most powerful M6 models on Earth.

G-Power added in a new ECU tune and a high-flow exhaust system to extract 710 horsepower between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm, and 656 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm from the fire-breathing BMW V-8. That’s an unthinkable 150-horsepower and 156 pound-feet gain over the already awesome base M6. With this mammoth amount of power in tow, the M6 Bi-Tronic III sprints to 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 10.8 seconds and hits a top speed of 186 mph — a 31 mph gain. Unfortunately, G-Power did not make light of its 0-to-60 mph time, but we’re sure it is far better than the stock 4.1 seconds — likely, it is around 3.5 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the original Bi-Tronic III M6).

G-Power went to great lengths to also enhance the handling, braking and look of the M6 with additional components. Keeping the M6 glued to the road are 21-inch G-Power Hurricane forged wheels with 265/30 Z-Rated Michelin tires up front and super-wide 305/25 Z-rated Michelin rubber out back. Making sure the body roll is minimal and that maximum rubber touches the road is the GM6-RS G-Power coil-over suspension

G-Power also added in a ceramic braking package that reduces unsprung weight and brake fade for optimal stopping power without negatively affecting the car’s handling.

In 2013, BMW unveiled the 6 Series Gran Coupe and for 2014, Bimmer added all-wheel drive to the 640i, and improved the iDrive controls and 3D navigation across the model line. Despite its relative youth on the market, German tuner, Kelleners Sport, decided to tweak the four-door coupe.

Kelleners Sport started by updating the output level in the 640i and 640d , so both models now deliver 20-percent more power. For the 640d version the power was increased by 53 horsepower to a total of 366 horsepower, while the peak torque goes from 464 to 543 pound-feet. For the 640i, the tuner offers a power increase from 320 to 374 horsepower and the from 331 to 388 pound-feet of torque.

Alongside the power increase, Kelleners also offers a new exhaust system with four end pipes that considerable improve the acoustics of the engine.

BMW announced today the addition of a new M Sport edition offered for the entire 6-Series lineup : Coupe , Convertible and Grand Coupe . The new edition will be available from June 2013 at a starting price of $80,625.

According to BMW, the new special edition "delivers a driving experience that assuages the most discerning requirements while also offering an attractive price advantage." The new 6 Series M Sport Edition will be distinguished by tons of M-specific elements, like an aerodynamic kit, wheels and exhaust system.

The interior has also been optimized with numerous M elements, like M leather steering wheel, M door sill finishers and sports seats in Alcantara/Nappa leather.

As a first for the 6 Series, BMW is also offering a Sakhir Orange metallic M paintwork combined with an interior trim in BMW Individual leather Merino fine grain Opal white with contrast seams in Sakhir Orange.

Most people don’t take a look at the 2013 BMW M6 and think “this car needs to be faster.” However, the mad tuners over at Manhart Racing have decided to do just that.

They are working on a program for the M6 called the MH6 S Biturbo. The program sets the tuner loose on the car working to take its performance to the moon.

After they finish with the car, it will put 700 horsepower to the pavement and an Earth-moving 664 pound-feet of torque. We believe that all this power should be enough to launch the MH6 from 0 to 60 mph in a scant 3.5 seconds. We also expect an Autobahn-dominating top speed of around 198 mph.

To accomplish the higher output a high-performance twin-turbo system replaces the stock system on the otherwise stock 4.4-liter V-8 engine. In order to keep the exhaust flowing freely, MAnhart installed a complete exhaust system, including a new catalytic converter and Manhart’s end-silencer to keep the exhaust sounding throaty, but not overbearing.

All the straight-line performance is great on a drag strip, but what happens when you decide to take it on a curvy road? Well, to keep the car handling well in the twist, the tuner fitted a complete coilover kit to the car.

One of the biggest surprises on the German public roads this week was an Alpina version of the 2014 6-Series GranCoupe . As you can see, the model is wearing camouflage only in the parts rumored to be updated, because as usual, Alpina is preparing the biggest updates under the hood.

As you can see from these spy shots, Alpina will use a 650i version for its project. While in the standard version the 4.4-liter V-8 engine delivers a total of 450 horsepower, Alpina is rumored to add at least an extra 100 horsepower. We expect this extra power to significantly improve the car’s current 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds.

Next to the engine upgrades, Alpina will also offer a few styling changes, an updated interior and.a new set of wheels, of course.

Expect the new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe by Alpina to be unveiled in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Over the past 15 years, BMW has been the official safety car of Moto GP. The partnership has lasted that long and judging by the recent unveiling of the new safety car for the 2013 season, the bond between BMW and Moto GP are as strong as it’s ever been.

This year, the official safety car of the Moto GP season is a BMW M6 Gran Coupe . Sporting the traditional BMW safety car colors of white matched with strips of red, blue, and light blue, the 6-Series Gran Coupe Safety Car looks like it’s ready to lay down the safety standards for the 2013 season.

Considering that competitors will be on high-powered bikes, this 6-Series Gran Coupe also has a powertrain - a 4.4-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine - that can match wits with those two-wheeled rockets. That engine is good for 560 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, and mates to a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission. This provides the M6 Gran Coupe a 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

The third-generation BMW 6-Series was unveiled back in 2011 and for the 2014 model year BMW has announced a series of updates. The biggest one will be of course the addition of the new Frozen Brilliant White Edition , but next to it BMW is also offering a series of updates, mainly on the car’s technology features.

The 640i Gran Coupe will now be offered with BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system, and the navigation system will now be offered with a revised design and honed operating system. Other updates include redesigned navigation displays, new special functions for the interactive map and new functions for the split screen in the central information display. The navigation system will now be offered with a full speech-recognition function and optimized voice-control system.

No changes have been made under the hood, so customers will have to choose between the usual 3-liter six-cylinder and the 4.4-liter V-8 engine.

The 2014 BMW 6-Series will be heading to dealers soon and BMW has just announced an all-new special edition for folks who happen to think the 2014 650i just won’t be enough car for them. This new model is dubbed the Frozen Brilliant White Edition and you can order it in two trim levels: 650i Convertible or 650i xDrive Convertible.

On the outside, there is plenty to distinguish this new model from the normal 6-Series. The most distinguishing element is its exclusive Frozen Brilliant White Metallic matte paintjob, but the Frozen Black mirror caps, black BMW kidney grilles and 20-inch BMW M Performance light-alloy wheels in a bi-color paint scheme also help set it apart. Contrasting the exterior color perfectly is the black cloth top.

Inside the cabin, this new special edition includes black Nappa leather upholstery trimmed out with Gray Poplar wood. The Frozen Brilliant White Edition also includes the Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster, which is making its debut in the U.S. Basically, this system changes its look and what it displays to match the Driving Dynamics Control Mode you select.

In addition to these exclusive additions, BMW is also tossing in the M Sport Package, which includes an increase in the top-speed limiter, Shadowline exterior trimming, body-colored front and rear bumpers, and an M Steering wheel. Also added in is the Executive Package, which adds ceramic controls, a heads-up display, ventilated front seats, smartphone integration, soft-close automatic doors and BMW Apps. Lastly, BMW adds the Cold Weather Package standard, which adds in a ski bag and a heated steering wheel. In 2013, these kits combined would cost you a whopping $8,100 and you get them “free.”

Under the hood, there are no changes from the base 650i, so we would expect it to carry the same 4.4-liter V-8 that punches out 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The only difference between this and the base 650i Convertible is that the M Performance package jumps its top speed from 130 mph to 155 mph.

As for pricing, the 650i Frozen Brilliant White Edition will come in at $106,995 and the xDrive model will hit $110,095. Production is set to start in April or May of 2013 and only 100 models will be produced.

Leave it to G-Power to build another high-powered program for German automaker BMW .

For starters, the M6-Bi-Tronik III will come with a performance upgrade that involves optimizing the M6 Coupe’s twin-turbo V-8 engine and adding in a new Titanium exhaust system that includes titanium link pipes with resonators starting from the downpipe catalysts, netting the sports car 640 horsepower, a full 80 ponies more than the standard model. The car’s twisting power was also increased to 573 pound-feet of torque. This nets the M6 a top speed of 195 mph and a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds.

In addition to the performance upgrade, the Bi-Tronik III program will also receive an RS coil-over suspension system, a four-pipe stainless steel exhaust system, a set of 21-inch Silverstone RS forged wheels and carbon-fiber brakes. Also included is a high-performance brake system that features six brake pistons and 420 mm (16.53 inches) brake disc diameter for the front axle.

The cost for the entire kit is €36,150 (about $47,250 at the current exchange rates).
