BMW USA is continuing to expand its M3 special edition line-up with a new M3 Lime Park Edition Coupe. The new model was built as tribute to the historic Lime Rock Park racing circuit located in northwestern Connecticut and, as Skip Barber describes it, is "a classic car for a classic track." This new model is also a great way to send off the current M3, in preparation for the future generation.
The BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition Coupe will be offered in a very cool Fire Orange exterior paint and comes standard with the Competition package, which includes 19" Style 359M silver wheels. The exterior package comes equipped with carbon fiber front chin splitters, a carbon fiber rear deck spoiler, a carbon fiber roof panel and a lightweight inconel-titanium exhaust muffler. For the interior, BMW is offering Anthracite and black cloth manual-adjustment seats with Nappa Leather trim, an Anthracite Alcantara steering wheel with flat-bottom design and a blue index stripe, and carbon leather trim.
The BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition Coupe will be limited to only 200 units and will go on sale in September 2012 at a starting price of $70,995 including $895 Destination and Handling. The company only plans to build 25 units a week, meaning that in two months, the production for this limited edition will be over.

Usually a photo shoot implies the following: you take the car and shoot some pictures in the studio, and then comes the magic. By "magic," we mean Photoshop. For each picture taken in the studio, a very talented man will be behind the computer providing a different background.
This time, however, BMW decided it was time to do things differently. The company took the BMW M3 GT2 Art Carto a very cool location: on the famous Pulpit Rock (or Preikestolen), Norway. The images taken are part of a seven art car exhibition at the Stavanger Museum close to the actual shoot location.
The BMW M3 GT2 Art Car was designed by Jeff Koons who put together images of race cars, related graphics, vibrant colors, speed, and explosions. What he ended up with was a design that was meant to display power, motion, and bursting energy.
We are all waiting for the new generation BMW M3 to be launched onto the market sometime in 2013, but the long wait is making us weary and the testing sessions are getting too few and far between for our liking. Luckily, we found this video of the upcoming model as it accelerated out of the Karussell on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The future BMW M3 will drop the current 420 HP engine and will replace it with a new twin-turbo 3.0 liter straight-six engine. The engine will take the output up to impressive 450 HP. This video provides us with the chance to the amazing sounds of the future turbocharged inline six-cylinder motor of the upcoming M3.
The new BMW M3 will be a 2013 model year car in Europe, but will be labelled as a 2014 car for the North American market.
In the past few years, the European police units have had the chance to enjoy some of the most amazing sports and super cars out on the market in one way or another, such as the Italian officers’ use of the Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia. Now, they’re getting another toy to play with thanks to BMW. The German automaker has unveiled a very cool M5 Police car at the Welt Museum in Munich, Germany. Unfortunately, this is just a concept for now, so the bad guys can hold off on worrying.
The M5 Police Car features the traditional German police livery, a black grille, and a light bar. Just as all the other German police cars, the new M5 Police has been equipped with iDrive-controlled warning lights, LED identification lights, and sirens. Add that to the already amazing 560 HP 4.4 liter V8 engine, and you have an amazing police car!
While most people are busy speculating as to whether or not the new generation BMW M3 will have two or three turbos to boost its six-cylinder engine, G-Power is skipping the whole standard nonsense by applying a boost of their own to a customer’s E92 M3.
The modifications done on the engine included the addition of a custom crankshaft and pistons from Mahle to increase the engine’s displacement from 4.0 liters to 4.6. A SK III ASA T1-723 supercharger kit, combined with a carbon fiber air box and titanium exhaust system, were installed to increase the engine’s output to an amazing 720 HP. As a result, the car goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 205 mph. Certainly not your average Bimmer.
G-Power proceeded to make the car look the part of a speed demon by adding a lower front spoiler, a new engine bonnet, and a new boot lid all made from carbon fiber. The final additions were a new set of 20" Silverstone Diamond alloy wheels and a Clubsport adjustable coilover kit.
If you happen to own a non-M3 E46 3-Series, but want the look of the M3, Prior design has come up with an M3 styling kit that may suit you.
Starting up front, Prior Design eliminates the boring E46’s front bumper and replaces it with a unit that boasts a wide mouth and two side air intakes. The mouth’s outline is rather thin, keeping the drag to a minimum, and it is high enough off of the ground to avoid scraping.
For the sides of your awaiting 3-Series, Prior includes a set of side skirts that not only boast a very modern ankle line, but they also make your 3-Series look lower to the ground without any suspension modifications. Unfortunately, the side skirts just don’t quite fit in with the E46’s lines and stick out pretty badly.
Prior Design makes up for its sub-standard side skirts with a sweet backside addition to the 3-Series. This new rear bumper eliminates the econo-box-looking rear bumper that BMW slapped on the E46 3-Series and replaces it with a unit that features just the right amount of shape, a small diffuser, and cutouts for a dual exhaust setup. Our only issue here is what if the owner doesn’t have or want dual exhaust? Then he’s stuck with a goofy looking bumper.
Here’s the real test; does this kit make a regular 3-Series look like an M3? We have to be totally honest here; if you flew by at 80 mph with a nasty dual exhaust system rumbling behind you, we might mistake it for an M3. Sitting at a stop light, this kit is easily pegged as a poor knock off. The only component that somewhat resembles the M3 is the front bumper and even that is off track.
It’s a noble attempt by Prior and it would be okay as a regular body kit, sans the side skirts, but to call it an “M3 Styling” kit is a reach.
If you still want it, you can get the kit for €957 ($1,200 at current rates). We do suggest skipping the side skirts and finding another set that better suits the car, which will save you €199 ($250 at current rates).
Noted BMW tuner G-Power has a long history of bringing the noise when it comes to their programs for the German automaker. Their latest program for the 1-Series M Coupe is even more proof of their already stellar reputation as one of the finest BMW tuners in the world.
Using their know-how, G-Power has put together a performance package for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe that’s considered one of the finest in the market, thanks to a plethora of new components added to the car’s engine. The first order of business was the addition of flow optimized downpipes to reduce the exhaust gas temperature and an enlarged capacity for the boost cooling system. G-power installed these components so that the operating temperature of the engine is kept in tip-top shape.
From there, G-Power is adding a titanium exhaust system that not only reduces the weight from the stock system, but also enhances the car’s performance through a wireless control switch. Then, the German tuner installed a custom-made engine software that boosts the output from 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque to 435 horsepower and 435 lb/ft of torque. Those numbers translate to a 0-62 mph time of just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.
Suspension was also a point of concern for G-Power. So they fitted the 1-Series M Coupe with a new set of their 20" G-Power Silverstone double-spoke wheels wrapped in 20" Michelin tires. Finally, the German tuner did their homework on the brakes, providing its own ceramic braking system to round out the modifications.
The 2014 BMW M3 has been just about everywhere in the past few weeks, getting dragged through numerous testing grounds to ensure that just about everything is on the up and up. Unfortunately, none of this matters to a certain extent because we won’t be seeing the production version until the Frankfurt Motor Show opens up in 2013. Before that, all we’ll see is a concept version of the BMW M3 as it sashays its way onto the 2013 Geneva Motor Show floor.
These new spy shots show a lot of the front end which has previously been draped in camouflage. The stripping away of the camo hasn’t shown us much, except for a sleeker bumper that makes it look like the old one was smooshed to a thinner state. The shape of the air vents has also been modified just a bit, but not enough to make much difference.
The biggest changes for the M3 can actually be found under the hood. Rumors have been floating around that the V8 engine was dropped in favor of a new inline-six, and this was recently been confirmed by President of BMW North America, Mr. Ludwig Willisch. The only thing that has yet to be confirmed is whether or not this new inline-six will be given a boost with two or three turbochargers. Regardless of the technology, the future M3 will deliver at least 450 HP.
At first glance, this latest tuning project from Florida-based Precision Sport Industries looks just like the standard BMW 1-Series M Coupe that made its much-awaited debut in 2010, but upon closer inspection, there are tons of new features that will make this bad boy stand apart from the rest.
The updates start on the front end where the tuner added a new BMW Performance black kidney grille and a new carbon fiber front splitter. For the rear, PSI added a new BMW Performance carbon fiber trunk spoiler and a Revozport rear 2×2 CF diffuser.
But that’s not all. The tuner also added new carbon fiber side mirrors and a new Akrapovic Evolution titanium exhaust system that significantly improves the engine’s sound. Customers will also receive a new set of wheels combined with a new KW Suspensions system.
The interior also received some updates, including a new BMW Performance Alcantara M steering wheel and some carbon fiber trim.
The next generation BMW M3 won’t be showing its face until the 2013 Paris Auto Show, but we’ll at least get to see it undergo its painstaking testing until that happens. Bimmerpost was able to capture the future sports sedan as it endured the hot weather in Spain.
The video shows a little more of the M3’s exterior, but our main focus as we watched it was the sound pouring out of what we suspect is the new inline-six cylinder engine. We believe the previous V8 engine has been dropped in favor of the new V6, but we are still unaware of whether the new engine will be equipped with two or three turbos. Either way, it will boast of 450 HP, an increase over the current model’s 420 HP.
The future BMW M3 will be offered exclusively as a sedan and will show up on US dealerships in the winter of 2014. Before that, we’ll be able to get a closer look at the future model when BMW unveils its M3 Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
