In a historic finale to the 2013 MotoGP season, Marc Marquez was crowned world champion who also became the youngest ever to win the title. He managed to beat the reigning world champion in his rookie season, becoming the second rider to achieve this feat since Kenny Roberts in 1978.

Each year, BMW sponsors the racing series and the rider with the most number of pole positions is awarded a special "BMW M Award " in the form of a latest BMW M-Series . This year, the 20 year old Marquez was awarded a truly menacing BMW M6 Coupe in Frozen Black. What a rookie season it has been for Marc with the M6 being the icing on the cake.

Hopefully, Marc can handle this powerful four wheeler as well as he does powerful two-wheels sport bikes.

What is the appeal of a really hardcore performance sedan ? There are a dozen valid reasons, and most car guys will not need much persuading to get on-board. Killer pace starts from the new Panamera Turbo ’s projected 3.2-second blastoff to 60 mph.

The ingredients for the recipe are deceptively simple: big power all over the rev dial, rear-drive bias strongly preferred, and a manual box unless the automatic is absolutely state of the art.

The last and least important part? Those rear doors. Buyers of the hottest full-size performance sedans typically do not mind a tiny back seat. After all, the best possible passengers back there will probably be adoring ladies in thousand-dollar outfits.

So, megalux atmosphere back there is more important than true comfort and versatility. After all, you cannot take three beautiful and giggling best friends for a windows-down, radio-up spin in the hills without a swanky coupe-like sedan.

Even better is a stomping acceleration soundtrack and real panache outside the hottest bars and restaurants. No longer just Euro exclusives: all the cars on this list can be bought or ordered right here in the U.S. for 2013 or 2014.

Representatives from BMW , Mercedes, Lexus , Jaguar, Audi and Cadillac are also proudly represented in this market for $50,000-plus super sedans.

Hamann’s BMW M6 Coupe Mirr6r program was arguably one of the aftermarket stars back in March at the Geneva Motor Show .

Turns out, the popularity of the Mirr6r program compelled the German tuner to prepare another one; this time for the M6 Coupe’s cousin, the M6 Gran Coupe . Oh, and the car is on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show , making the Mirr6r program two-for-two in the two biggest auto shows of the year.

The cosmetic modifications look pretty similar to the first Mirr6r program with upgrades ranging from a 40 mm (1.6-inch) wide body kit, a carbon-fiber hood with its own air outlets, larger wheel arches, fresh bumpers, new side skirts, and of course, the completely ostentatious mirror-like finish of the body. Rounding out the exterior modifications is the set of 21-inch forged wheels, a new rear spoiler and a rear diffuser.

Moving inside, the treatment done on the M6 Mirr6r GC include a wide range of leather and Alcantara options that the customer can choose from. It’s this kind of custom upgrade that will really bring out the personality of the client as well as completely personalize the already attention grabbing nature of Hamann’s program.

Hamann didn’t announce any modifications to the drivetrain, so this M6 Gran Coupe retains the same 4.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers 560 horsepower — 575 horsepower with the Competition Package — and 502 pound-feet of torque. This is enough to launch the four-door coupe to 60 mph in as few as 4.1 seconds (4.3 seconds with a manual transmission).

Drag racing has become so ingrained in the fabric of auto racing that you often see one taking place in pretty much all corners of the world.

But while the traditional setup often involves just a pair of cars duking it out for quarter-mile supremacy, Motor Trend has taken the concept of drag racing to a whole new level with its now famous annual installment of “The World’s Greatest Drag Race."

Now on its third installment, "The World’s Greatest Drag Race" pits not just two cars but a dozen of them. 12 of the fastest and most powerful cars you’ll ever come across, starting side by side together and racing to see who can cover the quarter-mile the fastest.

MT’s first installment of this race was won by the Nissan GT-R and it would’ve been 2 for 2 if not for the Lamborghini Aventador beating out to punch in the second staging.

But now, the list is fresh with new exotics, ready, able and willing to take the mighty GT-R’s top perch in the order. There’s an Aston Martin Vanquish , an Audi R8 V10 Plus , a Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series , a Porsche Carrera 4S , and an SRT Viper among the worthy contenders.

Oh, and yes, the Nissan GT-R is back for a third go-round to reclaim its title.

We’re not going to spoil you to action because it’s going to make for a compelling six-and-so minutes of your life.

And if you didn’t get a chance to see The World’s Greatest Drag Race 1 and 2, you can click past the jump to go check them out!

When G-Power released the first M6 Bi-Tronic III kit , we were rather impressed by the stunning 640 horsepower and 573 pound-feet of torque the tuner was able so milk from the 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Well, color us astounded, as G-Force went right back into the garage and churned on the Bi-Tronic-III V2 kit for the F13 M6 that makes this one of the fastest and most powerful M6 models on Earth.

G-Power added in a new ECU tune and a high-flow exhaust system to extract 710 horsepower between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm, and 656 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm from the fire-breathing BMW V-8. That’s an unthinkable 150-horsepower and 156 pound-feet gain over the already awesome base M6. With this mammoth amount of power in tow, the M6 Bi-Tronic III sprints to 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 10.8 seconds and hits a top speed of 186 mph — a 31 mph gain. Unfortunately, G-Power did not make light of its 0-to-60 mph time, but we’re sure it is far better than the stock 4.1 seconds — likely, it is around 3.5 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the original Bi-Tronic III M6).

G-Power went to great lengths to also enhance the handling, braking and look of the M6 with additional components. Keeping the M6 glued to the road are 21-inch G-Power Hurricane forged wheels with 265/30 Z-Rated Michelin tires up front and super-wide 305/25 Z-rated Michelin rubber out back. Making sure the body roll is minimal and that maximum rubber touches the road is the GM6-RS G-Power coil-over suspension

G-Power also added in a ceramic braking package that reduces unsprung weight and brake fade for optimal stopping power without negatively affecting the car’s handling.

German tuner AC Schnitzer announced a new upgrade package for the entire BMW M6 lineup: coupe , convertible and Grand Coupe . With the new tuning kit, AC Schnitzer wanted to prove that the model was specially designed for more: more power, more torque, more speed and more aerodynamic.

As expected, AC Schnitzer spent most of its time under the hood of the M6. The tuner updated the 4.4-liter V-8 engine to deliver a total of 620 horsepower and 582 pound-feet of torque — up from the stock 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. With the extra 60 horsepower the M6 can now hit a top speed of 189 mph - up from the base 155 mph. Additionally, AC Schnitzer announced that the Gran Coupe variant now carries a 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.1 seconds — 0.1 seconds faster than the standard model.

The extra power required extra driving dynamics. To help in this area, AC Schnitzer installed a new suspension spring kit that lowers the car’s ride by 15 mm (0.59 inches) up front and 25 mm (0.98 inches) at the rear.

So the Dubai Police didn’t really have a Bugatti Veyron in its ranks. While we were undoubtedly disappointed about that, it didn’t take long for us to move on from it.

But now some more interesting news because the world’s most awesome fleet just got even more awesome!

New photos were taken of a pair of additions to the already impressive list of supercars that have been commissioned by the Dubai Police. This time, it’s a BMW M6 and a Ford Mustang , two high-powered models that should fit in with the already impressive roster of supercars employed by the law enforcement agency.

At this point, it’s becoming more and more like a "what’s next?" proposition for these folks.

And for our money, we expect a few more German vehicles added there before the dust settles. Possibly an Audi or a Porsche? Maybe even an SUV, perhaps?

Along with the new 2014 BMW M5 Competition Package , the M6 is also going to receive a Competition Package for 2014. The new package will be put on sale this July and was specially designed to enhance the M6’s handling properties and performance.

The Competition Package starts by adding an extra 15 horsepower under the hood, so the high-revving V-8 engine now delivers a total of 575 horsepower. Once the output was increased, BMW engineers made extensive modifications to the chassis setup. They have installed improved suspension and damping systems and retuned the stabilizer bars for added rigidity. As a result, the M6’s ride has been lowered by around 10 mm (0.39 inches) and body roll is greatly reduced.

The M6 Competition Package also adds an Active M Differential with its own control unit that ensures a more direct mapping to enable firm and secure contact with the road. The car is offered with exclusively designed 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and a sport exhaust system with the customary M twin tailpipes in black chrome.

Thanks to the new Competition Package, all the driving dynamics attributes of the M6 have been increased to their highest level.

BMW’s involvement in MotoGP is well-chronicled, having been bestowed the title of "Official Car of MotoGP" for the past 15 years.

Seeing an opportunity to commemorate the occasion, BMW and MotoGP have partnered up yet again to present a special one-off BMW M6 to the best MotoGP qualifier at the end of the season. This particular collaboration has actually been going on since 2003, but this year, they’re upping the ante with a pretty incredible prize.

The special-edition M6, which was recently unveiled at the Spanish Grand Prix, is dressed in a fancy Frozen Black Metallic exterior to go with an equally fancy set of 20-inch matte-black, light-alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the interior of the M6 Frozen Black carries a unique combination of carbon fiber trim with leather upholstery in Merino and Sakhir Orange. Oh, and don’t forget the M multi-function seats, the heads-up display and the GPS navigation capabilities.

No performance mods were given to this unique M6, so you can expect it to be powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine that produces 560 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. With those numbers, the M6 is capable of hitting 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
