The BMW X6 is a four-passenger luxury crossover or "sports activity coupe" as BMW likes to call it. It went on sale in the second quarter of 2008 with a promise of combining the benefits of an SUV and a coupe into one convenient little package. The current X6 is powered by a plethora of engine options. The first is a 3.0L twin turbo engine producing 300/320hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 4.4L twin turbo V8 delivering 400/440hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The 4.4L V8/electric hybrid option pushes out 480 net ho and 575 net lb-ft of torque, while on the opposite side of the spectrum is the 4.4L twin turbo V8 that gets 555hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. These engines are mated to a six-speed automatic, continuously variable transmission.

Not a lot of tuners have decided to take a crack at the BMW X6 especially since the X6M was revealed. For whatever reason, tuners have not taken a liking to cleaning up the sports activity coupe other than the Interceptor package from Met-R . Of course, there’s always someone who decides that they can do it better and, today, that some is Status Design. The Russian tuner has unveiled a new tuning package for the BMW X6 that includes both aerodynamic updates and a power increase.

The aerodynamic package includes side skirts, carbon fiber roof spoiler, front bumper with LED daytime running lights, carbon trim on the window surrounds, mirror covers, a dual-kidney grille, and a new rear bumper. The roof is painted in gloss black and the body in white. The entire package is finished by 22" wheels.

Thanks to the addition of a new sport exhaust system and a chip tuning, the engine’s power has been increased to 380HP (an increase of 74 HP).

This tuning package is a perfect addition to the BMW X6 if the consumer is interested in giving this luxury car a sportier edge. BMW is not exactly known for sporty vehicles so Status Design has given the consumer the opportunity to have their cake and eat it too. Of course, there is always the choice of purchasing the BMW X6M instead which will still give the consumer a sportier look and also provide even more horsepower to boot. Pricing for this tuning package has yet to be revealed so the jury is still out on which deal would be better on the wallet. It’s probably safe to say the tuning package will still be less expensive than the BMW X6M.

A few days ago, we told you about the BMW X6 Interceptor that has been making an impression on a lot of people, partly because it’s so unfailingly awesome and partly because it was built by the Russian tuning house, Met-R.

And just to give us an even clearer picture on what kind of extraordinary X6 the boys from Met-R have created, they’ve kindly provided us a slick promo video of the tuned-up X6 Interceptor that, after watching it, will surely drive your curiosities straight through the roof.

As a reminder, the Interceptor comes with a package that includes an aggressive body kit highlighted by a redesigned front bumper, a revised grille, a rear diffuser, modified side sills, wheel arch extensions, a rear spoiler, and a set of BBS wheels, rounding out to a complete package that costs 297,000 rubles or in Benjamin-speak, about $9,740.

When it comes to Russians and their cars, you never know what will come next. The X6 Interceptor by Met Ru is no exception. The tuning kit is offered in two versions: a normal version priced at 297,000 rubles ($9,689) and a carbon fiber version, 397,000 rubles ($12,951); both being all about getting aggressive.

The Russian tuner added an aggressive front bumper with huge air intakes and kidney eyebrows derived from the 6-Series , expanded arches and sills, a new rear bumper, diffuser and vertical fog lamps. The car is topped off with huge BBS wheels.

The package was designed by Zaur Khalilov and was done using a 3D rendering software. And there is something the tuner would like to tell you: "Be individual, do not be afraid to take risks and enjoy the revolution." Interesting, no?

The BMW X6M has been a little bit of a loose lady these days. Many auto tuners have gotten a piece of this vehicle and have tuned it up to their liking. The latest company to give her a go is AC Schnitzer . They have created an extensive carbon fiber body kit complete with all of the accessories for the interior, plus a performance upgrade.

The Aachen-based tuning specialists have started this package off with a front spoiler, rear roof spoiler, rear wing, and rear diffuser all made of carbon fiber. They have also added carbon fiber design elements to the front skirt and chromed front grille. The front of the car is highlighted by the AC Schnitzer carbon bonnet which features a clear view of the engine thanks to the plexiglass panoramic window placed in the center of it. They have also thrown in optional carbon bonnet vents. The exterior is rounded off by Falcon wheel arch extensions that add 40mm to each side making the car appear wider. Since no car is complete without the rims, AC Schnitzer has provided a choice of 20", 22" or 23" wheels in a plethora of types.

The interior will receive carbon interior trim and an AC Schnitzer steering wheel spokes with the new “black Exclusiv” design. Carbon isn’t the only material that was used leaving the cover for the i-Drive system controller and the footrest and pedal set to be outfitted in aluminum. The final touch is a throwback to the 80’s with velour foot mats.

BMW continues to jump across different mainstreams in yet another marketing effort to promote their vehicles.

A week after we reported about the BMW X5 ’s ‘star billing’ in the soon-to-be-released movie, “The Ghost Writer”, BMW is jumping on another marketing platform onto the Black Eyed Peas’ latest music video, “Imma Be Rocking That Body”.

Two BMW vehicles – the BMW Superbike, S1000RR , and the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 – make an appearance in the rather futuristic music video. While they don’t play as prominent a role as the X5 does in the movie “The Ghost Writer”, the cameos of both the ActiveHybrid X6 and the S1000RR has served as pretty good advertising for BMW, especially in YouTube, where the video currently has over 800,000 hits already.

Check it out and add to that total.
