2011 BMW X5 Performance Accessories

If you already have a BMW X5 and are drawing a blank as to what to ask your loved ones for this holiday season, BMW has just what you are looking for. The German automaker has just launched the new ‘BMW X5 Performance Accessories’ range for their luxury SUV. The ironic thing here is that, despite what its name suggests, this package doesn’t come with performance upgrades. Weird.

What it does come with are aesthetic and aerodynamic modifications for both the exterior and interior of the X5. For the exterior, the items include new front and rear bumpers and side skirts that were designed and tested at the BMW’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel in Munich. These items are fit to reduce aerodynamic drag and lift at high speeds, thereby improving the X5’s stability. They also serve as a pretty cool fashion statement. Speaking of fashion statements, BMW also included a set of black kidney grilles in their package to give the X5 an even more menacing look than what it already has.

As for the interior, the BMW Performance Accessories include upgrades on both the SUV’s steering wheel and pedal set. For the former, BMW Performance has a unique multi-function steering wheel that features a thick, racing-style, flattened lower rim that’s fully covered in hand-stitched Alcantara material. For the latter (the pedal set), BMW Performance has an aluminum pedal kit that includes a gas pedal, brake pedal, and footrest pedal, all of which were ergonomically crafted with aluminum featuring rubber inserts.

There you have it, folks. A nice new styling kit for theBMW X5 courtesy of, well, BMW. If you’re interested, you can inquire about these accessories at any authorized BMW Center where they’re set to go on sale later this month.

Press Release after the jump.

I love the wheels of this X5; I found it so cool and pretty! smiley As for the exterior design, I don’t get the point of the automaker of this car for putting lots of exhaust, and the interior is not really impressive at all.

I don’t get why BMW keeps on making a useless accessories. Its better if they waster their time in upgrading the performance of their car.

I like the new styling of the kit! The modification on the interior and the upgrade for the aerodynamic is quiet impressive. Im hoping to read about the performance of this car.

If only they could actually make that car into 4 door coupe,
I think it may replace the current GT. And I bet it will be more sexier compare to the Audi Sportback!

Yup, but I haven’t read the full article about their latest design. Do they make a lot of upgrade for the interior ?

there’s a X6 no need to buy this one.

I think this is my next vehicle...was the 2010 simply a refresh as it doesn’t look THAT much different despite BMW calling it all-new. When is its replacement scheduled for?

I think the accessories are for looks only and not for the performance of the X5. but there are many after market part for X5.. KN, Bilsten, Bremo ETC

so what type of accessories do they plan to sell? is it for engine performance? or for the looks only?

Yeah, those nice touches don’t come cheap!

smiley Raul, keep dreaming. That ain’t gonna happen any time soon. These are companies that want more and more, no time to think of customers. Not even for serious safety problems.

This is why I appreciate so much Toyota. They are always for the people safety and recall the cars everytime is needed. Not quite the same discussion, but I think you got my point...

I want from car makes something like this: "We appreciate all the customers support, and due the fact they already payed XX0.000 dollars on the X5, they can visit any local dealer and order the accessories FOR FREE! They will be installed in a 30 day period with no charges".

All these inventions to squeeze more money for an already extremely expensive car, are making me sick!

The X5 looks insane as is, if you add more of these details you literally will make people turn their heads on the street! smiley
