When it comes to updating BMW->ke178 models, German tuner AC Schnitzer->ke312 always does an amazing job. So when BMW unveiled the new generation 6-Series Coupe, we knew it would just be a matter of time before AC Schnitzer found something to improve upon. The complete BMW 6-Series project will be displayed at the Essen Motor Show.

They can do almost anything they want on the exterior, but the real deal is under the hood. AC Schnitzer did exactly what we would have expected from them by raising the output up to 540 HP, from the standard 407 HP. They have also added an exterior package to improve upon the BMW's aerodynamics for better performance. These changes help the 6-Series->ke320 Coupe sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, an improvement over the standard 4.8 seconds.

Exterior and Interior

The new BMW 6-Series Coupe was much improved from its predecessor, but there is always room for improvement and AC Schnitzer has found it. The tuner opted for a new front spoiler, a chromed front grille, and chrome strips which can be fitted either as a set or individually for the front of the vehicle, while the back got a new rear spoiler, a rear skirt insert, and a loading edge protector film. The final touch was provided by a new set of 21" Type VIII Racing Forged alloy wheels in BiColor. Most of these changes were done solely to improve on the 6-Series Coupe's aerodynamics for better performance.

For the interior, AC Schnitzer added a sports airbag steering wheel, an AC Schnitzer "Black Line" aluminum cover for the i-Drive System Controller, aluminum foot rest and pedals, and velour boot and foot mats.

Engine

In its standard version, the 6-Series Coupe uses a 4.4-liter V-8 engine that develops a total of 400 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque, but AC Schnitzer has managed to increase the total output to an impressive 540 HP. This increase leads to a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds, an improvement over the standard 4.8 seconds.

The power boost also comes with another perk; the tuner is offering a twin sports rear silencer with chromed "Sport Trim" tailpipes on the right and left to help the 650i be seen and, above all, heard by all.

Competition

Despite the fact that the new generation BMW 6-Series Coupe was only launched a few months ago, it has already received an impressive amount of upgrade packages from tuners all over the world, but one sticks out above the rest. Prior Design put its footprint on the BMW by adding a number of exterior and interior modifications to make it truly stand out. As far as looks go, Prior Design takes the cake. Power points, though, go to AC Schnitzer.
