Days before the official debut of the BMW 1-Series M Coupe BMW is already planning on future versions of the vehicle. A 1-Series M Convertible may be in the works, as is a special edition version referenced by a BMW source as the "GTS/CSL". Back in 1975, BMW built a special 3.0 CSL homologated for the European Touring Car Championship. The car was a star during the season winning almost all that it was to be won. Apparently this is the car that will inspire the future special edition 1-Series M Coupe in terms of its exterior design and graphics. A BMW insider told JonSibal: "Anything is possible, we have ideas and the creativity to expand. In the end it all comes down to the reception of the car. 1M is more personal than any other M car. It has to be more upfront with the customer because it is developed entirely for the customer who want something pure." UPDATE 01/16/11: Jon Sibal’s rendering of the BMW 1M was so widely received in the industry that a number of company’s are pooling their resources together to build a special edition one-off project based on his work. According to Jon himself, he will be working on the project with Chicago BMW tunner IND Distribution to bring the 1M rendering to life. Joining Jon and IND in their project will be Patrick BMW, ESS Tuning, Brembo, KW suspension, Challenge Engineering, and Eisenmann Exhaust Systems. No word yet on when the build is going to begin, but nonetheless, it’s a car that we’re all looking forward to seeing once it’s finished. Exterior and InteriorThis special edition will mean the same for the 1-Series M Coupe as did the recently launched GTS for the E92 M3. The main focus will be to reduce weight as much as possible. And with a few HP under the hood this will be the perfect recipe to make the 1-Series M Coupe GTS/CSL faster than any other 1-Series ever. The EngineLike the 1-Series M Coupe, the GTS/CSL version will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, but with an addition of 20-30 HP. This will make it good for an impressive 360-370 HP. The motor will be connected to six-speed manual transmission. The CompetitionThe future BMW 1-Series M coupe will take on models like the Porsche Cayman S and the Audi TT-RS. The Audi TT-RS is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that produces 340 HP and 330 lb.-ft. of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4,6 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph. The Cayman S gets a 3.4-liter power unit that delivers 320 hp (25 hp more). The Cayman S with PDK dual-clutch automatic and Launch Control can do 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Marketing the car as a true enthusiast’s machine, almost all 1 M Coupe’s sold are certain to find their way onto a race track and so BMW has gone though the effort of testing the car on THE race track – the Nürburgring.
 i think you can buy this online, but I bet you’ll get it in a 3 digit number, plus the actual shape of the hood will be different so you’ll have to take extra caution when installing the decals.
 yes I’m really impressed with the M series decal, it looks more aggresssive with that M signature stripes. I wonder where can I buy those decals. I’d really love to installed it to my 1998 Bimmer 3 series.
 great looking decal, I really love it. specially the m1’s design, but honestly I love the hatch model of the m1 rather than the sedan.
 on cars with little or no downforce (road cars, even super cars) the added contact area might minimize effective grip by not putting enough pressure on the road.
 i think it’s clever marketing. most people don’t know (or don’t care) that a new model is on the way, and it creates new interest in their ageing car, so they can shift a few more units before the end of its life.
 are those BMW stripes come in optional? or is it just a modified car decals that you can buy on any automotive stores?
 Always wanted to drive one of those! Just to see how it rides. Not sure I’ll be a client, since lately the BMW cars that I have seen in accidents are too many. This, of course, is not due the car reliability or something like this, but due the fact that the BMW brand attracts some insane people that put at risk the safety on the road.
 So what if someone put in an order in say, March. And were then given a delivery date 6 months down the line?
