BMW->ke178 announced today the addition of a new M Sport edition offered for the entire 6-Series lineup->ke320: Coupe, Convertible and Grand Coupe. The new edition will be available from June 2013 at a starting price of $80,625.

According to BMW, the new special edition "delivers a driving experience that assuages the most discerning requirements while also offering an attractive price advantage." The new 6 Series M Sport Edition will be distinguished by tons of M-specific elements, like an aerodynamic kit, wheels and exhaust system.

The interior has also been optimized with numerous M elements, like M leather steering wheel, M door sill finishers and sports seats in Alcantara/Nappa leather.

As a first for the 6 Series, BMW is also offering a Sakhir Orange metallic M paintwork combined with an interior trim in BMW Individual leather Merino fine grain Opal white with contrast seams in Sakhir Orange.

Exterior

The new M Sport Edition will be distinguished by an M Sport package that adds an M-specific aerodynamic kit, adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lights.

The car sits on a set of 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design backed by black-painted brake calipers. BMW is also offering exhaust tailpipes in dark chrome and BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line.

As a first for the 6 Series, customers can also opt for the Sakhir Orange metallic M paintwork - a color that, until now, was only available on the M6.

Interior

Most of the updates are offered on the interior, as BMW is including an M-style, leather-wrapped steering wheel; M-style door sill finishers; and sports seats in Alcantara and Nappa leather. Buyers can also opt for an exclusive BMW Individual leather Merino fine grain Opal white with contrast seams in Sakhir Orange.

The new BMW 6 Series M Sport Edition will also be offered with tons of standard equipment, Including:

BMW announced no updates under the hood, so customers can choose between the usual engines found in the 6 Series lineup.

The 640i is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, while the most powerful 650i gets a 4.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 445 horsepower and a peak torque of 480 pound-feet. The 650i goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 135 mph.

Mercedes E-Class Coupe

American customers can only choose between two different engines on the E-Class Coupe, including: a 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine in the E350 with 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque; or a twin-turbo, direct-injected 5.5-liter V-8 producing 402 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque in the E550. The two engines mate to a seven-speed automatic transmission with DIRECT SELECT lever and shift paddles.

Jaguar XK Coupe and Convertible

The XK comes with two engine options, including: a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 385 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque; or a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine that delivers 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque.

The second engine will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph.

Conclusion

The M Sport Edition offered for the BMW 6-Series is the perfect addition needed to fill the gap between the standard version and the more powerful M6. The problem is that the model is a little bit expensive. For example, a base 650i Coupe is priced at $86,200, while for the M Sport Edition price has been raised to $91,925.
