2013 BMW M6 Cabriolet by BBM Motorsport

Aftermarket company, BBM Motorsport, has pulled the covers off of its new program for the BMW M6 Cabriolet and by all accounts, this is one of the more impressive takes we’ve seen of the German saloon .

The first order of business was to change the color of the M6, and BBM Motorsport called in SFT Carwrap for the job. With the latter responsible for the dress-up, the M6 Cabrio was treated to a fancy matte steel-blue body wrap and accented with gunpowder shades that came from SOTT / Arlon. A set of alloy wheels - 21-inch Breyton Spirit R types - was also installed, as was a KW suspension kit that keeps the car handling supremely even with all the power upgrades it received.

Speaking of such, BBM Motorsport wasted little time giving the M6 Cabrio a huge engine modification, something it achieved by remapping the ECU and installing a complete Akrapovic exhaust with carbon end pipes. With these upgrades, the aftermarket company was able to increase the output of the M6 to an insane 705 horsepower and 636 pound-feet of torque, a significant rise from the standard 560-horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque output of the standard model.

No performance numbers were given, but we assume the BBM Motorsport-tuned M6 is now capable of hitting 60 mph in 3.5 seconds to go with a top speed of 190 mph.

BMW M6 Convertible

The new-generation M6 Convertible distinguishes itself with a more powerful and sportier appearance, thanks in large part to special M design cues elements: a newly designed M kidney grille featuring an "M6" badge, larger air dam and lower bumper and a new set of 19-inch M light-alloy wheels.

The interior of the M6 Cabrio also gets its own new digs, including developed M sports seats, Merino extended leather upholstery, door sills with "M6" lettering, an M driver’s footrest and exclusive carbon fiber interior trim. The car’s roof is made from natural color Carbon Fiber Composite and comes painted in a dark color. It can be operated at speeds of up to 25 mph and takes 19 seconds to open and 24 seconds to close again.

In terms of power, BMW has opted to transfer the turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 - first used in the M5 - over to the M6. This engine delivers a total of 560 horsepower (a 5-horsepower bump over the previous generation) and a peak torque of 500 pound-feet. The engine will be mated to a a newly developed seven-speed, double-clutch transmission and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph.

ndeed no need to discuss here the fact that the serial BMW M6 is no child of sadness. The upper class athlete sparkles of elegance and luxury as coupé as well as in cabriolet version. Exactly this is the point, on which the BBM Motorsport from Senden nearby Munster, Germany, puts the lever in position to create the BBM M700BT out of the recent M6 cabrio by means of very special „ingredients“.

The focus is – as usual for BBM Motorsport – on the rather multifaceted area of power enhancement. So also in this case. By help of the chip tuning software developed on the house own performance testing station and not least thanks to the Akrapovic complete exhaust system including down pipes and sports cat the BBM M700BT can offer performance values that indeed must not fear any comparison: 705 HP (518 kW) at 6.100 to 7.200 rpm and 864 Nm of max torquet! That is anyway 145 HP (107 kW) and a torque of 184 Nm of more. Also the exhaust system with carbon end pipes merits to be mentioned. Of course, this power enhancement kit is also available for the recent M5, X5M and X6M.

Concerning the suspension, there has been installed a KW suspension set in order to maintain the “dynamic damping control“ (DDC). Optionally, there are available also variant 3 coilovers of the same manufacturer with lowering by 10 to 40 mm. In case of the rims the choice has been done in favor of Breyton 21” rims named Spirit R. Finally there must be especially mentioned the car wrapping by SFT Carwrap in „Mat Steel Blue“ and the sportive accents in „Gunpowder“ by Sott / Arlon.

By the way, the tuned by BBM Motorsport BMW M6 as worthy 850 Csi successor can be admired together with the recent VW Golf VII GTI of BBM in hall 8 stand 130 of the Essen Motor show.
